In England, their music is next to Motown, and Chess the two most popular in terms of R & B. The Three Degrees are like honorary Daughters, Groups like The Communards, Simply Red & Dusty Springfield (RIP) have done their Verisons of their Songs. Even Ricky Gervais as "David Brent" on The UK Version of The Office sang "If You Don't Know Me By Now".

Right on! In 1975 Motown was really starting to lose it's status. Diana Ross's Second Movie Mahogany was a flop, the Jackson Five (sans Jermaine) left and got slapped with a 20 Million Dollar Lawsuit that took Six Years to settle with a Payment of $500.000.00, and Smokey Robinson & Berry were at loggerheads over Songwriting Issues. The one thing that "saved" them was Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" being Marvin's Third Number One Hit and Stevie Wonder's Songs In The Key Of Life that made history by being the first Album to debut at #1. No other Act did it with the exception of Elton John with Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy.

In England their Music is still revered. For example, Rod Stewart did his Version of "Love Train", Ricky Gervais as David Brent did his "Version" of If You Don't Know Me By Now, The Three Degrees are Honorary Daughters Of England with "When Will I See You Again", and Simply Red did "Their" Version of "If You Don't Know Me By Now" that got them the Grammy Award for Best R & B Performance. Billy Paul still bought the house down with "Me & Mrs. Jones" Give England their props, they still keep the Music of Motown, Philly Soul (with or without Gamble & Huff) and Chicago Soul most notably Chess.

Can you imagine if Kenny Gamble was a Distant Relative of The Proctor & Gamble Company.

If Pop Idol was still on the Air in The UK, I would love for them to do a Show saluting The Music of Philly. On Other Idol Shows, they've done tributes to Motown, The 1970's, Movies, and The Beatles.

It gave Motown a run for their Money. In the UK their music is still revered. The Three Degrees are like honorary Daughters and one of the replacements Desiree Heslop later had the Solo Hit "Say I'm Your Number One". Alot of UK Artists have done songs that were popularized in Philly. Take That (Inspired By New Kids On The Block), debuted with their Version of "It Only Takes A Minute" by The Tavares, The Communards did "their" version of "Don't Leave Me This Way". Fans still loved Billy Paul singing "Me & Mrs. Jones" and on the Season Finale of the very first Pop Idol in 2001 The Runner Up Gareth Gates sang "You Are Everything" with Rachel Stevens of S Club 7. Ricky Gervais in his incarnation of David Brent on The Office did "his" version of "If You Don't Know Me By Now".

Give Philly Elevators their Props. So much music came from them and Hall & Oates met in an Elevator as well.

@@jaylene.turner6524 Okay! Go On! Is it true that Daryl Hall worked with one of them when in The Temptones. Alot of folks who were born in the 1990's are discovering Hall & Oates Music and they love them. In fact as you know Sara Smile was next to Baby Come Back (The Group That Ronn Moss was in before playing Ridge Forrester #1 on The Bold & The Beautiful) and How Much I Feel by Ambrosia one of the very few songs by a White Artist on Black Radio in Ohio back in the day.

I don’t think they worked together.
They just went to the same high school,
      and would doo-wop after class.
