    I heard a buzzing sound coming from the vent in the bathroom and couldn't imagine how I was going to get them out of there.
    I checked the vent and it had a mesh across the vent that was unable to be removed and I couldn't get any spray in there effectively or safely for that matter so I decided to go at it from the inside.

    I've had good results not even removing the cover, just spraying it up into the grill and leaving the fan run. I do it at night when they are all in the nest. Eventually I'll have to replace those soffit vents with something that has screens to keep those buggers out!

    Never got a bathroom vent invasion as I am regular and deadly.
    I did get an invasion in my fireplace, I hardly use that thing.

    Ive been getting wasps in my bathroom occasionally after heavy rain. Its been a complete mystery to me how they get in- especially since my vent fan doesnt really have space for these big suckers to fly out of. I definitely want to try this but 1. ....im short. I cant reach the ceiling and its a tight bathroom so i cant place a ladder.
    2. Im .... Deadly terrified of a wasp flying in my face if i open the vent . Im a coward.... I admit it.
    Im just gonna spray and pray.

    How are wasps able to squeeze in those tiny vent slots 🐝?

    • @butchnewell
      @butchnewell  Год назад

      Their are big holes in the mesh of the vent. It’s a manufacturing issue. This definitely works to kill them and remove the problem when it happens.

    Gotta try this tomorrow.. i had the foam kind so i tried lighting a piece of paper on fire then put it out to make a smoke screen at them.
    ... i set the fire alarm off and coughed a lot. But i got them swarming and lit the vent up from the window.
    I think i killed like ...THREE!? - the foam sucks. Lol

      No. It just goes from this fan to the roof. Just a short 3’ run.

    Did this treatment yesterday and I am finding random wasps throughout my house either dead or walking around almost dead. My dog got stung twice so far from wasps on the floor. How long will this go one for? And could this mean they are in more than just the bathroom vent?

    • @butchnewell
      @butchnewell  5 лет назад +4

      Heather Peterson No, I haven’t had any issues like what you are mentioning.
      The exhaust vents normally only attach to the exhaust fan and vent directly outside. The only other possibility that comes to mind, is you have a hole in you exhaust vent and the wasps have migrated to other areas in the attic or wall.

    • @heatherpeterson1473
      @heatherpeterson1473 5 лет назад

      Butch Newell thank you. That would make sense. The dead/dying wasps are ending up in the same areas. One room on the first floor and the bedroom right above it on the second floor. The vent is in the bathroom on the second fooor

    • @butchnewell
      @butchnewell  5 лет назад +1

    Was the mesh damaged? How was the wasp able to get pass it?

    • @butchnewell
      @butchnewell  Год назад +1

      The mesh you speak of is not like the screen mesh covering your windows.
      It’s a very wide 1/4”x1/4” square that allows the wasps in there. Just what came with my house.

    LoL I just got rid of a nest in my bathroom vent yesterday. I didn't do anything that you did though. I had 6 Ryes, and then stuck my shop vac hose in the vent, fell off the ladder and then ran like a bitch. From the reminisce the nest was approx 1.5ft-2ft long.

    • @butchnewell
      @butchnewell  10 месяцев назад

      I like that idea. Here the vent tube is a light weight flexible dryer vent material. With my luck, I’m would have poked a hole in the vent and introduced the wasps to the entire attic.
