    There is not a single thing that you have said that is a negative/ignorant approach to worship or or anything that promotes an attitude of entertainment. The whole point of worship team is to encourage the congregation to worship. We are not there to entertain, but if we do not prepare an environment through prayer, practice, music, lighting, and the words of the songs themselves, then we shortchange the congregation of an environment that makes it easy to forget about all the things that have gone on during their week and focus on God. Good on you, sir. Keep it up.

    Glad you have a lot of time to remember all the songs you sing. Most folk work and have busy schedules during the week. I use a iPad with Onsong because we do new songs all the time. . I agree it's good to remember the song you are singing. . if you only do a few songs. You must be good. God Bless. Our church gives us our songs 3 days before service. Just not enough time. But I love serving and do my best all the time. But sometimes we do not have a lot of time. peace on earth. My Church Brings it. All the time. God is great all the time.

    I'm 62 and when I was in my20's we always memorized our music. Now we are dependent on those stands. I am encouraging my team to stop using them. I enjoy watching other praise teams that don't use them. We are going for it. Thanks for the encouragement and the video.

      I’m 58 & I memorized music, too. I’m a classically trained pianist, but also play by ear in any key someone decides to sing or play in. I was church pianist for over 20 years, & some people criticized me for practicing so much (2+ hours per day), while others thought that God had just zapped me with talent. At any rate, I was also part of the worship team for a large church that had televised services, & all that practice & preparation always paid off. It made me less nervous & much less prone to make mistakes (our church had an orchestra I played with it. It also enabled me to engage in worship, as pointed out in this video. It wasn’t entertainment. A lot of planning went into selecting the most appropriate music to sing/play, but we were always open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Many times someone would start singing, & I’d have to start accompanying them on piano. It takes a lot of practice to make it all look & feel effortless.

    I love these videos. Thank you very much for sharing. To the people who have any negative thoughts, this man is sharing wisdom, wisdom he has gained through experience. I believe I'm going share these on the screen with my worship team before practice every once and a while.
    I agree with you wholeheartedly about memorization. This is an area that I've struggled with my whole career, well my whole life really. I've even prayed time and time again for God to help me in this area. My memory is just horrible, always has been...........what was I saying? JK
    Be blessed.

    For those who say they can't do their part that well in worship, I would like to tell you: ''Yes! You can!'' I have been there too, after I familiar with the song enough (no matter lyrics or chords), I tend to enjoy worship and God's presence, more than keep thinking of which part to play now/later. It's a journey, you don't have to rush, just let God lead you to that stage, you will be surprise how beautiful in that freedom of worship. XD

    Hey Brian! I just want to tell you that I feel more encouraged after watching your video. You really made me feel more challenged to become better as a guitarist. My dream is to be a Worship Leader in my church. I believe that this video hasn't just be any normal video. However, this video impacts the hearts of worshippers and let's tear down spiritual strongholds. Eternally Grateful

    Hi Brian, great video! I'm a pastor / worship leader in an extraordinarily small church. Honoring God is my goal in all I do. I feel I fall so short. I have to work full time to keep going and time is my greatest challenge. You've encouraged me through all your videos to push to a greater level and given great advice. I can see your heart for God in everything you do. Your advice is spot on here. Thanks for being a long distance mentor.

    Hey Brian! Love your videos! I normally help lead worship on Sundays for Church as a vocalist. I was offered the opportunity to help lead worship for our VBS next month. (Lots of Hillsong Young &Free!!! 😀) Do you have any advice for helping lead worship with such a different congregation? Thanks for all of the work you put into your ministry. You have great advice on how to help people lead worship of our mighty King!

    We in the Spanish Christian churches are lacking the whole practice aspect of worship. In our church we just started to practice at the beginning of this year, but before it was like find the key and rhythm on the spot sort of deal. We all the spanish musicians have to step it up and do it for Christ. Even better than any mega famous artist out there, lets do it for God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I really do appreciate the heart of this message and I get why you would want to strive for excellence, setting a high standard or expectation of musical quality. However, could someone please explain for me how memorization equates to engagement/intimacy? How you measure engagement for yourself is arbitrary, there is no real tangible (forseeable) criteria. Are you not exchanging the dependency of music stands for the dependency of recall-how is that different? Just be curious to know howyou define it.

    • @samc1326
      @samc1326 6 лет назад +1

      He's emphasizing knowing the song well enough that you are not caught up with the technical aspects of it. Not just memorization. Memorization is a step to getting to really know the music and not have to worry about what the next lyric or chord is and focus more on what it's about.

    Thank you for this. I have felt for a long time that preparation can make all the difference in the world when it comes to connection and immersion in a worship service. Not to take away from the role of the Holy Spirit and the presence of the Spirit, but to just be ready and focused.

    • @worshiptutorials
      @worshiptutorials  8 лет назад +1

      I absolutely agree! When I've talked about these things before, comments usually come back saying that planning ahead like that does not allow the Holy Spirit to work, which I absolutely disagree with. In my opinion, that line of thinking is just another way to justify laziness and lack of preparation.

    Hello Brother, can you direct me to a video where you are talking about sound setup in worship. If not can you in the coming time do a video for the same. Lastly, how does listening via headphones to adjust and determine the sound for live worship helps?

    • @worshiptutorials
      @worshiptutorials  8 лет назад

      Hello. We don't really have any videos like that currently. As to mixing for a live room in headphones - it's pretty pointless, in my opinion. What you hear in the headphones is completely different than what the room actually sounds like, so mixing engineers should pretty much never mix for a live room in headphones.

      +Worship Tutorials OK brother, but still if you can guide me or advice me for setting up the live worship, we are a student small fellowship, so we don't have much resources who are professional.

    Hey Brian. Great video. It looks like you only covered the music aspect of worship, would be great in the future if you could talk about excellence in worship outside of music. Glorifying God in everything we do, say and think. Musical worship is but a small fraction of the worship that we do to lift up Jesus' name. Your channel is awesome btw :)
