Hi this is Mike from the Philipines, I lead the worship last sunday and it’s my first time to do it. I feel to myself that I’m kinda prepared for that but when that time comes it feels really nervous and I don’t know what to say in betweens. This video helps me a lot to grow further with God’s Love and encourage myself more to engage with this passion.
Me too.. I'm s bit scared and insecure.. but I know God is with me.. Tommorow is the day I'm gonna lead the worship and it's my first time.. please pray for me
This is so helpful. I'm an electric guitar player and I've been asked many times to lead worship but I always turned it down because I didn't know how to lead despite being in the praise and worship team for years. After watching this video, I finally feel like I can do it next time. Thank you
It’ll be my first time, as a youth, leading a youth group into worship, this really helped me understand more about what worship is, and how to lead it! Thank you!
The greatest worship leader in the past 25 years is Lindell Cooley. He never concerned himself with what people liked or what they needed. His approach was to lead by example. He worshipped for only an audience of one and because he was a true leader, people naturely followed him into the throne room. I remember, he came out one night and ask into the mic, "what would you like to hear?" The congregation started shouting out songs like "Happy Song", "We Will Ride", and much more. Lindell then spoke into the mic and said, "I wasn't asking you". The congregation went crazy when they realized Lindell was talking to God. That was one of the most powerful nights of worship I've ever experienced. My point is, if you're truly called to lead, people will follow you regardless. Nothing needs to be said. Lindell never even had song slides, they were considered a distraction and most of the time Lindell led worship spontaneously. He only planned the first song, everything after that was where the spirit led him. Just lead them by worshipping Jesus in spirit and in truth.
I am this kind of a worship leader. I focus on ministering to God alone. I do spontaneous songs after the first planned one and I can't do it any other way. I also love private worship more than a corporate one.
LoneChair Productions Gud am. May I ask a question.something bothering me. I’m leading a worship. Praised the Lord Almighty God for your life. Our pastor said that the leader need to lead this people to the presence of God. I’m so confuse.i don’t know what to do. Please I need advice. I know that the leader is leading them to worship God . Focus to God. Please need some advice.
@@小谷野デシリー Personally, I think if you focus on saying words like "Lord WE come before You..." instead of "I come"... they become aware that it's a "we" thing, and not about what the worship leader is doing or not doing. Also, it helps the worship leader remember that it's not about the band or the singer, but God. Also, I believe choosing songs that focus on God's attributes (holy, great, mighty, powerful), as well as songs that sing TO Him and not just about Him help. People get a lot of their "doctrine" from songs, so if we pick songs that line up with Scriptures, then we're leading them to the Presence of God. Jesus said that HE is the way to the Father, so if we focus on Jesus, and not so much about songs that talk more about how I feel, or that focus on what I am or not, then Jesus is exalted, and He leads us to the Father! Remember, He dwells in the Praises of His people... Praise means to make God shine, not my emotions or circumstances. A good reference is the book of Psalms, although David mentions his hardships, He usually ends up saying how God is His fortress and strength. This is just my opinion, and what works for me and the congregation where I lead worship. I spend less time "speaking" or preaching, I personally believe Worship time isn't the time to preach or share, but that's just my opinion. I spend more time leading in song, speaking for the people in representation of them to God (Like priests did in Moses' time) and God to the people. Most importantly, more important than everything I just wrote, ask the Holy Ghost to teach you what to do specifically for the church where you are leading worship. He knows what the people need or don't need to hear. He gives us words to pray, surely He can give us words to say and especially to sing. Let Him lead you in all you do! Bless you!!
Thank you sir. My Name is James. Although, I don't lead worship myself because I play the keyboard. But, sometimes I see myself or feel I can lead worship because each time anyone is out there leading worship or praise, something inside of me keeps telling me "that's my place". But I'm always stock whenever I think of how to start, what to say in-between songs and how to lead my audience to worshipping God in spirit and in truth or make them feel the same way I feel during worship. But now I feel motivated through this content. So Thank you sir and please keep creating this kind of videos as world evolves because from now till the end of time the word of our God will never change. Thanks and More Grace.
Thank you! It is very useful to me. I have started leading worship in my Church and this video has addressed the very problem I was facing i.e. what to say in between the songs. May God bless you!
I am a Brazilian and I worship in an American Church ( In China) =) I feel like I need and I want to say something and most of the time it just doesn't come out, besides that, there is also a language barrier, I need to study more the bible in English and not only in my native language... Your video was really helpful! Thank you very much for sharing! God bless you and your channel!
I believe that whatever the Holy Spirit led u to do at the time of worship n thats it. Sometimes we don't know what to say n how to say but when we allow the Holy Spirit of God to do it for u, believe me, u will have no idea what comes out of your mouth at the time of worship n u will know n feel the presence of the Holy Spirit all over. I'm also leading our services n worship sometimes n I really thank God for the gift he has given to me.

I really appreciated this video. My husband and I have recently stepped into a worship coordinator position at our church and have been discussing this topic. It's difficult to gauge how often to speak or not speak. And what should or shouldn't be said. Thank you for all your helpful input!
Jake, solid tips and very thought provoking. I think I need to watch this video 4 or 5 more timed to really let the tips sink in. The invitation to worship, to actively participate in worship resonated with me. I need to extend a better invitation.
I remember, when the worship band sang "Oceans", they said, we should be aware, what we say, when we sing along, what we allow God, when we sing, that the spirit may lead us, where our trust has no limits.
I love learning and dig into the deep of worship and praises to the Lord 🙏💓 I have always wanted to sing praises and worship to Him without being like in a concert-typed or perform-liked.
Brothers & Sisters & friends, let us focus now to worship our great God & put our hearts into singing our hearts out, if you don’t know the song, you can learn from it by listening intently, or if you have a need from God, you can pray in your heart or under your breath but do not play on your phones or do not talk among yourselves yet, talk after church, ok? Then smile & invite them to stand up, clap their hands, lift their hands, lift their hearts to God & shout Hallelu-YAH! They can dance if the Spirit lead them, then use drum if it is a warfare songs & shout out to God to send legions of battle angels to win the city for God, mention the Name of your city & declare lost souls are coming to Christ & the devil have no hold on them ! If it is a love song to God, tell the congregation to sing it unto the Lord with their hearts!
I'm new in the ministry and I started to like and follow your videos because you explain well the things we need to hear about praise and worship. Thank you so much! God bless.
Jake these tips are solid, but I prefer one of the following... 1) Uhhhhhmmmm.... or 2) Play either the Top Gun or Star Wars Jedi theme on my guitar. I find these two options really usher people into the throne room. Joking aside - you've got a new subscriber :). Keep the content coming my friend!
There are times when I feel like I have prepared well for a short speaking transition, explanation, or exhortation, but when the moment comes to speak what I have prepared, a lot of times it feels really awkward. Not sure what I could do to make those moments feel more natural rather than awkwardly forced. Maybe it's just my general awkwardness really shinning haha
Thanks for sharing, Matthew. I feel ya. The same has happened to me. Sometimes if the moment doesn't feel right, I choose not to say what I planned, but sometimes I do it anyway and I'm surprised to hear positive feedback from the congregation even if I feel like it was a little awkward. I would say just keep at it and ask other leadership in your church what their thoughts are on your delivery and how you can improve.
my advice is not to prepare exact words to say, but an idea of what to say and why you want to say, the situation will help you to mould your idea into words so you communicate better.
I’m reading a book by Andy Stanley called “Communicating for Change” it’s an awesome book and an easy read. In the book there is a chapter about internalizing your message, It was really encouraging reminder and has been helpful when preparing the songs we lead and moments we speak. Because our songs/exhortations should really be apart of us like any childhood story, so that when the moment comes it’s not difficult to express.
Excellent organization of the types of speaking one should do before and between songs. I've done them all but not really thought about the type of speech it is. Thanks for this.
Ok this in some ways is really good but after being a Christian my whole life what you say in between worship songs should come naturally with what the lord has for you to say and declare over ur community or just have some soaking time the the lord which can really make some people comfortable with the church environment if they maybe new to this
When attending a church service as a child we sang a number of choruses and hymns in succession and then we went into praise and worship. We didn't mix them! It was the right way then. It's the right way now! Truth will never become a lie. Right will never be wrong! Instead of a so called praise and worship team with a soloist putting on a show for the congregation there should be a worship leader who identifies each chorus song or hymn to be sang then sings them in unison with the congregation. Remember. The people in church are a congregation who are there to worship God not an audience looking to be entertained by some sort of band!!!
Helpful, thank you! Taking 30-90 seconds is great, but not between almost every song. Having better transitions from song to song is important. How is this accomplished without talking between each song?
Yeah I definitley agree you don’t need to talk in between every song. Pick only one of theses this to say and pick one ideal spot to talk or pray in your service.
Thank you so much for this video brother...this video is of immense help for me...I'm selected as the new praise and worship leader....please keep uploading
Hey man saw your video great! Question: how about during a song and there’s a break in the song or an instrumental of song. At times I feel it’s necessary to say something to encourage them in worshipping. Just because there’s no words being song doesn’t mean they can’t worship and left up a cry. What are you thoughts? Thanks
Or also, how about letting the instruments "speak" into the lives of those attending service like in the days of David playing for King Saul? (Not saying no to your comment) Sometimes we diminish the value of what the band and instrumentalists carry as far as anointing goes. Sometimes, those instrumentals lead UP to those moments where you can say something worth saying. My personal opinion, which is just that: an opinion, is that we worship leaders don't know how to just be silent, and feel like we ALWAYS have to say something. God has silence at times, we too should learn to just be silent and bask in the atmosphere being created by instruments, or even just complete silence. However, in those instrumental moments, rather than focusing on what can I say, I actually think it's the perfect moment for the church people to say in their own words what we were just singing or what's in their hearts so that they can practice corporate worship. So you're definitely, right about your comment, I was just adding to yours. Hopefully it comes across that way.
