@@ShiftyGuy777 Depends on the game. As a CCA machine, in X the Space Angler isn't outright bad, just kinda mid but with the benefit of being very easy to drive. At 910kg it's actually the best of the CCA machines, it's just that the CCA stat spread doesn't play into what works in that game. In GX, letter stats are useless. Space Angler's only benefit in that game is its easy handling and to some extent its durability. Its acceleration curve is identical to many of the speed-focused machines but its top speed is abysmal. And its boost might as well be a D or E, not a C. Wow, I love how watching these episodes can give such different and new perspectives on characters. Even though I played F-Zero X and GX to death I still found Leon a bit boring and Beastman pretty cool (probably helped that his machine looks cool and he had great handling/stats) After watching this I now know more of Leon and find his story both heartbreaking and inspiring and find him so much more appealing. And Beastman...come across as a bit of a dick! Yes he has motivation and fair enough...I suppose that's why the writers did such a good job, not everything is so black and white, finding the common ground between those you think may be your enemies isn't necessarily as far fetched as it seems...
So what exactly makes Leon a beast? I mean, aliens are allowed on earth at this point, what makes him so different? At least Bio-Rex is a mutant, but even then, he is sentient and not just a savage monster. Beast Hunter is kind of a jerk in this.
The character is actually called Beastman. Beast Hunter is just the episode title! Also yes, I agree Beastman IS a jerk because he's basically like Gaston from Disney's Beauty and the Beast (if you get what I mean)!
They really seemed to get Rex's personality correct, knowing his age is like...9 or 13 or whatever it says it is in the instruction manual/s for F-Zero X and GX. This episode changed my perspective on a few characters, although I already liked Rex and think there is more to him than a dumb savage or whatever people may originally think.
It's simple really, Beastman likes to kill for sport, he doesn't care for money, or if the creature is senteint. His encounter with a crocodile surely changed his life as a whole. Also Bio Rex is kinda racist against humans, he also gives threats that he will eat people, but I assume it's just instincts kicking in.
19:15 that moment right there. that's why they never finished airing the dub on Fox Box! This show gets really adult at times. American Censors really underestimate what kids can handle. oh well, how fully they make a new game.
Huh. I wasn't expecting this episode to turn out like it did. I guess this is one of those times that game story and anime story butt heads. Still, it was a sad, sweet episode. And Beastman turned out not to be as much of an ass as he seemed... I guess he really does respect strength and honor.
+Joseph Collins Well he still told him to get out of here at the end, Beastman is still an ass for that in my book. Not sure what makes Leon a beast as opposed to just an alien anyway, only difference I see is he has some anger issues during full moons, lol!
so apparently Leon canonically is a really good racer and can be even as good as the ones in the task force but only joins once in a while. potentially he couldve been known in the anime as being the top racers had he not been nerfed with what he has to go through in his life. huh kinda explains why i beat the whole grand pirx with him lol he really is a top tier racer.
So in this show, Leon is a werewolf. Pretty cool twist though. Though, its really too bad this is Leon's only appearance in the entire series. He should have been a mainstay.
So there is this F-Zero sim on the game second life. Yes they have a fully functional race track, original and custom built cars, and yes it’s as awesome as it sounds. it’s a love letter to F-Zero. But 99% of its regulars are furries. (Relax they arnt the delinquency kind) except the people in FiLL, FiLL is a adult club that exists in the sim but is unrelated to the the F-Zero Theme. Any way I bring this up simply because of the Leon, and cause I haven’t actually said anything about it in previous episodes. It’s not the most polished f-zero simulated out there but it oozes that good old F-Zero vibe. Races against other users are especially intense. Current map is Big Blue, next map is Thunder Lightning Also if you see a fox with a black Cyberpunk jacket on an a distinct lack o pants named Wether, let her know Berserker says high. I've always found this episode to be the worst in terms of the changes made to the characters from the main series. In the main series, Leon is a very altruistic individual trying to earn money and support for the people of Zou, his homeworld, after it was devastated by a genocidal war. He's also not a werewolf, but rather an anthropomorphic cat... wolf... honestly it's hard to tell since he undergoes a drastic change in appearance from X to GX, going from a feline appearance to a canine one with some feline traits. Here he's... well, still a likeable character but far shallower, just being a werewolf in hiding, a short-lived love interest for Lucy and a plot device for Beastman's face-heel turn. As for Beastman, in the main series he's a bit of a well intentioned extremist - he hunts dangerous animals because he believes them to be a serious threat to humanity, and targets Bio-Rex for, well, obvious reasons, but he does go overboard with the whole thing. He's actually not bothered by Leon at all. But he's a genocidal piece of shit in the GP Legend continuity, using an old grudge (which isn't even elaborated on much) to justify hunting sapient beings for sport.
They needed to do something different for Leon's character. Basically if you look at the backstories, Octoman and Leon are both racing to provide a future for their respective homeworlds. If they did the same thing with Leon in the anime, viewers who were not familiar with the F-Zero canon may have called the writers "lazy" for writing the same backstory, thereby making almost the same episode. However, that said, they did not need to turn Leon into what they did. Also, why the character design changes? Almost all the characters kept the same exact design or very similar design for the most part as they had in the video games.
Still, I feel bad for Leon. Struggling and hiding but his love for Lucy will stay forever.
"Bart, Leon's machine is going slow."
"He's just trying to stay with Lucy."
No, Leon's just got really terrible AI. Hey-o!
His machine is awful, so either way Leon and Space Angler is screwed.
