Hey man I have a question so I recently changed my hand grips & installed new throttle tube. So when I started riding it I felt that my throttle response was slower & it was taking so much longer to advance while the rpm was going up quick like it’s suppose too please help
I just had throttle lag happen on my '01 Suzuki SV650s. This is my first bike, I'm mechanically inclined and have worked on cars but never a bike, came across your video and it helped me out A TON. you explained exactly what I did to cause the issue and explained thoroughly on how to resolve the issue. Bought the necessary tools to do the job, and now less than 1 day after seeing your video, she's purring nicely and back on the road! Your videos are very informative, please don't stop what you're doing brother 👊💪
DANG MAN thank you so much, I got an 82 yamaha XJ 650 maxim and this started happening to me about two weeks ago to the point where It was almost impossible to be in any traffic or else I'd be obstructing traffic until I could get up to speed, this helped me identify that problem and as soon as I took my carbs off I noticed two out of four of my butter Flys would just barley open. Your a God send man, keep up the work and you earned a follower 100%
This is a great video Dan. Now how about a fuel injected CBR that has the throttle flutter at speed but when trying to do hard acceleration or a load on the motor? Should I assume that the vacuum system is faulty?
I got this 2005 suzuki S83 boulevard I can idle sync the carbs but my throttle sync is off. At lower throttle the two carbs stay in sync. But if I blip it one carb will instantly react while the other hesitates. Mind I'm using the analog vacuum gauges.
'03 GSXR600 tossed it in DEALER MODE to see what CEL codes I'm gettin, bike tossed a TPS SENSOR... FIXED IT (both throttle body sensors BTW) adjusted the main to get the --C21 in the middle. NOW, the bike won't even THROTTLE UP PROPERLY AN I'm mean IT JUST DIES on trying to give it NORMAL THROTTLE as you would upon take off... is a pain to start WHEN ITS COLD to get it to EVEN IDLE. It'll fire up but wont really wanna idle till around 88°F (NEW THERMOSTATE TOO).... but still won't throttle up just bogs AND DIES like it's too gettin too much fuel AND NOT ENOUGH AIR. BIKES UNFORTUNATELY GOT 65K ON IT... Only mods is a K&N AND A YOSH BOLT ON CAN... AND BTW, when I WAS able to ride it before I replaced everything it WOULDN'T REV PAST 8-9K RPM.
Oh my God 65,000 miles that bike is kind of on the end of its life. if I was you I would do a compression test on the engine. I have a feeling the compression numbers are going to tell you a lot about what's going on with the bike. If it's never had a low end rebuild I'm going to say that the crank bearings are probably very bad shape at this point and probably have a lot of slop in them
@IFixShet posted couple shorts of the bike in its operatin. Was lookin through some forums recently an some were sayin fuel pressure regulator, though my WHOLE ASSEMBLY was newly installed just last year from QUANTUM FUEL SYSTEMS. But thinkn non the less for GP'S a compression test would be appropriate to jus see where the engines at anyways... God I hope this motors still good.🤦♂️
@robsnizzle7 it is rare to see a sport bike make it to 50,000 miles without needing some serious low-end bottom work and normally from over revving and hitting the tack constantly the bearings and cylinder sleeves get pretty worn out. A sportbike normally reaches high mileage around 20,000 Mi anything after that it's impressive that it's still on the road after 30,000 MI anything after that you're just plain lucky... I'm impressed that your bike is still driving around with that kind of mileage.
I appreciate it I just bought a 2000 yamaha yzf600r thundercat it has a problem idling but once I start going it’s fine I thought it was the carbs it’s just been hard to find anywhere around me that works on them
Nice explanation man can tell you know your stuff problem with my bike is it ran fine and I left it sat a month in the garage and and now the throttle lags but if I use choke it doesn’t lag I did rebuild the carbs and balanced it before I let it sit
So it sounds like you're running into ethanol damage which happens when a motorcycle sits for too long. It doesn't take long for the petrol to dry up leaving the ethanol behind whichThen clogs or makes the internals of the carbs sticky and the only way to get the ethanol out once again is to clean it. You should run your motorcycle once a week at most let it sit for 2 weeks but it needs to be started and run unless you're running stabilizer or ethanol free fuel you're going to run into carburetor problems constantly like this if you let the machine sit for any length of time without moving. Carburetors have breather hoses on them and so once the fuel or petrol fumes air out from the carb you're left with ethanol. My suggestion and you're probably gonna hate this is to clean your carbs again. I would make a bet that you've got some sticking Vacuum slides from ethanol build-up.
hey man loved your video I have a Kawasaki with similar problem is a bit pain to get it riding on low rpm specially in the city a bit bumpy and jerky specially when i pinch the throttle is not progressive is more like from 0 percent throttle jumps to 5 percent right when i barely pinch it is not carburettor is fuel injected zzr1400
i have a ninja 250 rebuilt the carbs and then i added a stage 2 dyno jet kit i’m using dj100 main jets and i get my needle clips on the 3rd groove just like DJ instructs and ever since i put the jet kit in i’ve got throttle lag only while taking off from a stop so i just pulled the carbs and bench sunc them and re adjusted the idle mixture screws got the idle perfect it’s definitely better than before but i still am getting throttle lag after the bench sync stumped now
That would not be synchronization problems unless they were really really out of whack. Your problem is most likely coming from fuel delivery problems one of your carbs is pulling more fuel than the other one at high RPM or one is getting less fuel and the other one is normal
I have a 2008 cbr 1000 sometimes out of no where when I go down to first and I’m going slow and then give it gas the bike stutters and kinda Boggs out and I’m giving it plenty of gas then out of nowhere the power mood back in then I get up into a higher rpm and it’s good
Your bike is fuel injected but you still have butterfly valves and you have four of them they all need to be synced up another issue could be your coils are starting to fail you should run an ohm resistance test on them to see if they're starting to go
having issues on a cbr400rr when taking off, the bike is fine. The moment it reaches 10k rpm it's starts to bog and stutter like it's being starved of fuel. Under 10k it's perfect with the occasional sputter. But once revved out iimmediately starts bogging and stuttering
So, dumb question: my bikes fuel injected, and has the same issue. It’s a 2014, I left it sitting for a couple years, so I’m thinking it may be clogged injectors. I’ve tried injector cleaner in the gas, doesn’t seem to help. Thoughts?
@@onthaloose I would say pull the injectors and clean them properly fuel injector cleaner is meant to just remove small particles over a period of time it's not going to do a thorough cleaning job that is necessary especially if the bike has been sitting you have a clogged spray pattern most likely
@@IFixShet thank you. I doubt I could take this bike apart myself to clean the injectors. Seems very daunting (it’s a fared cbr650r) Guess I’ll have to bring it in to the dealership. Damn. lol. Anyways, thanks man.

@jonathanspencer8305 flutter is very different than jet problems. Jet problems would normally cause idling issues and inability to take heavy amounts of throttle or dead spots in the RPM range while under power
@IFixShet Roger that thanks. I'm restoring a 5eb 01. The bike was neglected and the carbs were destroyed. Some chemical burn on the plastics for the vacuum in between. I went back to stock jets. It idles fine but stop signs, red lights are an enemy. The low end is choppy and stalling is going to bite me. The people before upgraded air box and exhaust so I think it's hungry for more fuel

Anyone have no issues until highway speeds? My Hayabusa will lag like the clutch is slipping then it bites. Not sure if its the clutch or maybe the chain has stretched? No idea. Just started recently hoping someone can confirm or help with other places to check.
If you're driving and you give it a bunch of throttle And the bike revs up but doesn't feel like it's going any faster And then you let off the throttle and it feels like it catches again that is a burnt clutch
Normally gear 4,5 and 6 can slip easier than 1 and 2 and 3 Because it takes more Torque to turn the clutch with a longer gear So normally you will notice slipping at higher speed gears
Well then things get very very very very very complicated quickly because you have an entire system of sensors that could be faulty creating the issue or it could be as simple as a fuel pressure regulator. When carburetors have these problems that can only be a couple things when fuel injection has these problems it can be a plethora of different things
Mine is with KTM duke 200, when i rev my throttle the rpm goes up but my speed remains constant until i slowly unrev to a certain threshold then the speed matches with it, then then rpm returns normal. Is this the same issue? Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me.

Mine is with KTM duke 200, when i rev my throttle the rpm goes up but my speed remains constant until i slowly unrev to a certain threshold then the speed matches with it, then then rpm returns normal. Is this the same issue? Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me.
