This is an interesting build. Imagine your minding your business then suddenly some shadowy figure in the distance gets closer and then rips you to shreds
Yes!!! It totally gives into that like monster that stalking his prey. I personally would be looking for reasons to stock the bad guys😂
If I may, Dhampir Beast Barbarian is so dope. So I'd combine these.
If only dhampir had good damage...
I was going Tabaxi, and get unarmed fighting style. With the beast you get the bite while raging and d8 claws
@@ameriasaidoneus2987 Beast barb weapons dont count as unarmed strikes, so theres a bit of conflict on your action economy.
Assuming new tabaxi with d6 claw + str, the unarmed fighting style might not be the best choice. Beast barb claws are also d6 + str, but they get a built in extra attack with them.
Now the flavor of the character? On point. Angry cat that gets more feral in combat sounds dope, but a little gimmicky.
Though with gloomstalker lvls, I could see someone play this as a Nargacuga or displacer beast hybrid.
@@Cosmic_K13 Would start off Gloom Stalker then being a hybrid anger boils over forcing levels from barbarian. Delays the benefits yet feels better for the hybrid.
So is dhampir monk, but I like that take too
I don’t actually think your ones works though as they are 2 different attacks,
While you can make your teeth monk weapons and even kensei weapons it you want
I did this for a werewolf character in curse of strahd. It was as good as you made it out to be.
I was just making this mix and decided to look up "ranger barbarian 5e" and boom first video I feel validated
So we need 6 levels to pull this of.
first turn we can make an additional attack because of dread ambusher. We take our bonus action to rage and engage the enemy.
Then we attack with the claw attack and proc the effect to make a second one, but this is a once per turn. We then make our dread ambusher attack and that is it 3 attacks.
Now if we went straight for either gloomstalker of beast barbarian we get the same at level 5 cause of extra attack.
Wait but I’m a Beast that can’t be seen in the dark😂
Yes that's why it comes online later to give you the four attacks. Level 8 exactly, or you could just take Dual Wielder feat and attack three times at level 4. And Four at 5. Then do the Gloomstalker stuff to attack five times at 8.
I do a lil pounce and rip open an NPC's throat with my bare hands😺😺😺
Barbarian Beast 7/Ranger Gloom Stalker 3/Fighter 2
A normal move speed of 40 feet increased to 50 feet on your first turn of combat. Has advantage on initiative rolls and wis to the roll. Can range on their first turn of combat if surprised to continue their turn normally. Can move half their 40/50 feet speed when they enter their rage. Can then make 4 attacks with advantage on thier first turn of combat and actions surge to make another 4 attacks with advantage.
Take it one step father, long tooth shifter. That way you always have 4 attacks. Assuming you can shift before combat.
A dip in war cleric could go well also, for another bonus action attack.
Do not fear the beast within for man is far more savage.
I know I’m a few months behind this but might I suggest a one level dip in monk to get a weaponized bonus action through Martial Arts.
At 1st level, your practice of martial arts gives you mastery of combat styles that use unarmed strikes and monk weapons, which are shortswords and any simple melee weapons that don’t have the two-handed or heavy property.
Your claws count as simple melee weapons. “When you enter your rage, you can transform, revealing the bestial power within you. Until the rage ends, you manifest a natural weapon. It counts as a simple melee weapon for you, and you add your Strength modifier to the attack and damage rolls when you attack with it, as normal.”
So now you can use the third part of martial arts which says. “When you use the Attack action with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon on your turn, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action. For example, if you take the Attack action and attack with a quarter- staff, you can also make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, assuming you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn.”
So a lvl 5 Beast Barbarian/lvl 1 monk should be making 4 attacks: two from extra attack, one additional from the claws feature, and one as a unarmed strike bonus action. Now the bonus action will only be doing 1d4+Str+rage but that’s no biggie and still decent damage.
I call it the Wolverine.
Two more lvls in monk opens up unarmored movement for an additional 10ft, Ki points that we can burn for additional attacks and the other options, deflect missiles, and whatever monastic tradition we pick. I’d suggest one that didn’t lean heavily on needing a high Wisdom.
A Bugbear gloomstalker and assassin rogue is another crazy combo. Expecially if you're like level 8 with 5 in gloom and 3 in rogue.. You're first round of combat is going to blow anything up, You get the guaranteed crits, extra damage, sneak attack, extra attack from the sneak attack and at 5th level and additional attack, Favored enemy varriet option for a d4, A fighting style, Hunters mark - zypher strike or searing strike and from being a bugbear extra sneak atrack damage (2d6) and reach... Basically as long as you hit they are going to die lol...
that is so DOPE
This is a cool combo
Legit never thought of this and I love vampires. Thanks!
Combo with simic hybrid for the grappling tentacles at level 5, unarmed fighting style, and other grappling related effects could be really fun/funny
Barbatos Lupus Rex: am I a joke
Hehehe... Bugbear, Beast Barbarian, Gloomstalker Ranger... if you're first you deal a shit ton of damage.
If i ever get to pull a lv10 ond shot or battle royal. I'm gonna pull this, but a step further.
lv10
3lvs beast barbarian
3lvs gloom Stalker ranger
3lvs echo knight fighter
1lv monk
race wildhunt shifter
always have echo active, and try to shift right before combat, if possible, reckless so they can't get adv but all these attacks get adv on the target.
roll initiative. Bonus Action rage, Action attack, 4 attacks with claws (2), dread ambusher(1), and Unleash incarnation(1). Action Surge repeat.
they can only pull this once per long rest but it's quite the combo.
If the target lived they can use their remaining bonus actions to use martial arts. take unarmed Fighting for your fighter Fighting style, so the unarmed strikes are are d8s or at least d6 (if your DM says eatch claw counts as holding a weapon).
as for ranger fighting style blind Fighting, incase target drops magic darkness.
this is terrifying...I LOVE IT
How would you point buy this build?
Barbarian - 13 STR
Ranger & Monk - 13 DEX 13 WIS
The Monk level might be a bit unnecessary, but going 6 Shadow Monk with it could be dope, 7 Gloomstalker gives you wisdom saves.
1 Barbarian D12 Hit, Con saves, rage only works with Strength. War Cleric might be a better 1 level dip. 15+1 Str 14 Dex 12+2 Con 10 Int 13 Wis 8 Cha, you wouldn't get any ASI this route either. I would say pick your poison
6 Echo Fighter (2 Feats)
7 GS Ranger (Wisdom Saves)
6 Barbarian (claws are magical
1 War cleric.
level 20 build
11 Echo Knight x 3 Gloomstalker x 3 Beast Barbarian (ps this is your bonus action to get the rage bonus) but Gloomstalker and this should give you more attacks under action surge
And if you're a bugbear ..😂
No way we made actual cannibal Shia LeBouf
Then take levels in fighter for action surge. 8 attacks first turn of combat with two of them getting extra d8.
another combo I recommend
Bear totem barbarian
Cavalier fighter
It's a tank build
I don't know why but this sounds like a shifter would be the perfect race
Throw in fighter action surge for 8 attacks
But you can’t use any ranger spells in rage including pass without trace the one of the best spells available to a half caster
Pass Without Trace is more of an out-of-combat spell. In actuality, raging encourages you to conserve spell slots in combat allowing you more castings of utility spells during exploration.
PWT is more of an out of combat spell, or Well it has a duration of one hour so you could get multiple surprises from one cast so maintaining that concentration would be verry great, also rangers get entangle, spike growth and if you don’t care about crowd controll hunter’s mark, they are a half caster, don’t take that away with rage, gloomstalker is great, a single extra attack with a d6 base damage is not that good
Tldr: How to out perform a level 20 fighter at level 8.
Literally an anticombo.
If you want more attacks then multiclass into fighter for an entire attack action(2 attacks) instead of 1 extra attack with gloomstalker.
Being invis as gloomstalker is good but barb doesn't need advantage, he has reckless attack anyways.
Damage mitigation from invisibility is nice except you are the tank, you want people to hit youbecause you have resistance. Now you are invisible and the enemy will attack your wizard.
Lastly you are playing a half caster with rage which disables spellcasting.
There is no combo here, you are just combining two individually strong subclasses in a bad way and it still works out fine simply because both parts are pretty good.
Pretty sure he's just going for the vibe which this combos oozes... But go off mate lol
It should be noted this doesn't come online until at least level 6.
Obviously. If he stated both of the subclasses he is pairing, and both classes don’t get subclasses until third level. This is obviously when it starts
@@antuanlemon484 This info is for new players. It wasn't pointed out in the video and these details aren't as obvious to them. Thanks tho, I guess.
@@jacobnavarro3675 ahh yeah I gotcha. That makes sense lol I wasn’t thinking outside my own perspective my bad
@@antuanlemon484 No worries. Done it plenty of times myself. I deal with lots of new players so I'm usually watching out for them. I should have made it clear who this was for.
Its cool but to get 4 attacks you would need to be at level 8 and by that point it wouldn't really be effective until level 9 when your claws become magical. You can't count on your dm giving you a magic item that would let your claws overcome magic resistance.
The eldrich claw tattoos are an uncommon item that do just this. Given its rarity I’d say it’s not a stretch to ask your dm for it around that level. They also give a +1 to attack and damage. As well as another 1d6 force damage to each attack when you use it’s charge and making every attack have 15ft range. Ghost punch the shit out of people. It’s only once per day though so you have to use it sparingly. But the +1 and magical bonus are forever
The problem with this build is that you need 13 in 3 stats and you want a decent con. While raging you cannot cast ranger spells so you probably want barb x/ ranger 3. Your fighting style is probably going to defense as I am not sure if you can attack with twf since they are not held. With this limitation you also delay when you can by pass magical resistance with that weapon so your combo is probably delayed to level 9 but some people may want to be level 7 barb for feral instincts. But if you rolled stats you can have a consistent place for initiative.
To do two weapon fighting you would need the duel wielder feat as the claws don't count as light (Same for the armourer's gauntlets) also defence fighting style would be pointless as you need to wear armour which would cancel out your unarmoured defense
@@mrummgoat53 Barbarians can wear Medium armor. You are going to want 14 dex, but after that its freeing you up to focus on str and con, with your WIS staying at 13.
I imagine a Aswang character, thank for the idea
So what your saying is a straight roll to hit you because of reckless attack Avantage and disadvantage cancel out
The beast barbarian extra claw attack is only once per turn, and I only Know this because I’m playing one right now. That’s one of the sad things about the subclass is the most of the unique natural weapon abilities like the claws and bite are once per turn.
the bite was way too nerfed, it's almost pointless except for flavor.
Okay, he's talking extra attack, which gives you three attacks with the extra one from claws and Gloomstalker's Dread Ambusher gives you an extra attack on the first round of combat for four. Then likewise if you took a level of monk or just the Dual Wielder feat you could get a bonus action attack as well.
Everyone already has disadvantage when attacking in darkness even with dark vision….
That depends on the range of the attack. If someone is fighting you in the darkness and both of you have dark vision you can see each other and you’re only lightly obscured if you are within Melee range so you don’t have disadvantage on hits. In the case of this build you become invisible in darkness so your enemy will have disadvantage to hit you and you advantage to hit them.
So does that mean that regular weapons are rendered irrelevant? Can you use a regular weapon at the same time as the natural weapon if you take claws?
I may do this for a dragonborn or dhampir.
beast barbarian is just severely underpowered. the dmg doesn't scale in any way
Yeh, only good for up to level 7-9 campaigns.
But exploration wise is actually one of the best.
What book is the beast barbarian subclass in?
It’s in Tashas Cauldron of Everything
What is the song playing like specific version

@@zacmunford I saw that ty either way
What's the creature in the background on the page?
It’s vampire named Sandesyl Morgia. They are in Hoard of the Dragon Queen
@@zacmunford right on thank you
This build isn't really GOOD, though. There's really no benefit to the synergy. Gloomstalker gives an extra attack and advantage on the attacks on that turn, that's all. It really has the same relative effectiveness with any build. With a Fighter, Monk, Rogue, or otherwose Gloomstalker gives... still +1 attack, at advantage. Now you could argue that Gloomstalker giving advantage to your attacks on the first turn is very valuable, but unfortunately, as a Barbarian, Reckless as your main source of advantage really makes that not matter as much.
Build seems cool in concept, definitely, but the 2 classes don't have much synergy with eachother. Especially because you need high strength, 13 dex, and 13 wisdom, meaning you have little left for Constitution. The 5-15 extra HP from straight Barbarian is gonna make up that 1 turn of not using Reckless.
Not to mention the extra barbarian features
I think you’re overthinking this you’re a monster ambushes your prey it’s a fun build but it is mainly thematic.
So it's something made more for the role-playing aspect of the game of DnD, and not soley a highly efficient combat form. With that being said, it still has mostly only positive advantages without many disadvantages while still upholding the original image of roleplaying. I'm A Fan.
@@zacmunford Why it's so good:
