    I bought this recently and I think the sounds are great compared to my old line six pods, both guitar and bass. I cannot use my amps in present location. For the price you can't argue they aren't great sounding. Upgraded my headphones to beyer dynamic dt 990 pro and happy all round. Been using Audio technica phones since 80's but the Beyers are whilst quieter, probably impedence, are much more detailed and separated in the stereo feild.

    You CANT wear wireless headphones because of the latency.

    • @Scott__C
      @Scott__C 6 месяцев назад +1

      I agree. I don't think it's quite there yet. Generally, devices that use bluetooth either it doesn't matter (like listening to music) or something like for zoom/teams/meets meetings, and we all know how great those are.

    • @rmax5150
      @rmax5150 6 месяцев назад +3

      That is definitely a problem with many "wireless" headphones, i.e. (Bluetooth). I've tried many different ones myself and been disappointed so many times. But, there are some that you don't have that problem with. At least to the point that it's noticeable. But of course, that efficiency and/or accuracy comes at a price that IMO, may not be worth it for many. Just my worthless two cents, lol. Cheers!

      @@rmax5150 Aren't those usually ones where the company makes both pieces? They probably have the software set up a separate, prioritized connection.

      Half correct, but you have to use a dedicated "in-ear" set with a dedicated transmitter & receiver" to avoid Bluetooth latency

      I haven't seen anybody go out of the headphone jack, into a pair of powered monitors.
      Wondering if it would sound like any other modeler, or if it has some sort of funky sound that only translates thru headphones.

    Great review. You make a good case for using it for an interface and substitute for a lot of plugins. If I was buying a practice amp plug today, I'd definitely be getting the Katana. But I have a ~4 year old NuX Mighty Plug that I only use for late night practice, and the Katana doesn't change my main issue with the MP: wired headphones.

    As I mentioned before its an option overload piece of gear like the Spark amp, still will get one though! And as a side note the JHS Notaklon was well worth the 4 month wait! Dont know what the genuine article sounds like but it is awesome, sounds good by itself or driving other dirt boxes.

    I love this little device but saying that I only have two minor problems with it. The first is that once the battery wears out you might as well throw it away cause you can’t put a new battery in it which actually is a big issue. The second thing is they’re saying it last up to 5 hours before needing a recharge I’m only getting about 3 hours. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

    It actually sounds really good. Not that you'd expect anything else from Boss.
    As for the BT headphone, I wouldn't be surprised if Boss adds that functionality later, if the chipset supports it. In that case the technical challenge lay more with all the different BT implementations. Especially on Android devices.

    I have owned the Vox amplugs (even a rock master) as well as the new Fender mustang Plug and sold it for Nux which is a lot like this, not as cool looking and also has the app! I sold that too however because there was no Loop recorder that would make these priceless practice tools! A reason I like the whole Mooer prime, s1, p2, all the gtrs stuff, is the 80 second looper though I find it over priced. Anyways. Can this be put into an effect loop or ABY then headphone ported to powered speaker? That is how I would use this if possible. Thank You. Also, You never explained what You actually thought about Mitchell and they re products, especially being a former higher up in the Guitar Center Business. I Love that BC Rich. I always fall for Washburn and Randall has been letting Me down with Explosive Prices. Last but not least, I’m disappointed that this doesn’t have a Rectifier Model, like the new Pod express has no INSANE lol! You Rock Robert and keep it up! Great Channel!

    i love my Boss Katana and GT-1 and want this but am bothered by the notion that one day that little internal battery is going to die and then all you have is a disposable brick and a product which is likely no longer made which is why they should make it so once the internal battery does die you can just slide it out (like you do when replacing the battery on a snark clip on tuner) and there you go you have a product that lasts a lifetime not just a few years.

    • @RobertWJackson
      @RobertWJackson  6 месяцев назад +1

      I bet that sometime in the next year or so, a few people will start posting videos about how to replace the battery on your own. I’m sure Boss will also offer support for this via their manufacturer’s warranty, as well.

    wireless headphones with bt suck because of bt's latency to the point they become useless with timing critical devices like instruments. if you wanted to go wireless you'd need a different kind of radio protocol, maybe offer that as an upgrade with a plug-in 3.5mm trs module that you velcro-strap to the device and your headphones?
