Trying out this thing called Boss Katana Go, you plug it into your ass and your farts sound amazing! I would recommend using the Brown preset for this...
pbbbbt. got that 'stage feel' in my shorts. my kingdom for a clean channel. Like that harmony setting, wonder if you can pick the interval of said harmony. Was quite "Bill n Ted" sounding, which is cool I guess.
Love your Channel Ola, Wish you could have done a "Will it Chug" for the Boss Pocket GT or the NuX Mighty Plug Pro since the Katana Go isn't available in my country.
You should make a Chug Pedal small little plug amplifier thingy. If I had a thing that I could just plug into a guitar with some earphones that sounds like I'm trying to play In Footstep of Giants.....hooyah!
I think there's just way too much latency with bluetooth audio for playing an instrument still. When you use bluetooth on your phone watching youtube etc, the reason it isn't a problem is because your phone delays the video to match the audio delay through bluetooth so that they match up better.
Well my heart just broke. Love the x style guitar, and wanted to buy one for my son. he has been playing one of my old ltd ex guitars since he started playing. Hey boss, here’s some idea, put it built in to your wireless footswitch pedal and probably also a bigger battery so it can last longer. You can name it Katana Pedal
@@spanneng then it doesn’t fit on your pocket anymore. What i mean is, putting katana go dsp directly to FS 1 WL footswitch. Man, I can't imagine this being possible when I was a teenager just learning. Had you come up to me and said there'd be an amplifier simulator that you plugged right into the guitar jack and you control it with a portable phone, I'd have thought you were insane yet here we are.
Korg released the Pandora PX1 in 1996 which was a similar deal, just slightly bigger form factor. The unit was actually pretty sick considering it came out almost 30 years ago.
See the more We make the budgeted stuff sound awesome, the better I believe! 😊 But, to be on the safe side, it's always use the proper recording gear! 😉🤘
So, BOSS basically updated the Pocket GT by removing the need for an instrument cable, ditched the hard buttons for more "on phone" control, added dedicated bass amps, upgraded from micro-USB to USB-C, and it retails for less than the Pocket GT did. Excellent work, Roland/BOSS. One company that isn't trying to screw the consumer. They continue to prove themselves again and again. Now, I need to add one to my current Roland/BOSS amps.
Mk1 50 watt combo is a nasty Amp! I fucking love mine! I was torn between that and the fender bassbreaker, and I'm just so glad I made the choice I made!
I tried them, like the artist model and felt it lacked resonance or just sound stage though, it was more cut sound. I did mess with it a bit, couldn't for too long in store. But got DT25 instead as I tried it after heh.
Regarding using Bluetooth earbuds, they have horrible latency. About rhe best you can get with modern Bluetooth codecs is 40 ms and most are far more than this. I believe the Apple Airpods have at least 130ms latency, and usually a lot higher. That's unusable for playing guitar.
Let's be honest....we'd all have KILLED for this tone 30 years ago when we were rocking Crate GTX and Peavey Bandit amps....these little boss emulators are light years ahead of even most of the good tube amps available then (JCM 900, etc)
To be honest, I'm not even sure what constitutes a "truly great tone" from something like this unit anymore. I mean... does it lie in the complexity of the tone? I think this sounds fine really... It's more of a taste thing now, I think.
Oh man that Crate GX15. It sounded like cr*p. Having used unreliable fender stuff for the past decade, I'm loving my Katana 50 mkii. This little katana go looks great!
Just got one of these yesterday and blown away by it! I can now practice downstairs properly. It's not replacing my Kemper stack but for downstairs and portability it is a fantastic device. Wish I had one years ago.
I watched all the drop day videos and immediately pre-ordered one. It will be here on Saturday. One day before my 54th B'day. I can tell you right now, back in the day, we couldn't even imagine anything like this existing. Of course, there was no internet, no cell phones, and no digital anything either. What a great time to be a guitar player.
You did miss one of the key features, you can load up/stream a song or youtube vid of a song into the device via the app - to then play over. And you can also set loop markers so you can practice over a specific part of it. Its like the ultimate 'learner/beginner' practice amp.
I want one just because I hear I could plug it into my phone and record riff ideas and stuff...no other pedals, no amp, no mics, nothing. Just that thing, a cable, a guitar and my phone. Handy!!
Does the app to run the device cost any money. I got rid of the katana 50 due to them wanting money every month to use an app on my phone. I am not going to do that.
Looks great. I have the fender micro and it's legit one of the best products for practicing. This looks like the step up I've been patiently waiting for. At these price points anyone playing needs one. Great to use in shops trying gear for consistency plus you just always have an amp on you if you want that.
Thank you ola. I was looking into one of these for teaching. Easy to transport. Was awaiting you review as your the only gear reviewer I trust. Keep up the good work!!!
Yes it will be easy for you to carry to your lesson. If your teacher has a Bluetooth speaker it will be excellent. But, if my tutor came to my door with one, I'd start looking for a better teacher. Far too complicated and expensive to be waving in students faces. Sets a poor example of Gear Acquisition Syndrome that is a cancer in the music learning industry.
@@carnage77 this is like a $120 piece of gear. If you think this is too complicated and expensive, what do you recommend for a cheaper less complex amplification option? My guitar teacher back in the day had a fender twin reverb and this thing costs less than a set of tubes would for that old amp.
