As much as folks talk about Famu's cleanliness, it's obvious that they cannot write music that's played at a concert level. And, if they try to play above concert level, they lose,; balance, cleanliness, tonation, everything just goes out of the door. Everyone can hear it except the famu lovers.
SU is STILL the King of bands! They sound and looked amazing on the field and in the stands!

Their scholarship dollars went down
With VSU I think it has more to do with funding being reduced from the program probably. Several yrs back I know they usually had 160 to 180 pcs total unit. Hopefully they will rebound.

norfolk vs southern reminded me of ncat vs southern in 2022. Both bands had strong tubas but the songs the entire band was playing wasn’t what everyone wanted when going against southern
I swear kb, I feel the same dam way..... naw they ain't wanna play that smmfh. They coulda played "be scared" and done better than that.... the only thing I will say is 1 song vs 1 song aint enough of a battle to be considered a battle.

Why do people mistakingly assume that because you're loud and powerfully, you have no clarity? Yes, if you play at a lower part of the scale and slower, you will sound cleaner(at least you should), however, lower and symphonic doesn't always get the dub. Unless you're from Florida and just don't understand. If Su played the their songs without the power and down to the levels y'all expect; it would still be a wash out. Really?

Man FAMU has fallen off. I remember going to those Tsu and famu classics in Atlanta every year growing up. FAMU band was always what people came to see, but now not so sure.
The only people who truly enjoy FAMU are the poor students who have to listen to them on campus every week. They don’t know any better. They be at the games singing Purple Carnival like it’s Dreams and Nightmares. Smh. Bizarre.

He’s now an assistant director at Southern. He was hired by Dr. Taylor literally 1-2 weeks after this event.

I played for Chipman at Miami Central b4 he went to FAMU.We was great then but now he is washed up.they need to let him go and get a whole new set up.He remind me of the director from drum line.just embarrassing.
