I'm with you. People get so bent out of shape that it doesn't sound anything like Tyson. And yeah this is true but I think what they were trying to get at is how excited Tyson gets when talking about science.
That and how ridiculous people are getting over this eclipse. $30 paper eclipse glasses on Amazon, people disaster shopping thinking it's gonna mean the end of the world and crap. Even though this happens sometime around the world every two years.
For me? It's comedy. Did it make me laugh? Ya, it did!! That's all you can and should expect from a comedy show.

This impression is simultaneously terrible and perfect. Like, I would never confuse the guy in this clip for the actual Tyson, but at the same time it captures the essence of the man so well. It's the same way I feel about Kate's Ellen DeGeneres impression; the real Ellen doesn't squirm around in her chair or say "I'm Ellen" in every other sentence, but at the same time it just feels like Ellen.

SNL has taught me that impression accuracy has little to do with how funny the end result is. Look at Dana's wild impressions in the early 90s, for example. If you don't get this, you don't get Keenan.

Some people say that was a bad impression of Tyson. I disagree, because it captures what is funnier in Tyson, the fact that he's got super excited with everything, he laughs of everything, even his own sci-fi or science jokes. That's why it's a perfect impression.

This sucks. The fact that this sketch is actually a highlight, highlights just how shitty SNL has become. The vast majority of the time it seems like the cast isn't even making a legitimate effort to pull off a proper parody. They just dress up and deliver flat, dimwitted lines with no soul. It's lazy and insulting to watch. This show's gotten so lame that I can't watch it any more.

I didnt find this skit very funny...coming from a man who has a very thick skin and great sense of humor! NDG is a very intelligent, classy, and informed individual, and i think a better impression of him wouldve done him more respect! Im sure he wont be retweeting this skit.
