    Idea#1 ask questions. I do and people end up stealing idea and present it as theirs in meetings where I am not present. Idea# 2: Volunteer for challenging project. I end up making things run smooth and make things easy so people make it sound like it was not challenging. Basically they refuse or fail to recognize and value the work.

    Hey Kara ! I am fresher at my workplace and most senior staff doesn't take me very seriously, how can I make 'em look me up more serious ?

    • @kararonin
      @kararonin  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mayank, thanks for your question! When you're new to your career, it can be challenging to get people to look at you seriously. But the best way to achieve this is to ask questions. Act interested in your work. Ask your boss questions about what you're doing, why you're doing it etc. You can also request stretch projects or more difficult tasks to work on. All of this shows your keen to improve and grow as an employee. Over time, they will notice this and they will realise that you're a high-performing employee and they'll start to take you more seriously. This will take time, but if you're dedicated to your career, it can work.

    I've been vocal on speaking about the project I was working on to my team, but a colleague of mine brutally criticized my work. He was a jealous person with a huge ego that was used to having all the glory. My boss took his side, which was also humiliating. I need to talk someone else that believes in me, so I'm trying to build connections with other managers. I don't want to be passed up for a promotion at work. What do you suggest I do to expedite the promotion process?

    • @kararonin
      @kararonin  Год назад +1

      This is a difficult situation to be in, Carol. It seems that you're being overlooked at work and your boss has made a close connection with one of your coworkers. You're likely facing an issue of favouritism. Building connections with other managers is a great idea. Building connections with other coworkers in your team can also help. If you get those coworkers on your side, they can act as a form of public support for you in meeting when you talk about your project. More difficult, but coming up with compelling reasons as to "why" your project is good for the company and in line with the company's objectives is something you can try too. These are objectives that your boss can't deny and if she/he sees your project aligns with those objectives, it gives them a reason to support you.

      Thanks for your comment. In the middle of this video the external mic dropped out and sound was recorded with internal mic so had a lot of echo. The rest of the video still has some echo, it's because of where I film. Unfortunately at the moment, I'm limited to filming in this one place. But this will be fixed in the future as I continually improve my videos.

    Kara....Your video may be great but you take too much time to advertise more of your work and it disengages my attention to your topic. I would say you need to find out a way, you, to include your promotion of other videos without taking the attention from us. Maybe, maybe, close to the end of your dissertation ....by then you have convinced us of your work....good luck.

    Wouldn't some of this come off as brown nosing tho? Why can't my worl just do the talking? I don't want tonplay these games and politics

    • @kararonin
      @kararonin  2 года назад +1

      I get where you're coming from James. But if it's done in the right way, you won't come off as brown nosing. It's about linking your contributions and achievements to the bigger picture ( company's goals). How have you helped the company? Your work might sometimes get noticed (if you have a good boss) but not always. For those times you feel overlooked, these tips can work.

    I love the way you do your vlog always direct. I have a question, is it okay to posts your achievements and work accomplishment at work on your fb or Instagram? Particularly if you are a quiet person or introvert and you don't tell anyone except of you are asked, unfortunately we are not using LinkedIn many of my colleagues are doing the same also posting their work accomplishment on fb.

    • @kararonin

      Thank you so much Rolan! In your case, since you and your work colleagues don't use LinkedIn, it's ok to post your accomplishments on FB or IG.

    Hi Kara, this is a great help!
    I tend to be a bit shy and really struggle with the visibility aspect, my manager has even expressed this to me which is troubling. They tell me to show off my projects but I'm not really sure how to do that, do I email managers milestones? Bring it up in meetings? What would you suggest?

    • @kararonin
      @kararonin  2 года назад

      Thank you so much for watching! What you're experiencing is very common. It can be hard to be more visible when you're on the shy side. I would definitely talk about what you do/milestones in meetings. You can e-mail your managers to tell them of your milestones too. You can also highlight in one-on-one meetings/performance reviews you have. I actually have another video which I think will be perfect for you. It's about how to be more visible without showing off and it talks about getting visibility in more indirect ways (which fits more when you're shy) ruclips.net/video/RlTU3JABbAo/видео.html On top of what I say in this video, I would encourage you to get advice from your boss. If they've expressed that you need to be more visible it seems they're invested in helping you grow. Perhaps you can talk to them. Ask them "how" they think you could be more visible. Is there any specific recommendations/suggestions they can give you? A conversation like this can be very helpful.
