I own the same bike and colors as yours. I use it daily, as a commute bike to work and I do food shopping with it too. This machine is just superb all around. Yes, not perfect, but for me its wonderful. I am 6'4"/202 lbs and the sitting position with the foot pegs and back rest is perfect. At times, I forget I am riding on 2 wheels. The DCT is incredible. Sport Mode makes this machine totally, another animal. The night time display is spot on. Ride on and be safe....You will not regret owning this machine.
@@Paul_Zernick That's right. Was not cheap, but worth it. This bike can take you for many happy miles without seeing the dealer. Just stay on top of the oil changes with the DCT.
Really nice video and so true about looking after oneself especially after the age of around 40. I have been intrigued about the goldwing and fascinating to see it used on a daily basis and not just on tours.

If I need to carry something and I'm getting onto some hectic roads or lose to city, I run my VFR1200F. If I have a backpack only and just have to hit every light 1st, R1. I live SW Sydney. By motorway, 40min from city. I'm happy to wing it out here, or cross between suburbs etc. Motorway is fine, if busy, so long as traffic moves can worm my way through. Bumper 2 bumper, can filter, but yeah, you won't do a full row of cars. Chuck heavy vehicles into mix & yep, your done. But outside peak hour, it's definately doable. Jusfinished a run into gym at 7pm with a fair share of lane splitting. 👍😉
@@Paul_Zernick Thanks for the response 🙂, and yes I saw some of your other videos where you mentioned that you're ex-army and retired... very lucky! Admittedly, I initially thought that you were somewhere in the UK but the number plates were nothing like UK plates and the weather was too nice for it to be like here in soggy England 😂. Not sure if you've discussed this but how do you find the weather protection on the bike? Specifically in rainy or cold weather. Appreciate that it probably doesn't get all that cold in Sydney. Last but not least has your other/better half been on a ride on the goldwing yet? and if so, what are her thoughts on pillion comfort? I am asking because I currently own a 1250GS and although the pillion seat is quite comfortable, the goldwing definitely looks much better from a pillion point of view, and seeing the likes of yourself and a few others use the Goldwing like a normal bike suggests that it is extremely versatile and dare I say fun as well.
@@ritfloyd if ya like going crazy, don't sell the GS. I've done dirt on my VFR1200F & would love to adve a VFR1200X. Or a GS. If coin no issue maybe a pan American or Tiger 1200 in future. Alot of dirt backroads in Oz but. All bitumen? Sure wing/GTL away. Though the smart money would go GL. Got 764 different screen for wings. 438 different wind deflectors etc. No shortage of bike bling. Cold? Pfft. I've spent thousands on riding gear. Rain? Same. Heavy enough & long enough eventually something will trickle in. Never been soaked. Never been cold. Chilly, bit wet, sure. It's a bike. Coldest just above 0. Not keen to ride snow or ice yet. I'll take out the big SRT Jeep instead 🇺🇸 👍Mrs rarely joins. Doesn't complain if she does but. Best pillion seat out there. Only fattest, slowest, most customised Harley might exceed. But I blow them all away like they're standing still, so, yeah, there's that😎😂👍
I have a 2018 DCT. Put it in sport mode and open the throttle from dead stop. It surprised the heck out of me. It about ripped my hands off the throttle. I wasn't expecting that.
@@Paul_Zernick No backrest on mine as of yet, but that is my next addition. Sport mode made my head snap back along with the flailing hands on the throttle. I felt like an idiot on a wild horse hanging on for dear life accelerating away from traffic. The thing is I've rode 1000cc Sport bikes for three decades, but never expected this thing to pull that hard.

This holds the crown & for good reason. It's worth every penny. Definately getting what you pay for. #icon💯❤️🇦🇺

Only happens once😝😂 and I have a utopia backrest. Can't imagine if it wasn't on. Be sitting on the pillion figuring out how I got there🤔😂
