Nissan should make a model called "The Banned from Bathurst Edition" with 1200 horse power.

Would be nice, cause nissan love their limited editions. What colour godzilla do you think it would be? 🤔

@@jdmlifeline The same color formula as Brad Sherriff's R32 that clocked 327 km/h in 2023 at Bathurst would be sufficient. I'd even go so far as to black out those headlights to send a message that Nissan is 100% behind Sheriff's work.

I have mixed (good) feelings for this project at all.
The japanese engineers in mid-2000s wanted the performance potential from the Fairlady (Z32) on the Skyline (R32/33/34), but that meant creating internal competition. When the Fairlady got revived for the 2000s, it was on the path of becoming the most powerful and fast Fairlady ever built, with the Skyline becoming a classic sedan (V35, Intinity) with its sports version (GTR-35). But one can notice that the Fairlady is merely the "pocket Skyline" and, being cheaper, it shaves a lot of potential buyers from the Skyline. In the past, the road drifting car was solely the coupe/sedan 4-seat, while the grand tourer 2-seat machine was destined for the circuits.
In the end, the Skyline R35 was able to fulfill all the promises that were limited in the past by the body commitment. Even today, the 2008 price still more or less the same. The US$ 70,000 from 2008 release, adjusted to 2024 accounting inflation, is basically US$ 106,000. Not far from the actual US$ 120,000 asked. Yet, you can buy some junky ones for US$ 40,000 more or less. Carlos Ghosn was right: A supercar for anyone, anywhere, anytime. The GTR-35 proved to be a tough machine to beat, but even when people say that the "current hype must be the R34", people don't realize that they can buy a supercar for half of the speculative bubble of US$ 200,000 on a junky R34 with lots of rust and miles on the weak RB26 engine.
With the remaining US$100,000 you can extract more power and better gearing to reach 400 kph safely and be able to discuss anything with 4 people inside. Some russians at DragTimes did that years ago. The one and only Skyline able to cross the forbidden boundary. Good luck gawking at junky R34s everywhere.

Both great picks. Old school is cool definitely but since the R35 is about 20 years old, do you think it can be considered as oldschool?

@@jdmlifeline disagree with this. They may look the same at a superficial level, but if you know all the incremental changes they've done over the years, there's no way a 2009 R35 is "the same" as a 2024.
