    Coach Napier believes in his players and his players believe in him. The talent and character of the young men who will be added to the program this year and beyond will get us to level that we need to be to compete and win in the SEC. Folks, it's a long and tedious process but it's surely, in this old man's humble opinion, well under way!
    Good prospective Ali, as always. Keep it comin' and GO GATORS!!!

    Florida fans do need to be patient. The talent on this team is young. No matter who coaches this current team, the Gators are nowhere close to championship caliber. Dan Mullen left us bankrupt in talent. In a couple of years, Florida will have talent and depth.

    The other thing to factor in is that when Kirby took over at Georgia they had a good roster not a depleted rebuild project like Billy got when he came to Gainseville. Thanks for all the info and content you give us Ali

    • @barrone71
      @barrone71 10 месяцев назад +8

      Correct. The program Kirby took over at GA would be the equivalent of a new HC taking over Penn St after this season, Napier took over a broken and under talented program

    • @FightingMexican
      @FightingMexican 10 месяцев назад +2

      This narrative is old. 24/7 had UF ranked as one of the top 15 most talented teams to start last season. Saying something over and over again doesn’t make it true.

    • @clarencedolan699
      @clarencedolan699 10 месяцев назад +2

      Kirby won 7 games his first season, including losses to Vandy and Ga. Tech. That roster was ok…..

    • @barrone71
      @barrone71 10 месяцев назад +6

      @@FightingMexican it’s not a narrative, it’s the truth. HS recruiting rankings mean nothing once players step on campus. It also doesn’t show where that talent is and if it’s deep at only a few positions or balanced.
      Fla was a terrible team in 2021 and 2022 talent wise compared to the teams on their schedule (SEC, FSU, Utah non Conf games) and are still not rebuilt to the level it needs to be in 2023.
      GA when Kirby took over was winning 10 games a year practically every year under MRicht and just needed someone to get them over the top (like Penn St currently). If that 24/7 composite ratings was such a valuable factor then there would never be any upsets in CFB. There’s far more elements in play and sadly for Fla, they are a depleted and broken program that hopefully Napier can build up and get back to glory.
      It’s going to take time, atleast 1 more season but probably 2

  • @IsomPhilips

    As a Georgia fan living here in Fl I absolutely agree with Billy's assessment. The worst thing Gator fans can do is turn on this guy. I want to beat the Gators in the worst way every year but I also want the game to be competitive and both teams be at their best. I believe if the Administration and fans give Napier a chance he will get them where they want to go. It's just going to take patience. He's doing things the right way. I go back to Kirby's first few years at Georgia and there were a lot of fans who were not happy with him early on. Another thing, Kirby really likes and respects Billy and has been very complimentary of the job he's doing.

    • @fretfix1
      @fretfix1 10 месяцев назад +1

      I feel we might be in trouble if opposing fans are singing the praises of Billy, and their head coach is happy with his progress. I am sure Kirby is just fine with where Florida stands. Billy definitely has a chance and should be given some time, but he has to be willing to make some wholesale changes on both sides of the ball (and special teams). I started attending Gator games in the Spurrier era and have seen the many faces of the Gators over decades. This is a face I have seen before, and there was limited success. But hey, what do I know?? Go Gators!

      100% this, also a UGA fan, they need to just let Napier have some breathing room and trust that he'll get the team more well rounded, if you reset your staff after every bad season, you'll never get anywhere
      they were 5=2 before UGA, not a particularly bad season so far, just some stumbles

    • @fretfix1
      @fretfix1 10 месяцев назад +1

      When I said the Spurrier era, I meant when he was a player. Not a coach. 7 decades and a 3rd generation Gator here.
      Not much of a reader, huh? "Billy definitely has a chance and should be given some time?" Direct quote from my reply. Nothing about getting rid of Billy now. I have never even visited another teams podcasters to comment, so I have to chuckle when Bulldogs, etc. show up here. You have to have something better to do? Attaboys from rival fans are the last thing we need. We owned you for 2 decades after you owned us for 2 decades prior. Big wheel keep on turning...

      It’s not staff CHANGES that need to be made, but staff DECISIONS do need to change. The youth of this team has Jack squat to do with the horrific situational offensive play calling I’ve seen out of this guy. He needs to admit to himself that OC is just not his calling. Get an OC and this team will fly with Billy’s recruiting and CEO mentality. He’s a great guy, but not an OC. GoGators.

    I agree completely. I think Napier is smart enough to make the adjustments that are needed, like possibly giving up play calling. I think he is also _willing_ to make those changes which we could not say of the last three guys.
    He prides himself in his attention to detail and studying analyitcs and he will see all of the issues with the team. Hopefully that will lead to changes in the off season. As long as he does that, he is the right coach.
    The culture around the program seems to be good. The NIL stuff seems to be doing well. And the recruiting is amazing.
    So, like you said, I think we just need to give him time to make some tweaks and changes and the Gators will be just fine in the years to come. The rest of this season might be painful. But I really do think, as long as he is willing to change and make the right changes, the Gators are on the rise.
    I think Kirby knows they better enjoy this run they're on because it won't last forever. I think he can see what Billy is doing and recognizes it as a threat, given enough time.
    Patience, Gators.

    Billy Napier, also was under Nick Saban at Alabama for a couple of seasons, and gets what it takes. It will take time, patience is the biggest thing here. The fact that Napier even mentions the importance of recruiting in that clip, shows that he gets it and knows the importance of it. That was something Dan Mullen didn't address when he was here.

      Kirby inherited a well recruited, balanced team with two NFL rookie starters (Michelle and Chubb) who both stayed for their senior year. I probably could have coached that 2016 team into the playoffs. It's an apples to orangutan argument. Mullen left the cupboard pretty bare with a poorly balanced team. Look where all of the transfers landed after they left UF. Our two deep is about half fresh, redshirt fresh and soph (I think we had three seniors on the depth chart for almost every game). Youngest team in P5. I'm not making excuses, but I'd be surprised if UF isn't able to make a 12 team playoff by '25.

    Credit to Kirby for what he's done, but he took a good program and turned them elite while Napier took over a program in shambles. We'll see if Napier turns it around.

    Georgia fan here. The problem is not the coaching. It's the depth chart. Georgia is loaded at every position but it took great recruiting classes to get this way. You Gator fans just be patient. I promise you better days are ahead. I like Billy because he's trying to do it the right way. He has a great attention to detail. It's hard to do what he's trying to do when the previous coach didn't like to recruit. Good luck the rest of the year.

    It definitely seems like he's a better CEO than Dan Mullen but we will see considering we are still yet to have an offensive coordinator..... as far as recruiting goes it's a wash to this point until this current recruiting class get signed, however from an X's and O's standpoint Dan Mullen was a by far superior coach his ability to scheme up the offense and call plays was way better. I'm not sure I can call Billy Napier a better CEO than Dan Mullen if he's not willing to turn over play calling duties to someone that's more qualified🤷‍♂️ I'm in the same mood I was when we fired Dan and hired this guy I'm in wait and see mode in a couple years we will know how well this guy's building the roster he has to have time he said it in his initial press conference we have to give that time so he can succeed potentially

For more than a few guys and Fla has and always will have the talent had mullen not screwed up and put his time into recruiting it would have went a littk😢diff for him ... Not that i ever eant Ga. To lose lol but it woll happen eventually.. We need Fla to alway have a competitive game its good for the east and good for the SEC period. Born and raised in Ga. But as a very young kid i lived in Jacksonville my dads family and step dads family from Fla but step dad was a hurricane we want talk about that though.. but half of the Family was Gator the other half FSU thats my no 2 team lol But hey iv four myself rooting for the gators before any time there up against a big 10 big 12 pac 12 whatever im a SEC guy just A Dawg first! Well of course he complimented him. He knows that if Billy stays then Ga will coneinue to win. Kirby also said that he knew what Billy would do because Billy relys heavily on analytics. Guess what other teams do to. Billy mentioned that this is Kirbys 8th year. Yes thats true but you saw continuous improvement. Billy says that "we are molding and shaping young men". Billy , you are a football coach not a kife coach. Before every game Billy gies on and on and on about how good the team they about to play is. How about pumping up your own team. It feels almost like he is making an excuse about a loss before it happens. I cant stand it. Billy is a nice guy. Maybe too nice. Im sure all the players get those participation trophies. If he would swallow his pride and hire an offensive coordinator, a special teams coach and whatever else he is trying to run then maybe we will have a chance but if he continues doing this we will be the laughing stock of the SEC and become the next Vandy. Oh yeah I almost forgot they beat us last year. I love the Gators. Im gator alumni and Im frustrated. Something needs to change.

    Next years team will also be young and will need time in the weight room and on the field before they click. Set your sights on 2025 because the playoffs teams will be in the top 12 and we will be there. You can either be patient or whine at the wind because I doubt the AD will want to do the coaching version of musical chairs and lets be honest ... changing coaches every few years doesn't seem to work for us very well.

    People need to stop and realize kirby also came into a great situation, UGA was winning 8-10 a season and had great players, Napier came into a completely different situation. We fired mullen for lack of good players coming to Florida, guys who are slow and scared of contact for the most part. Kirbys rebuild of Georgia had a lot less steps then Napiers rebuild at Florida will be.

    I've been saying this all along, plus Kirby inherited a talented team and build his team around Defense. Coach Smart didn't take the Bulldogs to the playoffs until his fifth season and then won back to back Championships in his 6th and 7th season. I'm not saying Coach Napier is the answer, but fans need to keep in mind that he didn't inherit a talented team like some coaches have like Coach Meyer and Coach Smart.

  • @SammyBammy813

    In addition to the fact that Kirby inherited a more talented UGA - Kirby built his program during our McElwain and Mullen era, before Tennessee and Heupel hit their strides...and Darth Mizzou? CBN is building this program in a brutal SEC East division where the schedule provides no forgiveness/opportunities to show progress through a few talented players. Add Florida Atheltics increasing their strength of schedule and now encountering those tougher non-conference games.
    CBN's leadership and taking the blame, and supporting his players, will continue to have the positive, team comradarie that wins championships.
    Our impact players are either CBN recruits or transfers, and there aren't enough threats on the field to force mismatches in our favor.
