I know this is a few years late of a reply, but at the time of recording and touring for X and Y, Coldplay was at a very bad place physically and mentally. They've avoided a lot of that album for 2 main reasons. 1. Because of the mental state the members were in, they really don't feel like the music they made was very good. According to Chris in 2021, they like this song, but don't play it because it's from "a period of which we don't speak." 2. I'd imagine they're avoiding these songs for other reasons than just thinking they're "not very good." Revisiting the music might be a reminder of a much worse time. As a songwriter, I know this all too well. It's a very tricky situation to navigate, and I think Coldplay managed it by creating music they liked a lot more, and played that instead. It is a shame because I love this song, but if they ever do perform this again, this songs absence would make the performance all the more special :)
I answer my own question and somebody else's This was recorded 22.05.2005. for the programme now extinct CD:Uk at their studios in London Chris looks a bit sad to me ,maybe due to his estrangement.with Paltrow
Fucking love this song but is it me or am i hearing 2 guitars through the whole song? Even the acoustic in the end is double-tracked as you would on a record...

Chris is in a happier place, this song is very very deep. Not saying that's why, but it could be a part of it.
