    In the UK and Europe the access to the Canbus underneath the headlights via the front fender has been a problem. Toyota are now fitting Canbus metal covers to prevent access. Had mine done on my rav4 phev prime back in November.

    One more - ask your dealer to disable the smart key system (hook up tool to OBD port and set it). This way the car is not actively seeking signal sent from the key. You have to open the door old fashioned way by pressing the unlock button on the key fob!

    you need to teach people how to disable the fob (Hold LOCK, press Unlock 2x). I think only Toyota have that feature on the fob. I try no other brand have that feature.
    The steering lock I use it between the button so even they cut the top they also need to cut the bottom even they cut both of them, it's har dfor them to use the steering after.
    I wonder if Toyota fix the Headlight CAN injection attack.

    Interesting that disabling the “always on” key FOB proximity didn’t make your list. Doing so does save the battery but you lose the convenience. It does prevent someone from hacking into your FOB and may make the most sense at home.

    A small plumbing hacksaw can cut through the steering wheel in 30 seconds with no noise. Look up on RUclips on how they’re stealing RAV4’s through the driver side front fender wheel well. It’s shocking to say the least.

      Great question! No dealership or even Toyota Canada is willing to answer this question. This needs to be addressed. Hope the federal government will require them to fix these issues. Canbus hacks are fast and easy way for crooks to steal RAV4s. They allow the electronic control module that operate the headlights to give a command to the ECM that starts the car.

    Manufacturers need to do a better job! Need a way to disable keyless entry and push button start. Go back to normal keys with the micro chip. Also the data port they use to program a new key needs better security software. Like a minimum time window of 4 hours to copy a new key. Just my opinion.

  • @alsheremeta

    Why don't you talk about what Toyota could do to help prevent car theft?? Why aren't these immobilizers standard in new vehicles?
    Auto manufacturers don't care about auto theft, as long as they don't stand out from other manufacturers. Your vehicle gets stolen, shipped to Africa, insurance pays for another vehicle and the manufacturer has another sale....
    BTW, consensus is that it takes less than 30 seconds to cut through a steering wheel with a hacksaw, less with a cordless angle grinder.

    • @everydayfun9531
      @everydayfun9531 5 месяцев назад

      The reason why they don't care about auto theft is cause they want their Cars to get sold off the Lot the dealership itself and that's one way they make alot of money and I believe the Dealers and the thieves themselves are in on this both parties are liable!
