One year ago I was sick, in need of a heart surgery to correct a congenital murmur that was becoming problematic. Out of nowhere in my RUclips recommended list was the video where you were talking about what to look for when you wanted an RV (in old Ginger). I spent a week watching your entire backlog of videos and have religiously watched since then. I haven't become an Insider (yet) but will soon.
A year later, I've had surgery, my heart is stronger than it was in my 20s and I recently bought my first RV-- a Coachman Catalina 293RLDS-- and am leaving my home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama headed to Cody, Wyoming on May 18 to take a professional job using my Master's degree, albeit temporary for the summer.
None of that would have happened without Keep Your Daydream.

Hey you guys, we finally brought our new baby home! We ended up buying a 2015 Starcraft AutumnRidge brand new! Yes..a 2015 brand new. The previous owner had it stored since 2015 in his airplane hanger ( long story short ) it was winterized every winter but only used it once...so technically speaking its not brand new ..but to us it is! We are so excited we have not slept since we brought it home! We are just ole senior citizens and are behaving like 2 little whipper snappers ! We only have one problem we have no clue what to name her or mmmm him. All that is left to do after that is to become an insider !! Thank you for doing all that you do for all of us and thanks to you we are keeping our daydreams!!

I agree with the extended warranty. Due to a water heater leak, which we did not know about, the water followed gravity and seeped underneath our kitchen floor. Extended warranty covered the water heater. Collison on our Auto covered the full floor replacement which was $17K. Both less $250 deductible. Trip interruption would not cover the park model stay for a month, while we were homeless. So we are out of pocket a little over $4K, but at least it was not $25K. Love your channel and your family makes me smile! You are my Picker Upper!

How cool! My pic made the video!! SAWEET! Just ordered new T for this summer! I had a very similar experience the first time I ever hauled the Airstream from San Antonio to Houston! I got a late start, so I had to drive at night in Houston's rush-hour traffic! Talk about being white as a ghost! Then, I missed the turn into the RV park, which was right off the exit. The turn was so sharp, the electric cord got caught on the Hensley and pulled it right out of the truck. I had no idea that it happened as I drove down an unlit street looking for a place to turn around. My guardian angel was working overtime that night! Lesson learned: never arrive at destination after dark. Looking forward to season 7!

To help with the trailer cord management, have a welding shop tack a ring to the top of the orange section of the Hensley. It would work much like the pole and rings you see on the back of semi’s holding the air, electric and hydraulic lines.

FYI, I live only about four miles from Del Sol. Plan to head out to St Louis for my 50th class reunion. Did many upgrades on our 2018 Keystone Outback 266RB, Goodyear Endurance tires, MORryde CRE3000 suspension upgrade with wet bolts. Second year out, the first was uneventful, but this year these upgrades are a must. Travel Trailer is being prep as we speak, Start all the cleaning inside this week. Do all the outside next week and then on the road Jun 2nd. Thanks for your update on your TT. I downgrade from a class C to this TT. Best choice I made. I got 2018 RAM 2500 with 6.4 Hemi, gas, with 8 foot bed. So I will never max out my trailer. Like you, I always stop at CAT on my way out of town, just for a matter of record and to give us a peace of mind. Happy trails...…….

23:26 Perfect solution to the dangling cord. That's what I do as well. Also, you might want to put some sealant of some sort around the screw you installed - that will ensure water doesn't leak in around the screw head.

Your solution for the trailer lights (23:30) was exactly what I did. I don't have a PP hitch, but it's worked so far and keeps the cord centered. You were going to put a pin in the coupler anyway, so have it do double duty.

This is obviously an old video since you have Ginger in it. Love to see that I am not the only one that upgrades and goes the extra mile for the safety of everyone. I often get a response of, "Seems like you are always working on your 5th wheel." When you drag your house down the road at nearly 70 mph. Things happen. Our camper was built with the wrong axles. The manufacturer admitted after the warranty was up on the axles. I bought new and bigger and had installed after being overweight, taking the camber out of the axles and destroying a set of tires on a 5000 mile trip. I just installed the Titan disc brakes on the unit as I felt like the electric brakes were inadequate. Safety for everyone. Much better stopping response. Love the videos and hope to meet you on the road somewhere.

back in the day when i was at college doing motor vehicle engineering, we used 'barrier cream'. it's like thicker dryer moisturizer but it gets in your pores and makes a 'barrier' between you and oil (and dirt). then you use a gritty like soap to get it off. basically you dont get contaminants absorbed and its easier to clean your paws. if you dont have special soap, then use soap and sugar granules.

Trailer connection fix... Bungee cord on the trailer hook up cord. Either from the tailgate, which would help it stay plugged in, or, from the front of the trailer somehow.

    • @daveweber1331
      @daveweber1331 5 лет назад

Yes! Off the tailgate could get hard on the paint, but off of the trailer jack somewhere, excellent idea. I'm afraid that guiding it through the lynch pin might cause it to chafe until it rubs through to the bare wires, eventually, there at the pin, and ahead on the hitch. If you raise it up, so that it touches nothing, and secure it with a bungee, it can swing with the cornering maneuvers that inevitably come from parking such a long rig. :-)
This comes from a guy that running pintle hook trailers for years.

Happy you made it back from new zealand ok , Love the Trish & the window problems her face says it all , its the joys of plastic flimsy windows made in most euro campers . I had one & I found 24ft was the max to find easy parking in towns any longer & its big problems, glass double glazing has not caught on in europe yet, its the old weight problems. Its taken me near three weeks to do catch-up since finding you, the strong feeling is you will have a 350 0r 450 truck & a 5th wheeler sooner or later , whilst ball towing is ok 5th wheel stability is on another level , then you get the washer dryer & the gennie ect and it all makes life easier, but just more to go wrong Lol . Whilst im not there yet my goals have been greatly helped watching all your problems. Whilst your kids might not realise it yet but the good educational grounding your giving them is way beyond anything in normal life and will open doors to their minds in future years to come . So i can say mum & dad keep up the good work in my eyes your doing ok.

RV'ing is certainly a passion. If you aren't willing to do some maintenance/repair it may become a little overwhelming. Thank you for showing folks what it takes sometimes to keep these memory makers on the road! Cheers!

The maintenance is fun too, but only if it's kept up with. Getting behind can be overwhelming.

Why don't you try running a spring on the trailer cable so it stays a way from the hitch. Like on a 5th wheel were the cable is floating. Great videos can't wait to see this season 7 Safe travels.

I became exhausted just watching this episode. Wowsers. Thanks! BTW..the price on installing the drain valve was indeed obscene. I hope you experinces under the extended warranty go much better.

For the trailer plug cable, I use medium sized Caribeaners to take up slack but still let the cable pull through if it is insistent.

About your wiring problem this exactly what I wanted to suggest you. I was kind of surprise to see you didn't had any locking clip on the trailer tongue lever. Well should should be good like that, I have a Propride P3 hitch and this is how I route my wiring.

After damaging my trailer power cord having gotten it pitched in the hitch one day, I devised a simple fix for the problem thats been working for three years now. I used a bungee tied to just under the jack controls on the trailer to about the center of the power cord with both ends held in place with cable ties. This keeps the cord elevated above the hitch while allowing it to still move freely. This was originally going to be a temporary fix but if it works, why mess with it? As always, love your videos as they make us feel part of family.

In Lowes. 55lb round neodymium magnet in hardware. $4 Has a keyring on it. I use that to hold the cord and my chains.

Thank you for sharing and glad to see you guys back on the road. I had the same problem with the valve leaking. I just got an extra valve that would twist on the outlet and it required no tools required.

With this video we can officially say "WELCOME HOME" . The travel portions are GREAT, but I really enjoy you explaining the ups and downs, if you will about your RV. If your coming through Illinois (south of Chicago) We would be interested in a meet-up, if you have one. As always take care and be safe.

I've been in business long enough to know how hard it is to provide consistency throughout an organization. No throwing stones here. We'd rather call out good service like Orange Wood or the guy at Ford that helped me with the part. That guy called 3 times to give me an update on the loom. It wasn't in stock, which is why I needed to drill a set screw to secure it.

Pasted from the reply above :) One is planned in Orlando, but we had to move meet-ups to KYD Insiders only. The public meet-ups became too much to coordinate and find a venue. Some people would leave without even being able to say hi so we had to make the smaller.
