@@randomvideosbymark8095 I see a couple three here on RUclips today, not counting this documentary thing. They sound awesome. I want to hear more. Great find there, Jack!
Johnaye is my teacher from college. She is one of the most kind and inspiring people I’ve ever met. She was always so incredible technically at what she could do, amazing explaining how I could be better, and supportive pushing me to the best I could be. Seeing one of my teachers do something so amazing was so incredibly inspiring. She’s an amazing person and deserves the world.
This is an unbelievable short doc, Jack. Huge shout out to the team that made it. And thank you for choosing to elevate other creators' voices in this way. I can't wait to see what's next for säje.
I'm so proud of Johnaye. She's my music theory teacher at Cornish.... And she has the beautiful voice and soul, and an incredible person. This definitely made me cry. I hope they all find the success they deserve, because they are all already such incredible artists.
Säje is the GOAT! I've seen them live twice. Each of them is a titan on their own, and together, even better. Glad that you guys are getting their name out there even more.
Why am I crying 😭 I’m so proud of them and so happy to be watching them blossom and share them with the world. Even though they have no clue who I am, they are such a huge part of my life and heart and I’m just so happy to share them and support them. ❤️
Tears are steaming down my 77 yr old face. SäGE popped into my YT feed unexpectedly as well because the FOUR FRESHMAN, TAKE SIX & JACOB COLLIER changes my love of dense, close, clashing harmony forever. Brilliant piece, outstanding cinematography - - so thankful, in my final time. Very much appreciated POMPAMOOSE - - BTW, thanks also to AL GARHYTHM.
It also helps that they’re the most incredible singers and arrangers around right now, it’s remarkable but it makes all the sense in the world. Love saje and this video!
Thanks Jack for a great film and for highlighting other talented musicians. The girls (säje) are indeed superb singers and have a distinctive sound which will appeal to many people. I did discover säje previously via Erin Bentlage via Pomplamoose. I'm always looking up musicians and it's a journey which can very time-consuming. Unfortunately, there's so much music out there and not enough time to listen to it all so one has to be selective.
Like… why did i start crying when they wrote desert song around a pool like that? Like… where does it come from, man? Where do those sparks of absolute creative blessing drop down from? What heaven do they occupy before gracing all of us with their worldly existence. Just … unreal. I love this group.
I LOVE that you made a documentary about SÄJE! I’ve been listening to them since they posted Desert Song on RUclips, and I really, really hope that this video helps to get their music out there. They’re all such beautiful singers and excellent musicians.
Thank you for promoting amazing artists like Säje. They are so talented, the music is beautiful and I'm so glad they / JC just won the grammy for "in the wee small hours!"
So glad you featured säje. Amanda Taylor deserves so much more recognition. I heard her "Strasbourg-St. Denis" arrangement and was blown away. The whole group is _way_ talented.
To me it it's really seldom that I listen to a song for the first time and I'm just stunned by its beauty & uniqueness. I ordered the CD the same evening!
I had heard and seen Erin via this channel. Especially your version of ‘Latch’. She was awesome in that. One of my favourite Pomplamoose covers. I have seen the video countless times. So, I looked at Erin’s other work, found Saje and gave them a listen. I watched the video of their reaction to the Grammy nomination, last year some time. And started following their work.. This is how you find great singers. I found Pomplamoose when you guys collaborated with dodie a couple of years ago. I was a fan of her’s for a while before that…. You tap a vein of talent and you find out who they respect and choose to work with. Erin is a brilliant singer and Saje are awesome. I look forward to them winning a lot of Grammys. And I will definitely buy there music, as I do with Pomplamoose
Can't say enough good things about this group ... inspirational beyond words!!! Thank you for helping spread the good word about the wonder that is säje!
I recently saw the Wailin' Jennys in concert and these ladies have that same sort of vibe in a different style. I hope they have huge success and good for you, Jack, for promoting them like this.
I am so glad I found this video, I was looking them up on RUclips after they’ve just won a Grammy for the song they made with Jacob, and you’ve made an incredible job at presenting them, their passion and their talent !
Go see the Grammy win "In the wee small hours." It seems right that pathfinder Jacob is there, but hangs back as they shine. I see this as a pivotal moment in music making, when the true creative voices take back access control, from princes and execs.
Musicians have spent decades pursuing public recognition for their original songs, including acts signed to major labels. I'm amazed and delighted to know an FYI group managed to do this... to the pinnacle of a Grammy nomination. Thank you this RUclips post. Millions of people will remain overlooked, but some will persevere.
Awards given by an industry to members of that industry have an agenda, which is usually how to get as much cash from the punters as possible whilst the industry turns a blind eye to wrong doing in that industry, whilst promoting a particular ideology. Did you see the Oscars last week.....a man assaults another man whilst being watched by millions globally but still gets the 'top' prize from an industry that votes on itself....
I love this song. I loved Groove For Thought…so thrilled that Amanda is still arranging and singing. She’s so incredibly creative and knowledgeable…and choral genius.
So generous of you to use your platform to share this group with the world! Personally I only found out about them two or three months ago, maybe even through 'Professional Musicians React'?
OMG! I so hope they make it pass this opportunity. Hearing those harmonies was less like less like listening, it was feeling brain waves that had always been there, just hidden from consciousness by life.
Thank you Jack for caring for more than just yourself, or your bands, or.your company, but caring for people, four women busting their asses to make something beautiful, and for caring about artists and art the world over and for generations to come. Your work will reverberate farther and longer than all of us.
Everytime I see this I get crushed by the weight that the millrnials grew up with and learned this art stuff so well that there's just no room for me. I will be an abandoned artist through no fault of my own, but merely because I didn't have enough time to gestate and grow organically.
I grew up with harmonies of the Beach Boys. I love these girls. They remind me of enveloping myself with the same harmonising when I was little. It's a mindset. Awesome.
Ooooo editor is super handsome, no wonder the editing was done so well. I'm am deeply grateful for him but also for you and your amazing wife and all the people that work so hard to bring us these gems and jewels. I love and appreciate every ounce of hard work. My next wish and hope is that these loverly ladies continue to thrive and grow and help the world be as loverly as they are.
Yes yes yes! Support these absolutely incredible four women! They're among the best I've Heard in my life. Next to Maria Joao, your Version of "Harder faster..." , Hiromi Uehara, Bobby McFerrin, oh well, and some other mindblowing music. We get to know more than we can deal with these days.
Such a great band. Since the album is out, I was wondering, how it was made. And now I find this 1 year old video and am shocked and amazed, that those ladies did the album in a home studio on their own. I hope, I might ever be able to see them live in germany. As long as their are touring the US, I will attend to a Michael Mayo concert in december in Hamburg! 🙂
I wish these women the best of everything, but the bit at 12:20 just further convinces me that my personal decision to never, ever use Spotify again was the right move. Spotify needs to die.
i meeeeean, true but also spotify AND major labels that refuse to provide accurate statements/lock artists into unrealistic contracts that will never possibly recoup need to die...
Yep. Fellow boycotter here. Streaming music can be done honestly and fairly, but that's not Spotify's model. RUclips has its problems as well; best to spend actual money on the music. "Inexpensive, not free" is a way better business model.
"We're learning you don't need a record label to nominated for a Grammy." Cory Wong and Jon Batiste were nominated for their collaborative album "Meditations" and they produced and released the album without a major label. In fact, Cory Wong releases a lot of his music that way.
you don't need a label, but you need a member to enter you for a nomination, so still out of reach for most of us, but good for them, I hope they make it
2 года назад
it's not as out of reach as you might think!! all professional musicians/industry folks can apply (+ then obtain membership/have the ability to submit for consideration/vote!)
This is cool. I gotta say, this did make me immediately go and do a search for them. They do seem pretty amazing. BTW, were they using singing bowls to tune their voices?
Industry awards don't interest me, they're fundamentally narcissistic and industries promote a narrative to their favour which is often deceptive. I mean, look what just occurred at the Oscars. Artists should only measure their success from the attention they receive from people who buy their products, go to their concerts, enjoy their products over years and years. Corporations just want our money...
Not surprisingly, the vast majority of the world of entertainment awards presented in the United States are currently awarded only for the ethnicity (non-whiteness) showed and not for the real artistic talent.🤟🏻💕this is not debatable, it is a fact
no? just look at "who is the current GOD OF MUSIC now.....EL CONEJO MALO (bad bunny)...is a perfect example of what art means today for the music industry
This is a group worth celebrating. ❤️ I honestly cannot WAIT to hear their first record!!!
Do they have a RUclips link?
we love you, Pomplamooooooooose!
@ I just subscribed 👍🤩

OMG! I found them a few months ago and ADORE THEM! I know Amanda from Sing Off Season 2 she's incredible huge huge fan!
Aaaaahhhh! I didn’t realize who she was! From Groove for Thought!!! They were awesome! So glad to see where she is now! 💕

I did not expect Jacob showing up 😄 What a great group, can‘t wait to hear what‘s coming out of this…
A Grammy, it seems :D
Säje is the GOAT! I've seen them live twice. Each of them is a titan on their own, and together, even better. Glad that you guys are getting their name out there even more.
I knew Erin looked familiar - she does backing vocals on Moonchild’s Tiny Desk Concert, which is one of my faves
Thanks!! ♡♡♡
I like her single Whistle

Thank you for promoting amazing artists like Säje. They are so talented, the music is beautiful and I'm so glad they / JC just won the grammy for "in the wee small hours!"
This just reminds me that Pentatonix's grammy for Daft Punk was similarly homegrown.
Saw them two nights ago in Berkeley at Freight and Salvage. They were fantastic. Goosebumps indeed.
So glad you featured säje. Amanda Taylor deserves so much more recognition. I heard her "Strasbourg-St. Denis" arrangement and was blown away. The whole group is _way_ talented.
This is dope! I always love telling people where Patreon comes from and what it's all about, keep it up!
I found säje via Jacob Collier. And now they are not just nominees anymore, but proud winners of their first Grammy. So you were right. :)
The music industry is blessed to have you advocating on its behalf Jack.
To me it it's really seldom that I listen to a song for the first time and I'm just stunned by its beauty & uniqueness. I ordered the CD the same evening!

This is quite inspirational. Gonna get back to the tracks now. Thanks for posting this, Jack.
I received the same reaction (chills) love the energy and sound. cant wait to see their future BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT
I am so glad I found this video, I was looking them up on RUclips after they’ve just won a Grammy for the song they made with Jacob, and you’ve made an incredible job at presenting them, their passion and their talent !
Great for them! I discovered them about a year ago and seeing this for the first time is inspiring.
A Grammy is a pretty beautiful encouragement to continue.
Even a Grammy nomination

A Grammy nomination is a badge of honor for some, a shoo-in for others. To the entitled, nothing is ever enough.
How exquisitely wonderful to see two of my absolute favorite groups have a meeting of the minds. All feels right with the universe.
I went to listen to Desert Song and a bunch of their other covers and just. Wow. I'm hooked
I love this song. I loved Groove For Thought…so thrilled that Amanda is still arranging and singing. She’s so incredibly creative and knowledgeable…and choral genius.
Incredible! What a wonderful thing to do. Just joined the patreon!
Incredibly exciting - wonderful women who deserve every opportunity to succeed.

We will be privileged to get to see them in person this evening in Creston, Ia - can’t wait. I’m glad I saw this video, thank you !
This four persons are really lovely!
May they be as successful, as it makes them happy and rich and happy. 🌈❤
Such a great band. Since the album is out, I was wondering, how it was made. Well, I'm in love with Desert Song now. Thanks for calling säje to our attention!
WOWWWW! 🥲 Thank you so much for sharing this story. Their desert song is some Liz Gilbert ‘Big Magic’ shit 🤩🤯🤩 and I love it 💛
The song has an "indie film" soundtrack vibe to it. (Which, I think, is a huge compliment)
Hope for all outside the major label crowd
I wish these women the best of everything, but the bit at 12:20 just further convinces me that my personal decision to never, ever use Spotify again was the right move. Spotify needs to die.

That was amazing, thank you for this.
My son got to sing with saje last spring at a jazz event in Iowa. Their vocals are amazing and they are all so nice and approachable.
Thank you for sharing their story.
And this is why I love this channel, amongst other things, but you get the picture...

So well done on promoting Saje :)
i love guessing which pomplamoose cover is being used as background music
Thank you so much !
This is greatness. Thank you.
Oh wow, some of them are from Groove for Thought! No wonder they looked so familiar!
Wow. Jacob Collier guest Vocals; Ben Williams on Bass. When's the album released?
hopefully feb 2023!
Will be listening to their music!
You’re all amazing! 🥰👍🏻
I don't know how to do that.... but I'll do it anyway........ Words to live by!!

@ how did you get in?
Congrats.
One of the girls, I remember, was in another great jazz group. I forgot their name though.
Thank you sharing this with us...n
Loved Sara G's music for ages but no idea what she looked like so didn't even recognise her
Congratulations!
Where are they now?
Exciting stuff wow
Yeah säje!!!
Wait, is Säje pronounced “sage”, or pronounced “Sah-jay”…?
Coz the letter “ä” is pronounced as “ah”, and not “ey”.
Loverly!
Dope group. Dope vid. Dope
If they could sing in tune... that would be GREAT!
Sorry, it seems they can! I'm really sorry... well
säje ROCKS!
I LOVE SAJEEEEEEE
Wonderful❤❤❤
This is so typical! You just lo pro wanna focus on your music and Jacob C. comes walking in to talk about harmony... Tsss....
This is cool. I gotta say, this did make me immediately go and do a search for them. They do seem pretty amazing.
BTW, were they using singing bowls to tune their voices?
smiling
