    My older Bissell...died...I have had many people try to give me other brand vacuums...which no declined the offer. I love Bissell and this is the model I now want. Great review thanks very MUCH.

      Thanks Laurie. Yes, these low-cost but rugged Bissell models are really very useful. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment.

    I bought this vacuum for use in a theater setting after the $400 vacuum is a total and complete pos. Everybody loves using this so much more than the Riccar, gets used practically everyday for the passed 6-7 months now. I was worried about the durability because of this, but it has seriously held up well. Just make sure you take care of it. Looking into another 2-3, absolutely LOVE Bissell!

    Plan to purchase two of these tomorrow at Walmart for $66.00 each. I think there is an additional filter towards the base of the machine but will check for sure when I make this purchase. Thank you for posting this informative video.

      Yes, there is an additional filter below the canister for the air intake. It's removed by pulling forward on the filter retainer tray. You'll find it under the Bissell logo.

    Thank you so much for this great review! I have a Bissell Pet Rewinder model 2259 & the belt somehow melted onto the roller so now I need a new roller but can’t find the correct one. I was going to purchase a Dyson but this review convinced me to save hundreds & buy your Bissell model, which is even cheaper than my Bissell & it appears that it has the same attachments. Thanks again!

    Thanks - Very useful info. I have a 12amp old one that has lasted a LONG time. I have even improvised on the filter parts, since I sew, and make my own rather than buy them for an obnoxious price. Well I just bought this lighter weight one because I use mine more often in the summer, with my dog shedding more, etc. LOVE to be able to get to every part & cleaning it out after each full house vacuum. Now I know how to take it all apart and clean it, and thanks for the filing tip, so no lint & hairs stick inside. APPRECIATE YOU - Keep up the good work - Ushta-te!!

    I just got this vac, haven’t even unboxed it yet. It’s replacing Bissell 16N59 with a HEPA filter. This thing worked fine but was so heavy. Also I got it clogged up somewhere that I could not get out even after taking it basically apart-the hose wand, the foot hose area.. Some dirtball was hiding and I coujdn’t find it! So I’m hoping this 1797 will be much better! I am going to do the onion/orange bag trick where you put a piece of mesh net bag over the suction areas with a rubberband to prevent bigger clogging items from getting in. I wish vacuum manufacturers would make them easier to disassemble to remove clogs😐 But what you said about HEPA vacs makes total sense! Thanks for all the tips!

    My house has like advanced dust. The only thing I don't like about the vacuum is there's no good seal for the hose that goes into the container. Also great video!

    I bought the 1797 at Walmart for $66 It is much easier to clean than my big heavy Bissell 12 amp that I had for 9 years and just trashed after the motor brushes wore down and started to heat the motor up. I also have a Eureka vintage vac from 1982 (full metal hood) Which I really appreciate since it requires zero cleaning (just replace bag). The old vacs suck from the center which gives them more powerful suction. The Eureka is 6.5 amps and the Bissell 1797 is 8amp but the Eureka is more powerful. If you can spend 600 to 800 dollars for a vac don't buy Dyson try to get one of the Royal all metal vacs (center suction). You sacrifice the wand but you could have another vac to do that like the 1797 for example.

      What did you use on your carpet to clean

    • @SNLGUY
      @SNLGUY 5 лет назад +1

      @@reneejackson7018 I don't use anything. I suppose if I had pets I would use arm & hammer carpet cleaner (powder). For spots I first try Tuff Stuff spray (Walmart) it has a nice subtle lemon scent. If it's a stubborn stain I use Woolite carpet cleaner or maybe Turtle Wax foam cleaner

    We bought one at Walmart. I didn't think the unit was as good as it really is. We are really pleased with our Bissell. Your video has good information and cleaning information. It would be better if you had air conditioning running.

      I'm trying to figure out how to put the height adjust wheel carriage back together after disassembleing for cleaning? Can you help

    • @resourcesforlife
      @resourcesforlife  5 лет назад

      @@scottlies5774 - I'm not sure about that. I'd need to see a schematic. Maybe there's an assembly guide online.

  • @scottlies5774
    @scottlies5774 5 лет назад +2

    Vacuum height wheel carriage operates only when handle is in back position... So when reinstalling wheel carriage after cleaning handle should be in back or down position...

    I have dogs, do this vacuum can help for dog's hair?

    • @resourcesforlife
      @resourcesforlife  5 лет назад +1

      As I've looked at the pet versions of vacuums it seems like they offer a tool for cleaning furniture and stairs, but so do non-pet vacuums. They all seem very similar. I'd think this one would work on pet hair.

    The cord will not rewind all the way after a few uses.

    • @resourcesforlife
      @resourcesforlife  5 лет назад

      Yeah, I noticed that it just doesn't pull as well and need guiding to feed back in. So, now I carefully let it retract, but it doesn't have the pull it did at first.

    • @Sofia-ib8vv
      @Sofia-ib8vv 4 года назад

      Yeah, it's actually recommended by Bissell to guide the cord so the rewind retractor doesn't wear out.
