The other thing about streaming most aren't aware of. If you don't have unlimited internet, there's no point in doing this. As a gamer you game for hours and hours. If you don't have unlimited internet bundled in your cable bill. You will always over use the data usage. Another thing, nobody should be streaming in Native 4k. One hour of 4k streaming is 15GB of wasted internet. That's why RUclips by default is on 360p. It's helping you, not hurting you.
Make sure you use something like wifi analyzer and select a free channel on your router. You only get lag and glitches when a neighbours wifi is overlapping yours on the same channel. Also have everything else in your home connect using the 2.4ghz and keep the 5ghz band for your firestick only. Setting the frequency to 80mhz will also give you more throughput. The fire stick also has MU-MIMO so turn that on in your router too, it usually only works when you turn 80mhz on first. Basically dial in your wifi connection and you'll have an almost seamless experience

I have had an 85" Samsung TV with this Xbox feature built in . Having the ethernet connected to my TV still does not fix the Input lag . The input lag is caused by BT signal interference between the remote and the device , which can be fixed with placement of electronic devices around the play space.
The biggest thing about input delay on a device like this is wireless network simply isn't stable enough for cloud gaming just yet. With a wired connection I'm sure it runs great, but otherwise I imagine it's very inconsistent.
The input lag. I had that with cloud gaming on console until I realized everything needed to be a wired connection (even the controller helps) which isn’t possible with the Firestick. As reference I played 300+ hours of Starfield on an Xbox one S before upgrading to a series S.
@@Edgeworthianyou can buy a used series s in the UK for the same price as a fire stick, controller and the ethernet adapter. It adds up this streaming stuff.

Thank you for this. As a father, I've been working and wanted to get back to gaming since I don't have any consoles anymore nor a PC and was thinking if this thing was a good idea, but if it'll give me lag issues, then I just want to save me the "ick" stress of it.
@@robertwolfganI use NVIDIA now cloud gaming and it’s fantastic. I run a 350mb internet connection and very average pc problem and lag free.. do a priority day pass and test it out, naturally you would need to spend a few hundred on a pc before hand, check out there minimum specs
I could be totally wrong but I wonder if not plugging the fire stick into a external power supply had something to do with the initial problems, because even if you're just updating the firestick it's recommended to plug it into external power instead of the usb power on the t.v because it will take longer than it should, but I don't know, because it seems like it shouldn't matter but it does.
I think you’re onto something, while you can get these sticks to work with the TVs usb, it’s been my experience over time that they will start shutting themselves off so it’s probably a lower power draw.
@@XboxReady Thing is you might not see an issue under normal load, you would see a difference if you do something that uses more system resources. I've seen devices on amazon that are basically a USB plug and a small battery that are meant for installations where the only power option is the TV port. The stick can draw extra juice from the battery if there's a sudden spike in amperage. And the TV port can just charge the battery all the time.
I assume the controller is connected via Blutooth, not the 2.4GHz proprietary signal? That would explain a lot of the lag. I can see it work as a supplement to your Xbox console, in cases like the one you mentioned in this video. But having people pay $20 a month to get the Ultimate tier to have THIS as their primary experience would be a tough sell. I wouldn't want this to be my introduction into gaming either, as the lag might mess with your head and make you believe that games are simply not for you. I tried the NVidea Shield with GeForce Now a while ago, and even though I hooked it up via ethernet cable, the additional lag introduced by connecting my Controller with Blutooth made gaming unenjoyable for me, once I plugged it in it did improve significantly but still suffered from the odd hitch, so I ended up sending it back. My favorite remote game experience is Playstation Remote. I got my Playstation plugged directly into my router and the router is plugged into my PC then the controller is plugged into my PC as well. It works, I don't have to buy any additional devices and it's not hidden behind any subscription paywalls.
Xbox having hybrid console would be most convenient for me, downloading locally is important for me, if internet crashes or cloud gaming has issues and you're not able to play games, having it locally is a must for me, i think best about cloud gaming is you don't have to download all the games that takes hours and size, you boot the game fast, this is where it is a big W
Problem is, when your net goes down even when a game is downloaded and owned to your account you need a active Internet connection to validate the install. I've been discless for years and the only way around it when my net goes down is to tether my xbox to my phone to validate and then I'm good. Tbh should have a record of your online purchases locally on the console so it can validate it though that and not needing a active connection for games you own, but game pass stuff you need a active connection as if you have a valid expiry imprinted on your account what would stop you changing the date on the console to get around it, so I get validation for gamepass but not your own games
Thank you for this. This is definitely a plus. I have purchased Xbox products since day one with the OG Xbox up to the Xbox One, if not for myself personally or for a family member. I have not dived into the Series X/S pool especially now when I am on the fence considering that Capcom Fighting VS collection isn’t coming to Xbox and most of the new Marvel content that’s coming is going to PlayStation. I was going to have to make a choice as I really am just a casual gamer, not hardcore, and I can’t justify purchasing 2 consoles. Now I may not have to thanks to the partnership with Amazon. I could, theoretically purchase a PS5 and get the Xbox app the game pass and be set. Theoretically if everyone works as it’s supposed to. This is not to say I will definitely go this route but it is a promising option. Thanks again.
The wife interview was a great idea, she plays but not like 8+ hours a day or has been gaming strongly for a while but she is a casual player. It's a great idea that you had separation like that, you have PC master race with the most current specs in a 5-8k PC while the "console peasants" have a good time with what we have and is somwtime more than what we really use it for.
I left console gaming for a few years (had Xbox OG and PS one, then a Wii, then PC only for a while). I got into the trial for XCloud and got to play gamepass on my Samsung phone with an Xbox wireless controller. Being the genius I am, I streamed the whole mess to my Samsung TV. WHAT A KLUDGE!! There was serious input lag from all corners. That said, I had fun. I had a lot of fun. It served as a gateway drug to me getting a Series X. I still play cloud gaming on occasion on my tablet over 5g, with acceptable results.
The inconsistent input lag day to day is the real issue. As a techie who used to work with Fiber Optic Internet, I can verify it was not my connection.
I hadn't used my Fire Stick 4K Max since early June (only for traveling) and I had 4 updates to go through first, then I installed the Xbox app. I think that your initial lag issue may have been the updates. Played Halo 3 for testing and it was flawless.
I hope they include the 4k version of the firestick in the bundle as its a little faster than the lite and regular versions but if you really do have the money get the firecube huge improvement in speed
To have a good cloud gaming experience a good internet connection is required specially a good upload speed for the imput lag to be reduced but in order to achieve that you need a optic fiber internet connection but unfortunately as of now availability for fiber internet is not that great in the US
Aren't you glad you don't have dial-up? Nothing on the cloud will ever compare to local. You are literally sending an input signal to God knows where, waiting for that to process and send feedback.
I mean this is honestly good for families and kids who can’t afford consoles. It’s inclusive. Now kids won’t be made fun of for not playing games that other kids brag or talk about that can now be available to them
Xbox Cloud gaming on the Meta Quest 3 is the best device that they have and will put it on as you can have 250in screen playing any gamepass game and you can also hardwire any controller from PS5, Xbox and more straight to the headset for almost zero latency in the input
Input lag seems like an issue with your internet connection, not anything else. Depending on whether you're connected to 2.4ghz, 5ghz or 6ghz wireless can make a huge difference, and other WiFi traffic on the network can really make a huge difference. Using a wired connection can make a HUGE difference. I've used xbox cloud gaming a lot, on a wide range of devices, and have never had significantly noticeable lag on any device where I've been connected over ethernet, and I am pretty remote and live a pretty long distance away from Microsoft's data centres. I would suggest investing in a ~$15-20 wired adapter if you're going to be playing regularly.
I stream Xbox Cloud Gaming exclusively. Fits into my lifestyle. No games, accessories, consoles, cords. Just games when I want. Like having access to Geforce Now and Luna also. I personally only pay for Gamepass at this point.
the firestick was probly still setting up and updating software it had to be doing something in the background when u first played and was done the next time
As a Project xCloud Founding Member, this brings back memories, some good, and others, well, not so good. It also reminds me of why I haven’t used a Bluetooth controller in ages! To avoid the input lag, I will generally use a USB Razer controller, but I’ve also opted for 2.4GHz prior to that as my workaround. All said, I’m sure a modicum of this has to do with being forced into using a Bluetooth controller, but I’m thinking that the primary reason why the issues were so aggressive on very first use was probably due to some internal firmware upgrade or apps downloading behind the scenes to patch anything that they needed to handle after these kits were boxed to be shipped. Who realistically even knows just how long that particular timeframe was?! It would definitely explain the issues on day one that subsequently corrected themselves aside from some random lag that’s beyond your control. I mean, sure, there could have been a plethora or WLAN/LAN/WAN issues from slower speeds at that specific time to packet loss to WLAN channel interference, and downloads certainly would be worse when in conjunction with any of those issues, but something tells me that it was simply “behind the scenes housekeeping.” BTW, I enjoyed the video! 👍
Sounds like the sync of the controller. Or battery power. Or internet lag. I have the Samsung Xbox and it’s amazing, only complaint is that I have to log out and log in my kids account individually. You can’t have multiple users. It’s the only complaint. Cloud sync seems amazing but I live in the country and finally have fast enough internet.
You can get an ethernet adapter for the fire stick. Supposedly, there's no lag when you install it. But if the price is not the problem, just keep/buy a normal Xbox.
Problem is every time a company send something to a reviewer no matter what it is movie , book or something like this , I can not take the review serious simple as that , cause it was paid for .
Not just that its paid for. Its the fact that when reviewer samples that handpicked to the best of the best so that the review comes out good is the reason why people shouldn't trust "review samples". The same products the people get will be different or lower quality than the ones reviewers get.
I don't know i hate cloud gaming and i tend to keep it that way, i'm a person which would likes to show off his Hardware and i don't plan to even thinking about playing games on cloud or whatever
Pretty sure if you are going to be gaming on the Amazon fire stick/ want the most out of it it’s better if you plug the power into an actual outlet rather than using the usb outlet on your TV to power it. I just bought one for my uncle and set it up for him and that at least what I remember reading about it.
I feel like you starting off with a bad experience with the fire stick but waking up to a new and better experience is due to Xbox monitoring your gameplay as you go.
So, one has to buy a network /lan adapter to connect the fire stick via lan cable to the modem . It has been available for yrs. Just sharing some info.
This is gonna kill the Series S. I think that's the plan. They hired Amazon to be the hit man. Damn, ironically I ordered my carbon black Series S from Amazon.
as an owner of the series s 512gb, I can tell you that it's generally much better to play natively on a console than cloud gaming. although if you wanted to save money and have a good internet connection then maybe it was better to buy the stick.
Hopefully not. Internet problems are still quite prevalent today to solely rely on streaming for gaming (especially competitive PvP games). Home internet can randomly have a month of disconnection issues and 5G internet will be wonky when you really need it 😭
@@gentugo yeah I agree, it's a great concept which has definitely improved over the years, but requires a good internet speed and low latency to get the best results
Xcloud works well on Fire Stick 4k Max. And 6e internet is a game changer, so fast. Cloud gaming is the future. Well help when they release a controller with WIFI built in
With the input lag, that may be from your router switching from a congested wifi channel to a less congested one. There's two ways to help alleviate this 1) use a WiFi analyzer app on your phone to see what wifi channels are the most isolated and set your router to them manually 2) You can get an ethernet adapter for the fire stick which will eliminate the issue of wifi channel congestion and make input lag much more consistent In this situation streaming from the Series S to the fire stick would be a better option as it keeps everything on your home network, though I'm not sure if that's supported
9:52 what freaking inconsistency? you tried it one time, you didn't plug it to an external power source as you were suggested, you probably didn't have it connected through 5ghz network and since then for what you have said here the thing has not failed again so what inconsistency are we talking about here?
Probably will go up to 19.99 and everyone will start buying the stick and playing on windows. Anything but Xbox console it seems. They don't know that thisis gonna hurt console gaming for Microsoft
@BenDalorian75 it's never been about consoles They sell them at a loss anyways it pays more having everyone pay 20$ a month then it dose sell 10mill consoles at a loss Xbox being on every platform is expanding there reach further then there competitors More people playing on there app the better Everyone dogs the series s because is not as powerful but in a time where everything is so expensive and inflation is so high having a cheap budget option for the mass is better for the consumer which is us and this cloud gaming push is something that definitely could be improved but has a solid place in the market and definitely for lower income or more casual gamers and on top of the games pass pc ports there reach is bigger then ever
I have a Switch and PS5 but if Playstation had this option with 4K streaming I would probably not need the console once Switch 2 comes out and runs Rocket League better. I have a Samsung TV monitor so it has gaming hub and I use cloud gaming with Prime free Luna games, GOG games getting added. I've never paid full price for a cloud subscription but will for Indiana Jones for one month, for example. It's convenient for big single player games you dont want to own or play in 4K (GEForce Now can boost). P.S. what a lucky guy, wifey is super cute! (and savvy)
My honest belief is xbox and sony are going to reach a point they become steam rivals as console prices go up and cloud streaming becomes more reactive and affordable
There's multiple points to it, those who aren't heavy gamers that don't want to drop 500 on a console, those who already have a console but don't want to have to move it to different locations that they won't play much at, etc. Even for a small form factor where you know you'll only play game pass, maybe it'll be able to stream games you own at some point
Phone in your front pocket while playing? Less than a foot from your controller? Cell phones *will* increase lag for wireless controllers. Keep them on a side table or arm's length away on the couch - anywhere but near the controller or TV (or between them).
Worked fine when I flew from Kansas to Maine, lay over at the airport for 3 hours, no problem. Played Diablo 4 no problem. Brought my Xbox controller with me
i can use cloud gaming on other services like shadow or gforce now but gamepass has input lag and sometimes the game will freeze for a sec and a glitchy line will go down the screen before continuing like nothing happened
I think plugging it into it’s own power supply would probably help because computers are weird and stuff like that sometimes helps. But also, making sure your tv is set to “Game” mode. I’m guessing for some reason, your tv did not automatically do this the first time, and then when you booted it up the 2nd time, it did for some reason. It could just be typical cloud gaming lag, but on such a large tv, input lag could be due to that type of setting.
Cloud gaming will never work, they literally wanted to limit the internet traffic here by A LOT because internet pollute too much. Plus, let's not forgot that most doesn't have access to the internet at a rate that would make a decent gaming (not everyone are Americans).
Input lag? That's why we don't use wifi for cloud gaming (unless you have an amazing router), it could be that it requires a restart/reboot to reset the connection. A direct connection is always better and more stable.
If it’s anything like Amazon’s Luna, the thing that helped my performance was knocking down resolution a little. I had basically flawless at 720, which was fine. Also, I got the Ethernet adapter for my Fire Stick and that’s SUPER helpful.
So, about your first experience with game pass on Amazon. The first time I used Amazon Luna on my fire tv stick, there was a hell of lag until I updated the software. It sounds like the software updated automatically overnight before you captured the footage gam, aiming streaming services, especially on media players, live and die by their software patches.
Honestly I think the Fire Stick route was more directed towards Amazon users than pre-existing Xbox members. I still love the ease of use tho- looks great for traveling
i would say fire stick with xbox game pass can be used for travel provided that the hotel/place have good wifi..that would be one use case...but other than that it wont replace xbox series x or xbox series s...
Had the same issues with controller input lag on my phone while cload streaming through gamepass before I bought a series x, but I adapted to it so well that I was streaming battlefield and was actually decent player but on the series x I'm now dominating ez
Some of the lag could be the TV performance vs something higher performance typically connected to an xbox. Also, wi-fi vs ethernet can yield inconsistent performance. I've tried the cloud gaming and it can be good but still not quite ready for primetime other than very casual play imho.

RIP Me: Died of capped wifi data & Too poor to upgrade.
Wire it. My fire cube can be wired. The fire cube runs streaming games on wifi via Luna better than my series X does wired directly to my nighthawk... Amazon has the streaming services down Microsoft needs to step it up especially considering I live not far from where all the magic happens for Microsoft ....
Good info
Make sure you use something like wifi analyzer and select a free channel on your router. You only get lag and glitches when a neighbours wifi is overlapping yours on the same channel. Also have everything else in your home connect using the 2.4ghz and keep the 5ghz band for your firestick only. Setting the frequency to 80mhz will also give you more throughput. The fire stick also has MU-MIMO so turn that on in your router too, it usually only works when you turn 80mhz on first. Basically dial in your wifi connection and you'll have an almost seamless experience
This is insanely solid advice. Glad to see someone rlly knows what they're talking about.

Wait, 12 months of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?
I have had an 85" Samsung TV with this Xbox feature built in . Having the ethernet connected to my TV still does not fix the Input lag . The input lag is caused by BT signal interference between the remote and the device , which can be fixed with placement of electronic devices around the play space.
So like moving the TV remote farther?
The biggest thing about input delay on a device like this is wireless network simply isn't stable enough for cloud gaming just yet. With a wired connection I'm sure it runs great, but otherwise I imagine it's very inconsistent.
The input lag. I had that with cloud gaming on console until I realized everything needed to be a wired connection (even the controller helps) which isn’t possible with the Firestick. As reference I played 300+ hours of Starfield on an Xbox one S before upgrading to a series S.
The fire stick can be hardwired Ethernet. The adapter is $15, plugs into that micro b port on the stick.

@@ronellamieux7944there's still a very noticeable input latency.
I haven’t had issues with other apps but I’ll definitely check it out and compare
I think you’re onto something, while you can get these sticks to work with the TVs usb, it’s been my experience over time that they will start shutting themselves off so it’s probably a lower power draw.
They do not recommend using the TVs USB port to power the stick. It warns you about it especially when doing firmware updates.
It is mostly bad, it makes it generally slower, I own three around the house and I’ve noticed they work better plugged externally.

I get a line that scrolls down the screen with streaming with textures going from 720p to 480p with 300mbps wifi and 400 hardliners to series x.
Nice looking Pad Brother .... Glad to see your doing well in the new place ..... 😊😉🙃🙂
I hadn't used my Fire Stick 4K Max since early June (only for traveling) and I had 4 updates to go through first, then I installed the Xbox app. I think that your initial lag issue may have been the updates. Played Halo 3 for testing and it was flawless.
I don't think people will remember that the fire stick is capable of gaming.
I hope they include the 4k version of the firestick in the bundle as its a little faster than the lite and regular versions but if you really do have the money get the firecube huge improvement in speed
You can hook up a FireTV stick with an Ethernet adapter...
You are literally sending an input signal to God knows where, waiting for that to process and send feedback.
it depends on the time of day you tested it, cloud gaming quality drops during peak hour (after 10 am, until the afternoon)
I mean this is honestly good for families and kids who can’t afford consoles. It’s inclusive. Now kids won’t be made fun of for not playing games that other kids brag or talk about that can now be available to them
But what if they can't afford good internet for cloud gaming?
Xbox Cloud gaming on the Meta Quest 3 is the best device that they have and will put it on as you can have 250in screen playing any gamepass game and you can also hardwire any controller from PS5, Xbox and more straight to the headset for almost zero latency in the input
Is there anything different about the fire stick? Is it the same one you would buy on Amazon?
I’m getting my buddy to paint my firestick 4K max like a little Xbox lol
I stream Xbox Cloud Gaming exclusively. Fits into my lifestyle. No games, accessories, consoles, cords. Just games when I want. Like having access to Geforce Now and Luna also. I personally only pay for Gamepass at this point.
the firestick was probly still setting up and updating software it had to be doing something in the background when u first played and was done the next time
the streaming is only 1080p which is not ideal when using a fancy 4k tv.
PlayStation announced just the other day they where bring PlayStation plus to Amazon fire sticks and tvs just like Xbox

I mean, sure, there could have been a plethora or WLAN/LAN/WAN issues from slower speeds at that specific time to packet loss to WLAN channel interference, and downloads certainly would be worse when in conjunction with any of those issues, but something tells me that it was simply “behind the scenes housekeeping.”
BTW, I enjoyed the video! 👍
I think the lag was probably your own Internet. Try it at different times in day and night and youl find out if its a WiFi problem or the stick
I only play rpgs and strategy games on cloud gaming. The number of players on cloud affects the performance. That's what's behind the inconsistency.
I have that exact fire stick and can not find the app on its store is anyone else having the same issue? Hopefully they fix the issue soon smh
You can do this already on any Google TV box. Do it on my Nvidia shield all the time and play game pass
Did you turn on game mode on you're tv? Helps reduce input lag
I have crazy good internet. The problem is not the price range. Its the fact that streaming is garbage.
You can get an ethernet adapter for the fire stick. Supposedly, there's no lag when you install it. But if the price is not the problem, just keep/buy a normal Xbox.
The sweet spot in PC is to get new parts 3 years after the next big upgraded parts come out, you will always be able to run games beyond

I do not think this will kill the S. It is cloud gaming. Streaming games stinks.

Well help when they release a controller with WIFI built in
17:42 There's an ethernet adapter for the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
With the input lag, that may be from your router switching from a congested wifi channel to a less congested one. There's two ways to help alleviate this
1) use a WiFi analyzer app on your phone to see what wifi channels are the most isolated and set your router to them manually
2) You can get an ethernet adapter for the fire stick which will eliminate the issue of wifi channel congestion and make input lag much more consistent
In this situation streaming from the Series S to the fire stick would be a better option as it keeps everything on your home network, though I'm not sure if that's supported
Lately, I’ve mostly been using my Xbox as a streaming device 😂
somthing i like to see, is a tv that can have console modules, so you can add a playstation xox or a mini pc to the back of your tv
Background operations?
More like network operations. Internet traffic.
9:52 what freaking inconsistency? you tried it one time, you didn't plug it to an external power source as you were suggested, you probably didn't have it connected through 5ghz network and since then for what you have said here the thing has not failed again so what inconsistency are we talking about here?
What about the price increase for games pass
Probably will go up to 19.99 and everyone will start buying the stick and playing on windows. Anything but Xbox console it seems. They don't know that thisis gonna hurt console gaming for Microsoft
@BenDalorian75 it's never been about consoles They sell them at a loss anyways it pays more having everyone pay 20$ a month then it dose sell 10mill consoles at a loss
Xbox being on every platform is expanding there reach further then there competitors
More people playing on there app the better
Everyone dogs the series s because is not as powerful but in a time where everything is so expensive and inflation is so high having a cheap budget option for the mass is better for the consumer which is us and this cloud gaming push is something that definitely could be improved but has a solid place in the market and definitely for lower income or more casual gamers and on top of the games pass pc ports there reach is bigger then ever

Right move for xbox! I would like to see them expand beyond Amazon. As long as I'm connected to via ethernet, I have a great time cloud gaming.
Then what's the point about an Xbox just get a fire stick or a PC
because xbox you don't need to stream or just be stuck to gamepass games
There's multiple points to it, those who aren't heavy gamers that don't want to drop 500 on a console, those who already have a console but don't want to have to move it to different locations that they won't play much at, etc. Even for a small form factor where you know you'll only play game pass, maybe it'll be able to stream games you own at some point
Phone in your front pocket while playing? Less than a foot from your controller? Cell phones *will* increase lag for wireless controllers. Keep them on a side table or arm's length away on the couch - anywhere but near the controller or TV (or between them).
Xbox cloud sucks i doubt it will be any good
It might depend your internet, because it works fine for me, with a 2Gbps Fiber (soon to be 8Gbps)
Yeah obviously it'll work fine with that speed
@Spidouz
Your Internet just sucks, I have fiber internet and I play on the cloud all the time, can't even tell a difference tbh
Worked fine when I flew from Kansas to Maine, lay over at the airport for 3 hours, no problem. Played Diablo 4 no problem. Brought my Xbox controller with me
And used my iPhone
i can use cloud gaming on other services like shadow or gforce now but gamepass has input lag and sometimes the game will freeze for a sec and a glitchy line will go down the screen before continuing like nothing happened
Same for me. Gforce now is nearly flawless, while xbox runs a little more rough at times.
This streaming thing seems like a good idea as it's just not remote play but streaming by the cloud alogether.
Input lag? That's why we don't use wifi for cloud gaming (unless you have an amazing router), it could be that it requires a restart/reboot to reset the connection. A direct connection is always better and more stable.
You have to have fast internet. When I played I had 500mbps it was playable. The deciding factor is fast internet
If it’s anything like Amazon’s Luna, the thing that helped my performance was knocking down resolution a little. I had basically flawless at 720, which was fine.
Also, I got the Ethernet adapter for my Fire Stick and that’s SUPER helpful.
No! I want to own my physical games and not in cloud. I don’t support this new gaming method
