Hi. Im glad you made this video. Im applying during my last year at GMU. I know we dont really choose where we wish to volunteer but did you go by the departure deadline list when you applied?

      Hello :)
I didn't leave by my departure date. Here is my timeline marieinthepc.wordpress.com/peace-corps-timeline/ for some more details but I will say that in my group, I had one of the longest application periods. I've heard that they have streamlined the process and it is shorter. Thanks for stopping by and good luck!!

I served in Ghana from 2007 to 2009, I agree with what you say. I would probably add a Leatherman to that list and a headlamp.

+Pamela Rivera Great! Especially the flats, they have a little more coverage and it keeps out the little rocks and things.

Hey girl! I am preping to leave for my 27 months and I was wondering if you had any other tips or advice? Also, which bag did you get? Do you remember the name?

Hey! Thanks for your comment. So I got the classic Timbuk2 Messenger, they give a discount to volunteers and it stood up great over my service. It was the large size classic messenger www.timbuk2.com/classic-messenger-bag-dip/1915-4-1962.html?category=everyday-messengers I found journaling/blogging really helpful to me! Have a great service!
