Jacob Ramage I just got accepted to serve starting in July. The application process is long and thorough, but easily navigated because their communication to you (the applicant) is excellent. The initial application takes a solid hour by itself (not including preparing your resume, if you don’t already have one). Also, while I don’t think it’s technically required, you’re pretty much expected to have a bachelors degree (or about to graduate, if you’re applying for a position that starts after graduation), at a minimum. I’d be happy to answer questions about the application process, since it is still fresh to me.

You can tell them that you are a volunteer, that much is a given I think. However, some people do not know what the Peace Corps is and may confuse the title of Corps as being a military service.
My question is, do volunteers travel in a group with others, or are they just thrown into the country without knowing anybody? I'm just really confused at that bit.
Generally you go to the country as a group, spend about 8-12 weeks of in country pre service training together, and then after that are placed in different areas and are generally on your own.
