I understand why this workout was done, sport specific, but I just fail to see how this type of training is beneficial. All this workout is doing is nothing but cardio. I promise an 8x8 workout done the way Vince Gironda advocates will blow all this cardio out the water. Or even the late strength coach Dr Ken Leistner's workout will destroy this type of cardio workout and bands. After a lifting session like described with Gironda or Leistner, I promise that you will be out of breath and it will create more strength/muscle as well as endurance.
Farris Baba As a lineman myself, this stuff is needed just as much as lifting. No matter how much you lift, you will not get as much stamina gain and speed gain as if you were to do this every other day with lifting in between. Yes lifting is important, but when our team needs us in the fourth quarter. We have to be fresh.
He is also trying to lose weight so just lifting isn't going to help that...
