    One thing I dislike on the digital gauge cluster, is the slow updating gear indicator. I mean, you don't need it in a manual car, you know yourself which gear you are in at the specific moment.
    But man, does that take a long time to update it after the shift has happened.

    • @twrk139
      @twrk139 Год назад +3

      It probably displays the gear from the tachometer + speedo alone which is why it would take longer

    • @tifiembig

      its not that long lol. its not even a second. It may seem long because the clutch is not fully disengaged, but I get why its annoying.

      @markholdenried5616 Год назад +3

      My Mazda manual does the same. It's because it only updates when the clutch is at top of pedal travel, so digital update seems to lag, but that's by design.

    Thanks for reviewing this super fun car. It's not like many of the cars that you do review, but I think that it does its job just right.

    • @MemesOnShorts

    As much as I love this car, it WAY WAY WAY overpriced here in Germany. You could get a GT86 Dragon special edition for 31-32k brand new (which was completely fair) and they want 35k for a base spec GR86 and close to 40k for the "Premium". The US price is great, because it barely costs more than the GT86 did, but here in Germany they went complete bonkers.

    • @thixie
      @thixie Год назад

      That's unfortunately really just due to the euro depreciating versus the dollar in that time. Convert the $ price to € and VAT and you're practically there.

    • @xXYannuschXx
      @xXYannuschXx Год назад +2

      @@thixie Not really, the GR86 is sold over MSRP here, which is not normal in Germany (other cars also arent that much more expensive here than in the states). At the dealer, you ususally get a discount of about 10% (more or less, depending on the car). Problem is we will only get 1000 GR86 for all of Europe, which massively spiked the price.

    I actually like the sound of the car. The fact, that's it's not complicated makes it attractive to me (i drive an old Audi and it's a nightmare because of unnecessary complications)
    ... but the power though... the power... 200-250hp is a city car.... slightly more sporty for the city, but still not enough.
    But some tuning on that baby... 400-450 horsepower.... a rear wing and I AM IN LOVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @GM-fh5jp

      I agree with a horsepower increase for the GR86...around 275 would be ideal for its lighweight chassis and components but anything much over that would require a lot more heavy duty parts to deal with it.
      If you want to go faster and harder...get a better car with a better engine.

      Of course... That would require for the pistons to be changed with maybe iron made (i assume that the stock are aluminium which cannot hold 400hp)
      But overall... With proper tuning, removing seats, adding weight to the engine... I think it's absolutely possible

    Toyota Europe really makes strange combos for the GR86 depending in which coutry they sell it. So, it seems by your video that they sell the premium interior with the 17 inch wheels in the Netherlands? Here in Spain we can only buy the base interior (35000€), but then can choose to keep the stock 17", or pay a plus 3500€ for the black18´s and get upgraded brake pads, and then you can opt for a 6500€ plus to get the "circuit pack" which includes 6 piston, 350mm AP Racing brakes,18 inch forged Braid wheels and Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires. So they are basicaly officially dealer tuning their GR86 here, they even come TUV approved which is odd 😂

      Not quite, the owner has bought the 17 inch wheels separately for the winter tyres. You can tell by the headlights. The base models (with 17s) don't have the full LED dynamic headlights.

    Modern cars are filled with some useful stuff but too many unnecessary electronics. One thing I cant forgive car makers is fake engine sound.

    i have a gt86 with 2000 kms on it, so brand new. 2000 with 200 cv and goes sideways everytime I want. This new version is worse in aestetich and also engine has no senso. it needs a turbo if they want to change in something more fast...

    Problem these manufacturers have, is that with all this crap about noise and whatnot, you can’t blame them for making it quiet. I mean in the uk they’re even putting in sound cameras.

    Is it me or is the New Honda Prelude just a copy of the GR86/Subaru thing-a-ma-jig (can't recall the name right now)? Hey auto industry, it's really disappointing when so many cars start looking the same (again).

    Lost me when you said 'some cars have too much power' as its clearly a cover for the GR86 which is seriously underpowered. Drive a Veloster N or Elantra N.

    Good performance for the buck, yes. I just wish the styling was a bit less plain. I'd have a hard time telling this apart from plain jane civics rolling down the street.
    Also why isthe cluster so slow yo update gear numbers when you shift? That could seriously freak a driver out.
