3rd round continuing for today and i stop here, continue tomorrow for the rest 10 episodes! Thank you again to the channel that I passed one of the assessment of a platform!
Tremendous job guys, thank you one more time for putting this session together! It really shows that you've been working hard to offer challenging expressions to interpret, specially because of how differently they are expressed in both languages so that they sound natural. Congrats, and thanks a bunch!!!
I am a Portuguese interpreter but when I listen carefully I can very well understand Spanish and it helps me a lot in my interpretation practice. The scenerio is discussed in great detail with lot of medical vocabulary. Great job.Thank you so much
Very difficult session. I had to replay it by parts a bunch of times to translate all the info completely. I also had look up more information about the medicines mentioned in order to understand and translate them better, but all that added a lot to my preparation. Thanks so much!
Awesome! Welcome! Take a look at our playlists. There are lots of new words there specially the Tuesday Terp Challenge and Unwind Sessions ruclips.net/user/Interpretyourworldplaylists
That is the only way to do it. Jump into the deep end to learn how to swim. The only drawback is that you can’t ask for shorter segments on the practice videos, but it’s still great (tough) practice.
You are welcome! We are trying hard to get these scenarios as close to a real situation as possible. We give voice actors the freedom to use their natural voice, speed, tone and word selection. This means that some videos will have faster speech and other slower speech, which we think, will provide you with an added challenge to help improve your interpretation.
Great subject and very Challenging! I learned a lot. I'm practicing for my Oral Exam. Just some info, If you are on a desktop got to the ... (3 dots) after Download and you can find part of the Transcript. Also, is o.k to pause. I got a recorder like the doctors use, so I can record my rendition. I have found it, very help full to listen to oneself. Thank you for all your hard work! and all the questions here. The question on the medicines ;)
You are welcome. This one is harder than a real situation, but good practice as you state. That recorder trick works wonders to improve interpretation. Good luck on your oral exam, keep us posted!
how would you recommend handling the longer utterances if I just can't keep up? is it better to pause the video or to try my best to summarize? I'm very new to interpreting so I'm still learning how to handle this
Just practice, there are no shortcuts. Never summarize, your notes should help you be as accurate as possible. In real life you can always ask for repetitions and shorter segments, a limitation on these sessions, though. It would help. We just don’t have the time to do it. I would like to invite you to our Patreon page where you can find ad-free videos, scripts and much more…. www.patreon.com/Interpretyourworld It would really mean a lot to us if you can help us in sharing the video that way our channel can grow, we can reach more interpreters and provide much more educational material. Thanks!
Thank you IYW. Do you have a suggested method to study this long and short segments, besides note taking. Like what you do with unknown terms, how you handle a short one vs a long one, when to use term memory more specifically and when to write notes and so on. Also, how about a warm up exercise before proceeding with the real practice? Sorry, too many questions at once, right? Again thank you for your service to all interpreters.
Have you looked at this playlist? ruclips.net/p/PLt1PbUmmpClecl2VUSBRo0KdjnQN-i-K5 it should answer some of your questions. Feel free to ask if there are still any doubts.
@@Interpretyourworld Of course, I totally get it. By the way, love your videos! I've been practicing a lot with them and have noticed a huge improvement. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us.
Hi, Excuse me, Serotonin is a neurotransmitter closely related to the control of emotions and mood. Norepinephrine is a catecholamine with multiple physiological and homeostatic functions that can act as a hormone and as a neurotransmitter to control stress. Hi you can find the scripts and answer sheets for all of the medical videos up to #26 for just a dollar on Patreon. www.patreon.com/Interpretyourworld
The serotonin part was so challenging. I was going to praise myself for knowing serotonin originally but then came norepinephrine as well as catecholamine 😂 Sorry no praise anymore
Yes, praise! This is an unrealistic scenario and very unlikely that a provider will talk to a patient using these terms. This was a failed attempt at outsourcing the scripts. I kept it because it makes for a good challenge. Keep working hard!
Este fue innecesariamente complicado. Se necesitan conocimientos médicos muy específicos para poder traducir lo que dice el doctor. Hasta injusto diría yo
Practice with the latest uploads, now including subtitles… ruclips.net/video/bNuEZ8eBSh0/видео.html

Hi! I'm sorry what are the names of the 3 meds the doctor prescribed for her?
Fluoxetine, desvenlafaxine and lithium carbonate
@@Interpretyourworld oh my god... thanks, that was hard.
Thank you, this is excellent practice!

Great Video! It's pretty challenging, but that's how you learn :D
Thank you! That is right only by taking on more challenging situations is that we grow and become better. Let’s get it!

That was informative!
Right!? The first time I read the script I thought, “A practice session and a lesson, good stuff”.
it was the medication for me, I didn't get the second one correctly, can someone write it down for me so that I can take note of it please
@InterpretYourWorld Could you please do more scenarios regarding education and school?
Nice to hear from you Chloe. Karla is working to get you guys GIP’s every week. I will let her know.
Thank you very much
You are welcome!
This was tough! I'd like it tho.
These scenarios are tougher than a real session, so real sessions can be a cake walk when you encounter them.
would be of a great help if you would add the subtitles please

“This is the interpreter speaking. Can you please (slow down)(pause) so that the interpreter can
transmit your message?
Yes, sometimes you have to do that. Unfortunately, that is one of the limitations of practice videos.

Lo se. Fue un intento fallido de outsourcing, pero, es un buen reto. Muy pronto estaremos revisando, editando y actualizando estos videos de práctica.
Con práctica se logra.
