I think this is why we all gather and connect with REN. The struggles, the sharing, the reality the messages. Also his talent, but he is connecting. Giving hope and uplifting.
Hi. Ren is agnostic, but he has a wide knowledge and understanding of religions, from a sociological perspective.
Outwardly agnostic, but in his last few songs i can sense a change of heart. The holy spirit is most definitely at work

@@defaultbeasty7964that is your opinion. People don’t need to be religious to be spiritual. Especially life paths 7’s like Ren.
Ren is first to admit his spirituality fluctuates from nihilistic to agnostic to more spieitual. He went months without his cross earring abd fairly recently started wearing a cross necklace. He has sampled many religions, always cynical about mankind's ability to twist any message for his own greed and desire for power. He does talk about it in his 8 Chapters, documenting his nightmare trying to find healing.
"Troubles so hard" was originally done by Vera Hall back in the 1930s. Moby, a techno artist, also used the refrain in his own way. I think Ren obtained the rights for it from whoever is in charge of the Vera Hall original.

@@supertuscans9512.. The Library of Congress holds the copyright to that particular Vera Hall recording, which is just that, a recording of her singing Troubles So Hard, no music, while sitting on her front porch on a hot Alabama day in 1937.
I’m surprised that is still within copyright but then I profess no great expertise on the subject of Copyright but vaguely recall they typically expire after 70 years or so. Seems a bit strange as I think drug patents only last 15 years or so.
I have seen the bts of this. The mic stand had been broken off so there was tape and his feet and legs holding the mic in place. There was also the computer and leads in the foot well and the neon light taped to the back of the drivers seat. Kinda looked like a Rubik's Cube back there. This was filmed in a Tesla for the quiet and was done a month before the other one . I think Ren is anti religion but connected to his own higher self. He says he envys people of faith.

Ren has stated that he is Agnostic , I am too & I think maybe like me & a lot of others who have been thru so much pain in this life we have questions ,we want to believe but we are searching for answers & we are searching for relief ..

Shure SM7B Dynamic Vocal Microphone. My Guess for the recording equipment probably a Zoom R24, R16 or R8. Very portable can be battery powered. 8 Inputs so multiple mics plus plug in the guitar with EQ and Compression. Saves multi track to SDHC cards. What I would use in that kind of environment. Certainly with the R24 plenty of room to mix down the track on the road loads of effect such as reverb and compression built in and you can link it straight to a DAW.
In the original he explains his story somewhat in msgs at the bottom of the MV its what he pulls from his life has been torture IDK if I could have done the same and struggled through what this man went through...Thats why every time he sings/raps/performs you feel it right down in the middle of your soul.

Love this version, Ren always kills his acoustic takes, but the context provided in the original video with the messages about chronic illness and the need for hope, especially if you take the time to watch his 8 ‘episodes’ on his RenMakesStuff channel where he talks about his journey, accompanied by relevant music, is incredibly powerful. the "Trouble so hard" Lyric at the begining and end is von Vera Hall. Ren is not a normal beliver in a religious way. But maybe he belives in a God. I can not tell. He mention somthing like this in the stream after his Hi Ren Video, where he explained what he meant with "...what seperate us from angles, demons and God!"

He's said in the past he was agnostic (I think it was in The Charismatic Voice interview iirc but it may have been one of his lives) but only because in his time of psychosis he thought the maybe he was battling evil and truly studied world religions searching for healing but there was no answer so because of that he had to conclude he just had no way of knowing. That being said, all his songs that touch on religion in the past have been based around Christianity and in the last few it seems to me at least, he may be being drawn to Christianity. It also may simply be parts are resonating with him now. His post today on his second channel had a lot of Biblical themes sprinkled in

Lyme, myalgic encephalomyelitis, other invisible illnesses can be incredibly insidious. Ren was lucky to get the opportunity to try stem cells, and them be effective. They aren’t effective for many. Thank you for the reaction. I believe you were thinking of Shure, as the microphone name.

I think I prefer the original video, for it's raw power and grit. This one is a tad more plaintive. What you don't see is how Ren is wedged in the back seat with all the sound equipment, and the mic gaffer taped to hold it up. Josh driving, avoiding potholes, and Kai (possibly gaffer taped as well 😉) filming and not falling over. No idea how many takes. They do a lot of route, and site scouting before hand.

its origionally first recorded in the late 1920's i think,, its an old gospel type thing from the southern states

Moby's did NOT make this song ,Moby sampled Vera Hall's original song Trouble so Hard but Ren paid for the rights to use the sample & reportedly Moby did not but eventually gave credit after legal threats were made ,Ren did it the right way to begin with as he has always had a lot of respect for Vera Hall ..
Ren paid Vera Halls family for the rights to the original 1930. Moby sampled it as well.
