Haven't been seeing enough love for Voice of Cards; it's a Yoko Taro game (yes, the man behind Drakengard & Nier) on the Switch, with music composed by Keiichi Okabe (who has also worked on Drakengard & Nier) and amazing character design by Kimihiko Fujisaka (who also worked on, you guessed it, Drakengard). It's like Hand of Fate but turn-based, and the immersive tabletop elements are just amazing for a D&D player like myself! AWESOME DIRECT! I was cheering! This absolutely reignited my interest in the Switch, I was worried we weren't going to be seeing anything good for a while but it's back baby I am so excited!
The only real benefit to the Switch online sub, is access to a small selection of retro games (oh, and they lift the paywall so you can play p2p multiplayer games with friends, with lots of lag, and ludicrous restrictions). Now, they add two long overdue addition to said collection of old retro games, but they want you to pay more for the sub? That is definitely not amazing, but it is hilarious.
Especially when other services have several monthly releases of much higher cost titles, and PS5 has the PS Plus collection of several much more expensive titles. Those libraries of old games would be worth $20 each, sure. But not worth any monthly price bump or paywall.
@@edgeofsins I agree and too am disappointed by the lack of games. Nintendo should have at minimum added two reasonably popular NES and SNES games monthly instead of the shovelware they have been dumping every two or three months. That said, I would gladly pay the same price as PlayStation Plus ($60/year) if Nintendo committed to the following; 1-2 releases a month for each retro console. Additional retro consoles biannually with 6-8 games at launch. Lastly, one free newer game a month which they could do one of two ways. Either pick any Eshop game under a certain price point, say $20, or they could throw up five to ten games each month and people could pick one for free then the remaining games could go on sale for the rest of the month as an added membership benefit.

Unpopular opinion: I did not like the direct mostly because there werent much new major 1st party games announced besides Kirby. While the inclusion of N64 and Genesis in Nintendo Switch Online is great, I strongly hate that you'll have to pay more to access these systems.
I mean bayonetta is pretty much 1st party, it's published by nintendo since sega ditched platinum. Splatoon 3 got another trailer. I understand tho that you might have been looking forward to more new nintendo games
Ehh.. it wasn't an amazing direct for me, but it was pretty good. I'm excited to see more about the Kirby game, and I'm also excited for Triangle Strategy (I love TRPGs). We've already seen a ton of Dread, so nothing new there, and I've already pre-ordered it, cuz I'm a huge Metroid fan. The Actraiser game looks fun too. I also gotta get back into Monster Hunter It's awesome to see the N64 here, that's for sure, though most N64 games I'd play I've already played when I was younger 😅 Hope younger fans get to have fun there though.

I didn't have expectations but was still a bit disappointed. That being said it seems like there was something for everyone which is cool. I can't wait to play OOT again!
They need to give NEW Zelda info. The 35th anniversary came and went and we got nothing! OOT is great but it’s effing tired at this point (it’s not even the best 3D Zelda). It’s been ported to every console Nintendo has put out since 99 even handhelds. Give us something new!!!
Kirby is so cool! But back to Beyo, she has her baby hair and she has a Japanese influenced fit(not a lot but still), and her demons are no longer bound by hair! She’s so op now 😭I’m so hyped!
I teared up with Beyo, I thought it was going to be astral chain not Beyo 💀 the Japanese through me off and the fact that the people could see and fight the creators made me think … oh, not Beyo while you where saying it was obviously bayo and I was looking at you like … how 😀💀💀💀
I was actually pleasantly surprised. N64 online - knowing paper mario and Banjo are coming, a 3D Kirby Game, Voice of Cards (looks pretty cool!), more footage of Metroid Dread, Bayonetta 3 and again…the N64 coming to NSO with some decent games!
I'd agree with that, the N64 and kirby was the bast part. I totally think if kirby didn't leak before, I would have enjoyed it way more. I specifically love hardware and especially controllers, so getting the genesis and the n64 controllers was awesome for me.
That was a pretty lame Direct: a bunch of old games, a bunch of live announced for later time, no date for the big games, commercials for games that are like weeks away, N64 for extra price… So yeah, for me, it was a 4/10.
I swear, they should make a scene in the Mario film where an animated Charles Martinet goes to Mario, points a gun at his head, and tells him to give his character back
Fred Armisten as Cranky Kong and Charlie Day as Luigi sold the movie for me! Was an awesome direct but the fact that the Mega Drive/Genesis controller is the 3-button one while Japan gets the 6-button controller is 💩 it’d be awesome if the Japanese MegaDrive mini controllers worked though as I did go to the effort of hunting one down in Akihabara when I was last in Japan!
Hey Wood. I was in your live stream for the Direct. Been watching your channel since I started looking into buying a switch about two years ago. I was a little frustrated yesterday during the Splatoon 3 portion of the presentation cause I was excited to hear and see it and you just kept going on about Chris Pratt in the Mario movie. As a huge Bayonetta fan, the intro of the trailer was quite the emotional rollercoaster... Platinum! Omg it's Bayonetta! Is it? "Gunshots" It is!! "Lappy"... What?! Astral Chain 2?... Cool I guess... "Witch time" Omg! It's really Bayonetta!! Well played Nintendo... Can't wait 😁!
There's a free demo on the eShop and I wholeheartedly encourage to try it out, you won't want to sleep on this!
Honestly that one was the only one that really peaked my interest and where I'm interested in trying the demo.
I'm always looking forward to more Yoko Taro shenanigans. Very strongly considering copping it on release day
Man, I've gotten everything Yoko has done, even NieR Reincarnation, and I hate mobile games, but idk. This one just isn't doing it for me. Glad to see others are loving it, though
My name was in the video cool! 0:38
Yeh boy! Big love from Sydney. Pumped for Kazooie and hopefully Conkers online multi-player.
If you have an Xbox you can play it on the pass & the rare reply game is also on sale.
My favorite part about the live stream was the two announcements after the Mario Movie where you literally couldn't focus on anything except Chris Pratt
AWESOME DIRECT! I was cheering! This absolutely reignited my interest in the Switch, I was worried we weren't going to be seeing anything good for a while but it's back baby I am so excited!
4:11 Last of us 1: Saving Joel towards the end in the mall - v similar layout
CHRIS PRATT+MARIO=MARIO GALAXY
The Beyo graphics look so good, I’m kinda scared how it’s going to run in the switch but I don’t care I’m so hyped!
Perhaps that was docked
That was my thought exactly. The fact it releases in 2022 puts me at ease because they have time to polish it.
@@josetakapele I thought vergil was going to slice through 2022 to reveal it actually releases November
@@josetakapele polish😀 I thought it looked great 💀😂
@@dannyblanco8544 it does. I meant more for the couple frame drops that were there. Overall the game looks great and I can’t wait to play it.
Also, the point of these is to summarize the direct for those who can't watch it live. So we appreciate it :)
I was hoping for a Fire Emblem or Xenoblade, but I'm totally fine with that Kirby AND Bayonetta they showed. Really great direct!
The Bayonetta ending was the only disappointment for me personally but it's a hype game that was long overdue for an announcement
Jack Black playing Bowser made me happier than anything ever has
The fact that they're giving us an Animal Crossing direct is wild. Nintendo usually pays AC fans DUST.
It aired at 11pm UK time which was perfect for me as I could watch it walking home from work, this was the first time I’d been able to watch one of your live reaction videos and I absolutely loved it, great direct and fantastic video from you as always, keep up the great work! :)
I'm really happy that one of the best directs we have to date is on my birthday it makes me so happy and I couldn't have wished for a better birthday present to be honest with a great presentation like this!😍🤩
I'm also a 23rd sept baby, Happy Birthday! What an event!
Happy birthday 🎂
Happy birthday!!
"the coolest thing in the direct"
*not splatoon 3*
me: *pulls out knife* excuse me bro?
Big if true!
Small if false
Me at 4:11 : "is that coconut mall?"
I really loved this direct!
1:03 7 AM in the morningXD
You can tell he's excited.
I want the last Smash fighter to be Sakuri himself!
Unpopular opinion:
I did not like the direct mostly because there werent much new major 1st party games announced besides Kirby.
Bayonetta says hello
You only looking for "major first party game" announcements is the problem then.
the bayonetta 3 cameo make sense as Nintendo owns both properties now so i could see doing something like that to blend the worlds together
Ehh.. it wasn't an amazing direct for me, but it was pretty good. I also gotta get back into Monster Hunter
It's awesome to see the N64 here, that's for sure, though most N64 games I'd play I've already played when I was younger 😅 Hope younger fans get to have fun there though.
great direct really enjoyed the video. thanks Wood for showing us the essentials from the direct; so excited for the new Kirby game and Bayonetta 3
keep gaming, you are about to level up!
Definitely a 7.5 out of ten for me and overall impressed with the direct
I loved the direct
Also Chris Pratt as Mario HELLO!!!!!!!!
Jack Black as Bowser WTF!!!!!!!
Spread some love to dying light! It's still just a port, but it's a great game with all dlc and content (and there's a lot) with online coop! It's amazing.
That's awesome
@UnjustifiedRecs yeah, its 30 fps on last gen and 60 on Xbox series x with fps boost, I enjoy it on PC but I'm glad for my fellow switch players that can get behind it
Nice recap Wood! You got the major points across! Other RUclipsrs that follow Nintendo need to follow your format!
10/10 IT WAS AMAZING. I wish the smash character was revealed though
Same
Yes!!
No I get it.. They want sakurai to get all the attention insted of having it in the middle of a direct and move on to the next thing since it may be the last he ever does
10:49 Dammit, Wood. Because of that edit, If someone hasn't already made it, now someone's gonna make a Shrek meme video of Seth Rogen as Donkey.
@@TheWhipsnap Dude, BotW2 is in development.
@@NuiYabuko for 3 years. And all we’ve seen is a minute and a half trailer. Not even a port of TP hd, which even by lazy standards is something..
Ah, I wasn't the only one singing Ce Ce Penniston when Bayo 3 showed up. I always knew you were a man of culture!!
It really was one of my favorite directs ever💀💀 the Beyo was my favorite news 😆 but in general so much good news!!!!!!
Kirby and voice of cards were the highlights for me, I can't wait!
Kirby is so cool! But back to Beyo, she has her baby hair and she has a Japanese influenced fit(not a lot but still), and her demons are no longer bound by hair! She’s so op now 😭I’m so hyped!
Wood's reaction to the Mario movie cast is priceless. I do agree that most of those choices are ...odd.
Ecco the dolphin is finally coming to the switch! We did it
F-Zero-X was technically there though, it's coming to Switch Online. :P
I teared up with Beyo, I thought it was going to be astral chain not Beyo 💀 the Japanese through me off and the fact that the people could see and fight the creators made me think … oh, not Beyo while you where saying it was obviously bayo and I was looking at you like … how 😀💀💀💀
I knew it was Bayonetta 3 because of the leak
Take a shot every time he says Beyo...
@@Ponaru 💀💀💀
Winter runs from 21st of December to 20th of March, so yes most of the Winter titles were going to be 2022 xD
This is genuinely the best direct to ever happen. I am so excited for the N64 games
Edit: minus the mario movie cast.
The direct was just ok for me.
Of course it was, you’re a Nintendo fan you’ll never be happy
I'd agree with that, the N64 and kirby was the bast part. I totally think if kirby didn't leak before, I would have enjoyed it way more. I specifically love hardware and especially controllers, so getting the genesis and the n64 controllers was awesome for me.
@@InsrtFnnyHr Kirby didn't leak.
@@bretwhitten7038 "Nintendo fan" is generous.
@@NuiYabuko true
Jack Black as Bowser KOed me; I nearly keeled over laughing!
Listen, I'm very happy that metroid dread is finally releasing considering how long we waited but I'm not that interested in 2D metroid games.
And?
@@NuiYabuko what do you mean?
Saw the direct and love it. Great video
That was a pretty lame Direct: a bunch of old games, a bunch of live announced for later time, no date for the big games, commercials for games that are like weeks away, N64 for extra price… So yeah, for me, it was a 4/10.
Cringe
So you learnt what Directs are about then? Great.
I swear, they should make a scene in the Mario film where an animated Charles Martinet goes to Mario, points a gun at his head, and tells him to give his character back
Not bad, but very far away of being the "best Direct". Not much for this year. I hope there is some shadow drops in the next months
Not much for this year?! This year is stacked.
Seth Rogan won't be playing Donkey Kong, he's actually playing his cousin, Dankey Kong
Are you sure we only saw a door? Because at 5:10 that's (probably) the café 0___0
Was hoping for a new 3d Donkey Kong myself!
The point is you are how I get my Nintendo news and updates from and I doubt I'm the only one.
I unironically love the Mario cast from top to bottom
The N64 stuff doesn't excite me a lot yet, but we'll see what games they add. I am also excited for Kirby.
That direct felt like a roller coaster to me😂
N64, Genesis, Actraiser Remake, Questionable Mario Movie Cast
Nintendo: Let make a Mario movie.
Assistant: Who is going to do the voices?
Nintendo: Any famous actor we can get
Me: 😂
Some of the world's most experienced voice actors
My mom predicted Genesis online. Right before the direct she walked into the room and said: "I think Sega Genesis will be in it."
6:45 It's "could have" and "should have", not "could of" nor "should of".
Other than the head scratcher of casting Pratt as Mario: Charlie Day as LUIGI, Jack Black as Bowser and Rogen as DK are all PERFECTLY HILARIOUS CASTING CHOICES! GENIUS CASTING!!
Im not a Bayo fan but im so glad its fans are finally getting the 3rd game. Happy for you guys.
