Great job, good explanation on each step as well as showing where the slight difficulties lie. This was the most comprehensive video I have seen on this installation. Thanks
Figured I’d try change it out. After this I’ll just get a new phone 😂
From Where can i buys apple original parts any website link? share with me
Where do you buy your ports from? I understand if you don't want to share. Just got a bad port from another supplier and would like to replace it once more since its stuck on a boot loop. Thanks
Mobilesentrix or phonelcdparts or injured gadgets
Enjoying these videos, with thanks. By the looks, it's not much different to repairing laptops and desktops.
wow so many things to undo to replace the charging port. Is it not possible to take the charging port out and just desolder the port itself and put a new one in, so you can use the existing cable?
Technically this is possible however you’d have to remove the whole assembly nonetheless
Terrific video. Would be great to have a recommendation of where to get good quality replacement parts
I agree with you. He could have left a link to where to buy those
Would this stop it from being waterproof?
Will phone require update due to port relkacement
You will not get non genuine apple part installed notification?
I’m curious if it’s possible to replace the lightning for a USB-C instead. Probably not with the motherboard having a controller chip for the lightning but it would be a nice breakthrough if so and that it just worked out somehow.
TY for video.
Dose this compromise the IP68” which means it's fully protected from dust and can handle being underwater for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 6 meters?
Yes definitely
The black glue-like substance is the seal and unless you put a new one on there is no protection against dust or water
Where you buy that charging port ?
ebay
Is it the same for iPhone Mini?
I am curious aswell
Is this still water proof ?
if you replace the watertight adhesive yes
Dose this compromise the IP68” which means it's fully protected from dust and can handle being underwater for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 6 meters?
NEVER slide something metal down inside an electronic or electrical device! I'm sure the OP knew what he was doing, but for the novice, if you don't know what's inside, never use a tool made out of conductive material. You will definitely short something out if you make contact with internal components. That being said, this was a great video!
But does not disconnecting the battery as he did at the start safeguard that happening?
Battery is disconnected. You won’t be shorting anything
@@lukecarvill7721 yes if the battery is disconnected, you won’t be shorting anything. Just allow a few minutes for everything to discharge..
@@lukecarvill7721the comment was directed at using the razor blade to pry open the screen 0:40. Since that step is before disconnecting the battery the likelihood of shorting the something is high (not including accidentally cutting a ribbon by pushing the blade too far inside). There's a reason why guitar picks and safe open tools are the norm in phone repair. No one is immune from shorting a phone so metal pry tools aren't recommended.

Great guide, thank you :)
muito obrigado !
That looks like the biggest pain I. The ass to just change a charging port
Some jobs should be left out to professionals, this is one of them!
Worth your time to become skilled since it fails in every phone , always
I don't think that taking of few screws is work that only professionals can do
Yeah I’ll just send it to apple for repair….. screw this
