I was just a kid in the 3rd grade when this happened, but I'll never forget how this team really brought all of Toronto, Ontario and all of Canada together. How families and friends would throw parties just to watch a game.
The way Coca-Cola came through with those amazing songs and adverts forever connecting the 2 franchises. It was a great time to be a baseball fan and to be alive.

They didn’t quite go back to the old design, unfortunately. The current logo is such an inelegant, graceless mess compared to the original logo.

@@KeithMatland The thing about those Blue Jay teams was that there may have been times when they struggled in the regular season especially the 1st Half of 93 and August of 92, but whenever the pennant race or postseason heated up, those Jays teams were never phased by the pressure of the moment. Game 6 of both the 1992 and 1993 World Series is evidence.

I was at opening game of the 93 season, got to walk across the field and take a picture of the team and the World Series trophy before the game. I still remember the roar of that crowd to this day, I've never seen the Skydome so full. After the lockout my love for the Jays and the game dwindled but I'll always remember those two glorious years when Toronto finally had a sports team to be proud of.

He got hurt, but was healthy again that the Jays included him on the postseason roster! He even scored a run in game 4 vs. Philadelphia and got a hit the next game!

Rob Butler played only 17 games for the Blue Jays in 1993 and had two at bats in the entire post season. Then he spent the entire off season traveling around telling everybody about his role on the World Series Champion team instead of training for the 1994 season. He subsequently only had 53 career hits. He really milked his two at bats rather than have a serious major league career.

Two historic things happened to the Toronto Bluejays in 1992 and 1993. The Jays were the first team to repeat as World Champion
since the 1977-78 New York Yankees. Previously, the city's last title
was when hockey's Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup in 1967,
over the Montreal Canadiens (fittingly it was Canada's Centennial
year. It was the last season of the "Original Six" era in the NHL,as
well.). The Jays took the World Championship to Canada. Cito
Gaston is the first (and so far,the only) black to skipper a major
league team to the World Series Championship.

    • @MassenaLineRailfan
      @MassenaLineRailfan 6 лет назад

Dusty Baker led the San Francisco Giants to the World Series in 2002, losing to the Anaheim Angels in seven games. Ron Washington led the Texas Rangers to back to back World Series apearences in 2010 and 2011(Losing to the Giants in five games in '10 and losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games in '11) And last year Dodgers manager Dave Roberts who is not only an African-American but who is also of Japanese ancestry, became the first manager of Asian descent in the history of MLB to lead a team to the Fall Classic. So Cito Gaston is not the only black manager to take a team to the World Series, but he made them count.

Cito Gaston replacing Olerud with Molitor was a huge decision. Wow did Molitor hit and run the bases. MVP.

Love how the video begins. The copyright holder began a VHS cassette with a warning, which neither the ""channe" nor RUclips respects. Folks, the path to being a billionaire is made clear.l

Joe Carter told a magazine in Cleveland in 1989 that his ultimate sports fantasy was to win Game 7 of the World Series with a home run. Joe, you did one better than that.
