Great presentation, as usual. The biggest problem is that "shopping around" for a dealer that doesn't add on these charges has become almost impossible. One suspects that dealers are in cahoots with each other about these practices.

yesterday in ontario I noticed kia dealer charging 2595 dollars for ceramic coating on brand new car. not to mention 599 dollars. since its a public info advertised by the dealer on auto trader its not illegal to say its a cardinal kia from niagara falls.

Important to note here that all-in pricing is the consumer’s entitlement. All taxable line items within that advertised price are still negotiable.
Remind that when a dealer refuses to negotiate based on the “what-you-see-is-what-you-get advertised price”.

I have even seen some dealers asking for additional charges at the time to delivery stating that someone cancelled the car and its available with add-ons.

Thank you for a great video. I am picking up a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid in 2 weeks. It is my first hybrid vehicle and I am concerned with the battery and computer systems. Should I consider buying an extended warranty for that?

Here in New York there is a cap on doc fees at $175. In New Jersey there is no cap. I was quoted $799 doc fee at an NJ dealership. So it pays to remind dealers what other states can charge.

$2K for tire and wheel protection? When someone buys a new car and damage a wheel, their insurance company should pay for damages and tires cost A LOT less than $2 grand.
Bend over “Valued Customer” your wonderful dealership is about ready to pork you !
    Great video Shari !
Here I thought that only American dealerships screwed their “Valued Customers”, but I can see that Canadian dealerships do it too.
I wonder if they learn about this at international car shows?

all good to hear. I have a 2023 Prius AWD coming in on mid May and want to make sure that I don't over pay. I preordered the car but the dealership said that they got a hold of one with the same trim as I ordered but in blue, which is fine.
