Junk wax era - back to 1988. Ace Hardware, Costco, Walgreens, Target, Walmart - there are pallets and pallets around!😊

Another point I wanted to make is that the big money cards - T206, 1933 Goudy, 1952 Topps, etc. -are so valuable is because they were not produced to be collected. The selling point was the gum or cigarettes that cards came with. You were supposed to enjoy them for bit and then toss them, put them in bicycle tires, cut them out, play games with them, etc., which is mostly what happened. But a very certain few decided to collect them, and the demand soon outweighed the supply, thus driving up the price. When businessmen discovered people collected the cards or wanted to start collecting cards, that’s when they started printing them like crazy and it got bigger and bigger. Sure there are a few instances where a card that has a population of 20,000+ becomes in high demand, but it is so few and far between. Collect because you like it, not to get rich. But if you do hit it big, consider yourself lucky, fortunate, and blessed.👍

Great points. I think you hit the nail on the head talking about how most people seem to get into the hobby as a money making venture then burn out. Funny how they only want to profit from it but still call it a “hobby”.. 🤔 Anyway, keep up the great work! I’m always excited to see a new VSS video pop up on my feed.

I remember everything was rare and then eBay came out and then it seemed like the market was flooded. This was like 1995/6, and hearing that the market tanked back then. 🤷Keep on keepin on 🥳👍

Another great video. “Old” guy here (46), even though I think you got about 8 years on me. The key thought to remember in ANY collectibles hobby is that if it is being manufactured as a collectible, then it most likely will have a limited value, or ceiling. That’s not always the case, but in most cases it is. The reason for this is because of the mass production. I collect cards because I like to. I like to read about the players. I like to get their autographs on cards to have a little memento of that player. Paul, you may disagree with me on this, but I think cards will always be worth something. Whether it’s $0.05, $1.00, $10, or $1,000, I think they’ll always have some sort of value.

Alls I know is I pulled an ‘81 Brett from a pack and because he hit .390 the previous year Beckett said it was worth a $1. 43 years later it’s now worth $2z. That’s my rhyme!

It's 40 for a nice devin booker rookie raw but 400 with a sticker auto... with thousands available. Crazy...and this goes for all
A sticker should be treated like ' not affiliated ' like the nuts say "cheap fake" lol

I've been collecting for thirty years and I still am to me the hobby is about pride and collecting what sets you love the most to me it's not so much about the money because if you sell a card that there's only twenty five of or ten of then you haft to think about will you ever see the card again for a chance to replace the one that you sold the hobby is about chance and taking a gamble
