It's hilarious how when Vampire Nighthawk came out, we considered that to be keyword soup, and the card was so crazy it made me make a vampire deck that took me all the way to nationals (back when we had those), basically entirely on the back of that card. Now, I see a card like that just pales in comparison to the sheer amount of WORDS on something like Questing Beast. Crazy times we live in.
@@rowannagy3033 not really, while creatures did get stronger, noncreature spells have gotten wayyy weaker compared to pre-FIRE design also, a lot of rogues decks (including mine) played scavenger, he is lit af (tho later variants went for a more mill-oriented lurrus build, but i saw it as boring) he was fairly hard to remove in post-omnath-ban zendikar rising, especially when backed up with countermagic like drown in the loch
One idea for a video I thought would be interesting. Top 10 cards that were never standard legal. I know that list may not be large but it would be interesting to see what cards from commander sets and side products would make that list.

When they started making black bordered non-reprint sets that aren't legal in Standard that was the start of bringing quasirotation to every formerly non-rotating format
I was today's years old when I found out QB also denies damage prevention... I know it's a ruletext soup but good lord, every time I read it I find new effects! By that logic next week it should do something like draw a card on ETB or destroy artifacts.
I actually was hit with a Deathtouch effect quite recently. Honestly, I think creatures are just weak, because I barely felt a thing. But maybe if I mail lightly played copies of Wurmcoil Engine to Nizzahon he'll do "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)!"

I think it’s neat that in last week’s top 10 over disenchant effects, you covered rec sage and noted that he was in maverick decks (which i just found out about), and now garruk relentless, who was also in maverick decks, makes an appearance
13 PT/MC top 8s would be 26 points, so I’m guessing this was supposed to say 1 GP top 8 for 1 more point to make 27 total. How a card manages way more success in top level events vs grand prixs, I just don’t know.

Gifted aetherborn and vampire of the dire moon effectively made nighthawk obsolete. Nocturnis gives them flying and they are cheaper to play. He will always be in our hearts though.
Was Ice-fang Coatl not considered? I know it doesn't always have deathtouch but I feel like its dominance in Modern and Legacy means it would beat some of these cards
@@Graatand No, its qualified. The issue is when a card is not standard legal it accumalates points much much slower. Basicly there is more standard tournements than there are tournamets of all the non-rotating formats combined.
Questing beast is so laughably OP it makes you wonder if they even have a QA/R+D dept anymore. You'd think someone, somewhere would have said 'Isnt that a bit much for 4 mana?' I know the trolls will be along to tell me how you can just do X or Y to it because it lacks hexproof. Yeah, sure.

Waitaminute, Acidic Slime has 50 points. Why wasn't it on your last top 10 (disenchant)? Were you restricting that list for artifact and enchantment only?
I would think so, Acidic Slime is a lot more than a simple Disenchant effect in most cases since it is almost always a 2 for 1 type of spell that has more flexibility than most Disenchants.

Wizards is blatantly just making mythics much more powerful to get more money and a significant proportion of players actually encourage this because they have a gambling problem and they want to open expensive cards in packs. When they make a bad Mythic you actually see people complaining about the game not being more expensive
Probably very close to zero the issue with using him for death touch tribal is that he assigns a flat poison count per hit and if he's removed from the battlefield and you don't have other infect creatures will then you've gone back to just dealing damage the normal way

Rakdos is definetly not suited for ramp but at CMC6 there is stuff like Primeval Titan or Wurmcoil Engine... In other words, the card is nasty but only in EDH tables.
it has three heads, three keywords, and three extra abilities. okay. vigilance, sure, it looks like it can lash out without lowering its guard, and it's this majestic-in-the-fantasy-sense thing and those things tend to get vigilance. i guess it can be linked to the head it always at ease. haste? that awkward thing? i mean, i guess one of those heads can whip itself at something _really_ fast or something, but that just gives me a goofy mental image. deathtouch ... ? one of those fuzzballs is venomous? i mean, it also has this wicked-looking tail that looks like it absolutely _could_ inject something nasty into you, but what does that leave poor third head geoffery? well, whatever, i guess it's still linked to the design. then there's the intimidate-style effect, which, uh, sure i'd be pretty freaked out if something like that was bobbleheading over towards me, but that's not really tied to a specific head. maybe it's the striking head or something. damage prevention prevention? um. i know magic slaps silly arbitrary abilities on creatures fairly often, but why would you slap _this_ many abilities on this thing if you couldn't even work it into the design. i mean, i guess a decent amount of damage prevention is abstracted as medicine and maybe its tail venom can cause festering wounds that interfere with healing, so whatever. then, like, dealing damage to an extra target? not _two_ extra targets, so all of its heads can get into the fun? i mean i get that that would be ridiculous from a balance perspective, but this thing is already _so_ silly. do you just have a grudge against poor little geoffery, wizards? did he say something to wound your pride, and now you've issued a company blacklist against him? i hope that at least his brothers comfort him as they sit in the library, but considering how much they're living it up with all those abilities you actually gave them, they probably don't even notice poor forsaken geoffery

He does have counters, when he transforms he has loyalty counters equal to the ones he had when he transformed.
