The best
jamez lazarraga I’m
Thanks for the time stamps! 8 minutes into this video and I became a subscriber. Though I really went through the five pentatonic shapes before I stumbled on this video, this video is super helpful in making my jams come to life!!!
This is probably the most useful guitar lesson on the internet. Turbo boosted my fretboard knowledge in just 6 minutes
The amount of work you put into this video's is amazing how do you even do the animation a bro? You're amazing
Jvre Rae thank you! It does take a really long time!!! I appreciate your comment
I just discovered the relationships between shapes, transitions, and the connections between song scales (and chords) and soloing. This lesson really pulled everything together and gave me a solid foundation for practicing. Thank you, Garry, for not hiding precious knowledge behind reinvented titles and advertisement of "magical guitar methods"! I would pay only for this 18 minutes lesson!
Thank you for the comment and I’m happy the lesson helped you!
I just sit and have coffee in the morning and watch and listen hard and learn.
Seeing and getting that sound in my head makes it better / not easy to start to play it.
I really dig the lesson in this format.
I am 61 years old and have been playing guitar off and on since my mid-twenties. I retired a couple of years ago and started playing a lot more. I've gotten better on my own. I guess a good analogy would be if I was traveling down a four-lane highway, I've moved from the slow senior citizen's lane on the far right and am firmly entrenched in the second lane with all the other traffic. I was happy. But then tonight, I stumbled upon this video, and within an hour, I think my guitar soloing skills have moved over to the third lane and are on the verge of busting into the high-occupancy fourth lane. Your theory and teaching skills are off the charts. I can't wait to see your other content. I know this will sound silly, but this video has changed playing for the rest of my life. Thanks!!
You don't understand how powerful this video is, this is crazy, thank you so much
Xgenfreak enjoy! Thanks for watching 🎸
Yes !! absolutely!! I have to agree with u on that
Yeah I have to admit. This was a good one. The first finger/minor pinky/major is gold. Combined with the 3 shapes. Like wow.
Thank you for not assuming that we already know all of this stuff. You really break it down in a way I can understand it.
I’ve struggled with learning the real way to play scales/modes. This makes sense to me from the beginning. This is awesome. You put it in a way I can understand
great to hear!! Thank you!
I just loved this guy and his channel. Everything is illustrated very clearly! Thank you for your wonderful efforts.
Dude, this is awesome. No other guitar teacher on RUclips teaches it like this. The 2.5 shapes + start on pinky/start on index is such a good way to memorise it.
Sadly....it has taken me many years to understand the idea of the pentatonic scale...today THIS VIDEO has connected all my little islands of acquired info throughout 22 years of playing self taught. Off and on that is. But 3 straight years of actually trying to learn what exactly I was doing. 3 years of many paid courses, which were great and mostly finished from start to finish. BUT THIS VIDEO...this free video...was the video I have been searching for to connect everything I learned. So hard to find or search for what you need when you can't really explain it out loud. I shall enroll into your course. Thank you so much for this extremely useful video. Idk how to explain how happy I am right now!!! THANK YOU!
Gary, this lesson is amazing. I listened to it in my way to work and the way you explain the difference scales and how to find them is fantastic. Since I have been plucking at the pentatonic scale for the last couple of years this lesson has explained what I have found. Now I can practice with purpose and understanding! I am sharing your content with everyone I know that is messing with a guitar. Cheers!
I've watch a lot of other music theory and guitar lesson, but this is make more sense than any other teaching. Thank you !!!
Hands down the absolute best instructional video I've ever seen. A lot of others are good but I find myself not learning much by the end of them. Yours is unbelievably educational. I can finally see how to actually use all the shapes together
Finally....I been gradually heading towards this naturally..I've never had any lessons...but these RUclips videos are great they fill in the gaps ...this made it very easy to understand...I'll be hear All day I think ..thanks for the lesson
This is by far the best guitar tutorial I have ever watched. Can't thank you enough.
You, sir, are an amazing teacher! 👏
I've been playing 🎸 for 40 years and never understood how to connect the dots. Now I do!!
You gave the world and me an aha moment! I am so 🙏
I look forward to joining your
patron program one day soon, after I land a new job.
Big thanks!!
Ken
I’m a bass player and I watch a lot of guitar tutorials because you guys explain things way better than bass tutorial guys IMO. This explanation is one of the best I’ve seen. I think the mix of practical and theory was perfect. Some of the things you explained I had seen before but with your explanation I was finally able to internalize them. Thank you.
Finally someone who teaches like how I learn this stuff. THANK YOU
Used this video twice and it's made me feel so much comfortable. Thank you so much!
Love the visuals. It so helps. Love it.
Best of the Best Lesson Pow. Thanks for all. Best lesson of the Web
Unbelievably helpful, there's alot of stuff that isn't helpful but, I found a video that is exactly my speed, many thanks
Amazing! This lesson really helped me to go over a period where i was stuck in my guitar progress. Thank you for that!
This video exceeded my expectations. Exactly was I was looking for a better understanding of Pentatonic escale. WELL DONE!
Thnx for this video, great illustration and explaining the shapes in diffrent scales. Thnx for the exersises in between, helps me a lot.
I thought I found a secret when I started watching others lessons upside down.
So much easier to mimic.
Here you are, animating it for me
POW, BAM, WAM.
So this to me is the best way to learn the music on RUclips. Too many artists spend time explaining what fret and string their fingers are on. If you just have these visual maps up... it makes it so much easier and you spend more time playing the licks.
This is a brilliant lesson ... subject matter, graphics and audio are awesome. Thanks for doing this on behalf of us newbies ....
Just an awesome lesson, it's changed the way I look at the feet board. Cheers!
Great job with this video!! This is like one of rhe best videos I've seen on RUclips for guitar.
i have lots of a-ha moments, its really incredible to see how you explained the logic and i had watched dozens of videos until now. Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much, Just unlocked my playing so much...Love your teaching style...So many years of piddling along, Without getting this lesson. THX AGAIN!
The best guitar lesson on RUclips even though we speak different language I can understand very easily Thank you very much
A big thumb up for this lesson; it has really made me understand very clearly how to navigate across the fretboard using different pentatonic shapes. Grazie Mille! Gaetano
I love how in depth you’ve broke this down.. you are an example of a true teacher. As an avid bass and guitar player I wish I had someone like you to teach me to understand the entire neck
Thank you! Glad it helped!
Thank You! for your time and effort to make this video tutorial. Greatly appreciated it. 👍🤝
Exceptional theory and practice tuition. You the man. Thankyou so much.
Great video. Gives me the information I've been seeking on how to put the forms together. Your explanations opened my eyes.
Woaow Man! Thanks sending you love wherever you ware on earth!
Thanks a lot for your amazing video. It's the best on youtube about pentatonic scales. Watched many of them, this one is easy to understand for the beginners!!!
Thank you very much for this great video. Very clear explanation with easy to understand steps and diagrams.
I freaking love Pow. Great lesson man. I can’t believe you’re giving this away!
Just wow!! LIGHTBULB!!!! Now I get it more than ever. It seems that your amazing video and insight has totally ridded me of the typical scale stress lol. Thank you 🤟😁
Best video on soloing for beginners I’ve ever seen
This is just awesome. One of the best explanations I have ever seen. You made it so easy.
This has made it so much easier to learn the pentatonic scale. Thank you for the great video
Excellent because your approach is to start small and build from there to prevent being overwhelmed, and at least this is a step in the direction of simplification. Thank you.
that's what I'm going for - thanks!
I really liked this video. Yes, I did have a au Haha moment. I now understand and can see the difference from major and minor pentatonic and how to switch between the two while incorporating chords and entering in and out of the scales in different octaves. I now understand what a diatonic scale is and how to turn it into a pentatonic scale by taking out the b and f notes turning in a pentatonic scale only 5 notes. I can wait get home to practice. Thank you very much.
Great job explaining ,making it easy for me to understand you ...thanks
Your teaching is great and the best I have ever watched. Thank you!
Man, thank you so much for your lessons. I grew up learning to play by ear wearing records out. No musical training. I bought books on scales and learned to jam in the pentatonic scales and from learning solos by ear and figuring out what notes fit with what chords, but I never learned the chemistry of it all that would take me where I wanted to go. You are opening that door for me. You have no idea what that means to me. I have been frustrated trying to express myself in my playing, but never had the road map to help me. You are just that for me.. I really really appreciate you.
that's great to hear! Thanks John!!
Great lesson and great channel! Thanks for your work!
Great work seriously !! Tons of work in your videos, I’m learning things and can map the neck a bit better. Many thanks
Hands down GREATEST ! lessons ever , the visuals are absolutely stunning !!!!!!!
thank you Rob!
I love your teaching style so much!! You make it super easy to understand
Wow! You are just a sensational teacher. Second lesson of yours I have followed and learnt so much from your non confusing way of explaining. I am actually making music that sounds good, well to me at least and that's what counts. Yes, pointer and pinky. Thanks.
haha - awesome to hear! Thank you! I posted a follow up lesson like 2 minutes ago here: ruclips.net/video/vdQUlSmDqhs/видео.html
This tutorial is pure magic. THANKS A LOT!
What a beautiful channel.Well done !
I Really enjoyed your video and presentation.
Laying the scales over a real guitar neck and then improvising over a backing track was an excellent idea, this will help so many guitarist on there journey to learn improvisation and jamming over different songs / backing tracks.
I love this video I will share this video with fellow guitarist.
If only I could of had this information 14 years ago.
Keep Rocking 🤟🏻

I have been searching for the right video for so long. Finally I found it..
A very good video... Well illustrated... Excellent.... Can't thank you enough for the hard work....
Everyone wanting to play guitar NEEDS to see this. Many MANY thanks to you
Glad you found it helpful Trevor!
Awesome video,your the man.Thank you!
Great work. Very clearly presented.
Appreciated your very good efforts. Keep it up.
Excellent lesson! Thank you
Yourself and Desri Turner make most other guitar instructors look like they are flailing around in the dark and it's 2009. To play decent guitar is one thing, to play and teach is a different skill set. I learnt the 'Let it be' solo (My first proper solo) recently from your channel, I admit it's easy as solos go but I've already reconstructed parts of it, added extra phrases and more embellishments. Your tutoring is exceptional. You're the SRV of guitar tutors.
Thank you so much!
I'm in! Just suscribed...Great job!!
Awesome lesson and well explained
I've been playing guitar for about 18 years with a 7 year break in the middle. I am self taught so it's a slow journey. The last 3 years I've been trying to utilize RUclips to learn. I have found many good channels for learning but this one is by far the most effective for me. I know not everyone can learn things the same way the next person does. I'm not sure what it is with POWs methods but I find i retain the information a whole lot better than I do with any other channel I've been watching. That said, I'm going to sign up for Patreon as soon as I can. Thanks for all you do here! I can't tell you how happy I am with all your videos!
great to hear! Thank you Doug!
Totally agree. I'm in the same boat. I am all self taught and don't really have the time to commit on a regular basis with in person lessons. I am a POW music Patreon and I can say that it well worth it.
The best animation to learn scales and licks.
Wow this is just great!! the visuals and your explanation are so precise.and when you play across the scales move too.so helpful.thankyou sir and keep it up!!
thank you!
Very Nice!
Congrats!
Good teaching for basic knowledge about guitar note and scaling.. cool.. keep great works man..
Amazing! So, so helpful! Thx.
Best instructional vid I've seen for a long time! Thanks for sharing.
downhill2400 thank you!
This has been so helpful, thanks so much.
Awesome lesson!!
Bro.... Very very useful thank you so much for your valuable video
I haven't played my guitar 20 years ago and I've always memorized all the scales, modes, and chords. I thought: it's very complicated, I don't know the logic of guitar neck.
Simply: You are the best, amazing teacher.
THANKS A LOT
thank you! Glad it's been helpful!!
Excellent tutorial once again my man. These are very helpful. Keep it up. 💪😁👍
This is really, really good. Learning scales really threw me off way back in the day but now it's starting to make sense. I'm very excited to jam and know what I'm doing now haha
Thanks so much this is the most use full video I have ever seen on RUclips
You're welcome!
Espectaculares los vídeos, la didáctica es increible!! Hermosos tiempos para aprender guitarra
I really like your format and graphics.
Your visualizations with the graphics are next level. Had to sign up for the patreon to support.
Thank you!
