Have you been doing it wrong? How to use an oil cleanser correctly.

  • So I've been recommending oil cleansers on my channel since I started 8 months ago. I love them, and I know that they suit about 99% of skins types. But I've been receiving comments from lots of subscribers saying that they get white spots if they use oil based cleansers. Now this might be that their skins just don't suit the product.... it happens....but it also could be because they might be skipping a hugely important step in the oil cleansing process. So just in case, here's a tutorial on how to use an oil cleanser correctly.
    I hope it helps.

    Thank you for this tutorial! It made so much sense when you explained oil attracts oil. I’ve never thought of it like that. Lightbulb moment! Thank you!

    Thank you SO much for sharing this information! I’ve tried to use several oil cleansers, and even with my dry skin, have never liked the oily residue. I was AMAZED at the difference when I used your tip about using water! I will definitely be using this method from now on. Sending you a big “thank you” hug from Kentucky, USA!

    I thank you so much for this video. I just recently started the oil cleansing method on my “aging, acne-prone” skin and I was doing it completely wrong. I loved how you explained bth the how & the why (imo just as important) of this cleansing process. I’m going to try right now! Thanks again.

    Loving your vid's as they are always so informative and really great for someone like me with more mature skin. I also didn't realise that you had to do the extra water stage with oil cleansers but I do double cleanse in the evening. I shall definitely be doing that extra step from now on though. Great vid as usual 😁💟

    I just purchased the bare Minerals Oil Obsessed oil cleaner (180 mls) and it literally is a spa in a bottle. The scent is amazing!! Have used it twice now, no dramatic updates yet...but waiting for another couple of products to be delivered so I can start using them too. At age 60, and living in sunny Florida, I am one with a lot of sun exposure and was never encouraged to use sunscreen. My goal this year is for better self care and finding your channel and watching your videos is helping me move in the right direction. Love your mum and seeing what her routine and products are.

    Good lord . I cant believe you did a video on this. I allways use an oil cleanser. I use sukin. I do exactly what you do. I do not ever get breakouts. It makes your skin lush. If you strip too much oil from your skin sometimes your skin overproduces oil to make oil. Sounds confusing . I do it twice at night. Then i use vitamin c plus rosehip oil.. it has to milky as a cleanser. You read my mind. We think alike. Great video yet again. Ive told my friends to subscribe. You keeping it real. Have a great weekend.

    Gemma, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.....it's amazing. I'd never even thought about using an oil cleanser until I saw your video, but I'm so glad I tried it. My face felt fantastic after the first use, I'm converted and soooo cheap. It doesn't drag the skin at all, which even the lightest creams do slightly......just love it. Xx

    I just love how easy this makes it to remove waterproof mascara! There was certainly a LOT more tugging going on when I used cotton pads, and the next morning there would still be smudges of mascara under my eyes - now everything just slips off.

    Really helpful! I have been using an oil based cleanser to remove my makeup. I thought I followed the directions...In fact, I know I did.(Basically, they said add water to emulsify after massaging in oil...they left out to clean hands first). Your advice to wipe the oil off of the hands, before the emulsification process really makes a lot of sense! That is what I will do, from now on. Also, I am going to use your technique for massaging the oil into the face, especially the eye area. Thank you, so much!

I just received my first oil cleanser by Tula so I am thankful for this video because I am sure I wouldn't have used it correctly. I would like to request a tutorial on the new Bareminerals complexion rescue stick foundation that is about to come out. I have it on an advance order from QVC and it is set to ship February 4. I am 33 in a month, and I use Body Shop camomile cleansing balm. They also have an oil. I have super duper dry skin and I use Tret and this still is great. I don’t, however, wear makeup - just sunscreen. It does work for light makeup, but I haven’t used it with a full face.
    Also, lots of people will use micellar water before or after their oil cleanser, to “mop up” after any remnants. Personally I do not double cleanse, because I barely have anything on my face!

    I just recently found Pampered Wolf and subscribed. I use mostly No7 products. I'm in my 40s and I had never heard of an oil cleanser. I have an oily TZone and decided to try an oil cleanser. The only one I could find is Burt's Bees. I used it for the first time and my skin has NEVER felt so clean and balanced! I am shocked at the difference between this and a water based cleanser. I was going to use my No7 cleanser after the oil, but my skin felt so good, I just went straight to my serums and moisturizers. Thank you for this video!❤

Then I rinse off with warm water, pat my face dry and apply miceller water to my face with a cotton ball. After, I use Neutrogena gel moisturizer. 2 days a week I use an exfoliating toner that contains glycolic and salyclyic acid.

    I've been using a cleansing oil/balm for about four years now and it's really cleaned out my pores. Another lovely cleanser is The Body Shop Cleansing Balm.

      Did u use a water based cleanser after oil cleanser ? Or is oil cleanser enough?

    • @cathieh.7225
      @cathieh.7225 3 года назад

      @@turkicaz5505 I use Bioderma Micellar Water to take off my eye makeup. If I'm not wearing any, it's oil cleanser first and then a water based one right now I'm using a Mary Kay cleanser. As much as I love the Burts Bees one I'm trying to the up everything I have. My favourite oil cleanser is the Body Shop Cleansing Balm, at the moment I'm using Palmers Oil Cleanser because there is not a Body Shop close to me.

    I used this cleansing oil before but I immediately stop as I spotted tiny bumps on my forehead and some on my cheeks. I regretted it and I don't want to use any cleansing oil after this. At first, I thought it was because this product didn't suit my skin but after watching this video, I guess it is because I had done it wrong. Maybe I should try it again in a proper way and see the result soon! Thanks for sharing! 💜

    I'm relatively new to double cleansing but I have so quickly come to enjoy that time to myself in the evenings. I love it! I take the time to do it properly and really enjoy it. It's a lovely little opportunity to indulge in some self care. I went a bit crazy and bought quite a few products but it didn't take me long to discover my favourites. Clinique Take the Day Off is really just a little bit meh! No. 7's version is much nicer and I don't just mean from a price point. I LOVED Liz Earle's product. Very very nice. I agree with you regarding the Simple cleanser but if I could go one step further I think I prefer Super Facialist - this one is Boots and at €9.99c for 200ml it will last me a very long time. My face has never been so pampered in its life!

    I watched this video when it came out but didn’t comment. I bought the Simple oil and Bare Minerals Oil Obsessed. I would never have touched the stuff in the past because I have oily skin and it seemed like a horrible idea, but after hearing your explanation I decided to try it. I love it. I used to use a makeup wipe, foaming fash wash, then micellar water and would still get makeup coming off after all that. With the oil method I get all my foundation and waterproof mascara off with no problem. It’s really starting to help regulate my oils as well. This is a game-changer for me. I can’t thank you enough.

      I too was doing all those extra steps in removing my makeup nearly everyday which made my under eye skin so sensitive and wrinkly. It was only after I watched this video the second time and some others that I decided to try it out. The best decision I made for my skin!!

      Do u only use a oil cleanser at night ? Or double vleansing ?

    • @sarahbailey7862
      @sarahbailey7862 3 года назад +1

      @@turkicaz5505 I use it any time I wash my face. Once in the morning, then once at night to remove makeup. I don't do a double oil cleanse at night simply because I'm too cheap and I feel like 1 wash with the oil does a good job. But it's better to wash with oil twice.

    I don't wear makeup very often but I still use this and it helps with the dry patches I get on my face.
