Free copper gold and silver for the royals. It's good to be the king.

They really pillaged poor little Bogainville. God bless the islanders, I hope they still have their hard earned freedom.

They have kept the mine closed. So while their oppressors haven’t made any money, neither have the natives and surrounding landholders. I guess they are trying to see who can hold out the longest.

I don’t care what anyone says, the people of Papua New Guinea never got anywhere near the amount of profit they should have from this, and other highly profitable business ventures in their country, no, once again its foreign companies and share holders who profited the most, just another example of colonialism and empire building by everyone except the inhabitants of many many regions and countries, and if any peoples have a right to protest about racism, exploitation and plain old “fleecing” by others it’s them. Those who are rioting, looting, and violently “protesting” at the moment, 2020, mid-pandemic, should think about what others have had “stolen” before they get on their high horses, violent protests only strengthen the resolve of governments and administration to crush those protests, they are on a hiding to nothing and will never win.

The poor islanders didn't exactly stump up the investment to open the mine, why should they have the lions share of profits without any monetary risk. Ludicrous assumption

They were forced out under a civil war. They can't be responsible for cleaning it up 35 years later
