- The SECRET to top mixes is having good phase relationships!
Phase is the mother of all things audio.
The moment you have two elements playing back at the same time, there's always a possibility of phase issues.
Assuring that your tracks are in phase is a good start to having a full, rich and PHAT sound.
A simple explication:
If one sound is producing a frequency, and another sound is producing the same they will both be fighting to push the speaker (of your monitors or headphones) out or in.
Having a good phase relationship between those sounds will make them work together as a TEAM. While having a BAD phase relationship will make them fight - one sound is pulling the speaker in while the other is trying to push it out.

Thank you! Your demonstration was by far the best one I found......
Glad it was helpful!
More tools we don't need 🙂have to get it.
This was a great tutorial and now I understand the plugin better. You got a new subscriber for that , thank you.
Another great video, instantly subscribed!
Great info, thanks!
Thanks man, great video, handy plugin.
Glad you liked it!
I'm struggling to get that depth and "radio ready" sound. I'm balancing frequencies with separating, panning, saturation etc etc. What more is important? Maybe lower the faders more before mastering?
Sick video!
Is it worth it to put it on the master bus?
My initial reaction is that probably there is too much information that it wouldn’t be able to do a proper analysis. But there’s only one way to find out, give it a shot and see if it makes it better.
@@mixwithjacob nice! I’m gonna try it for sure on kick and bass like you said; I’m curious to see if it can work on the overall👀
@@ThomasMune be sure to let me know if it does
@@mixwithjacob I’ve just tried with an already mastered track I made: I feel the version with the InPhase more focused and I perceived it faster
No changes in dynamics or RMS (I used the bx_meter)
Definitely gonna use it in my future tracks/masters!
can I align vocals with this plugin? great video 👍
You can align them in time as a whole, but not individually stretching like Vocalign or Revoice! This is more geared towards moving the source in small increments to align the phase.
Hello, I want to bring the blue line on the correlation meter closer to 1 but it gets stuck around 0.52. Why isn't there a stronger correlation?
Correlation checking the whole signal. You can have phase issues in just a part of your freq spectrum
Total beginner here. I feel I have trouble getting a good recording simultaneously recording acoustic guitar and voice. There’s obviously bleed. Could phase be the issue?
Phase could absolutely be an issue! Try flipping the polarity on your vocal microphone to see if one sounds better than the other. When in doubt you can zoom into the waveforms and see if things line up, or use InPhase to line it up manually!
Hi man , I have a part missing in the plug in cloud you please help me ?if want to explain its the part on top where the is the key logo and bus8 all that black part is missing . how I can fix this ??
Are you using pro tools ?
I've got the same problem, I'm on Bitwig. There is no key there either.
This plugin is too confusing to use with all the weird ass routing to buses that has to be done.
I have a question bro. Do I have to check correlation meter each individual instrument channel?'
(I guess its no necessary. but im not sure)
But when I monitoring the tine EP (classic module FM sound), Too low (almost -1) in the correlation meter
Should I fix it up to heading to +1? or Just Do i dont need to care about it?
the PLUS side is IN PHASE, the NEGATIVE SIDE is opposite phase (not good).
@@mixwithjacob thanks your comment. so should i fix it to +1 at each channel?
Care about correlation only if your music will be played back on mono boombox and on phones.
Which it will most of the time
Spoken like a true rookie. Care about correlation if you want your transients to not be smeared, if you don’t want thin kicks and anemic low end, and if you want definition and separation in your mix.
This was a good video! I have to point out though; it's technically "alpha" and "beta" (don't hate me)
Well this is useful for mic takes .... no really on electronic music . No ? or i miss something ?
If you use multiple basses for example, it’s wise to see that your two basses are in phase.
If you "create" electronic music, you're using multiple kick samples. So yes, this is useful. What a dumb question, you should get out of the way of people that are trying to be successful.
