Very cool to learn both something cultural and the language associated with it.
Cảm ơn Annie! Rất hay. A very unique perspective that only a Vietnamese native would really know about.
Yes, we say in UK, that a tip is a 'drink'
“No, no, I don’t want it….just slip it into my side pocket…”
Very useful and interesting! 👏👏👏
I'm trying to learn Northern dialect, but started watching and subscribed to your channel because it's so good.
'Women don't drink coffee' haha.
cảm ơn em rất nhiều.
Excellent content
these customs are gradually dissipating in young generations
.... I love this one 🇻🇳❤️🇻🇳
Cảm ơn cô giáo Annie! Người phụ nữ Việt Nam không uống cà phê? Thật á?
I have been meaning to say this for a while but I haven't gotten around to doing it so here it is: Xin đừng dạy người nước ngoài cách hối lộ!🤣
That same way works in all underdeveloped countries. Corrupted officials are everywhere in every country.
What is important is the actual ratio of those get used to being bribed from all the others.
You have to pay police to police or pay police not to police. But without money you're on the wrong side. And of course women don't drink cofee. lol Thanks!
😂
Cảm ơn em! Khi anh sang Việt Nam gửi em cà phê. Anh cần gấp học tiền Việt.
Thanks for the lessons. So,if gửi means to give in some context, then what is the actual word for “give” ?thanks
There are many words that mean "to give" depending on the situation. The most common and generic ones used in the Saigon dialect are "đưa" or "đưa cho".
Nice channel. Anyway can you help me speak Vietnamese and translate English to Vietnamese? Thank you.
Hi, thank you so much
I am confused about the pronunciation "với"
in Southern accent v can be pronounced as v /v/ or d /j/, depending on speaker's mood (just kidding 😁)
especially với is usually pronounced as dí in Southwestern dialect.
tiền cà phê là tiền trà ở đất nước mình
in the north I hear people say "uống nước" instead of "uống cà phê", do you think that people still understand if I say "uống nước" in the south?
“Uống nước” works too! People will understand as the context is very clear.
@@LearnVietnameseWithAnnie Cảm ơn chị
As someone learning Northern vietnamese it took me a while to figure out that "Thối" has a different meaning in Saigon - I kept asking myself "Why does 'stop being stinky' (khỏi thối)" mean 'Keep the change'"!?!?
What would be the northern way of saying "keep the change"?
@@maigowang IDK I normally just say "không cần tiền lẻ", probably not the best way to say it though
@@JH-ty2cs Thank you!
But then it’s not considered something improper or shameful? Would the public officials admit they take bribes?
Not with the VC. VN flight attendants can even bring in 10 kg illegal powder with no pb.
Chào em,em là giáo viên tiếng việt. Tôi đã học tiếng việt đến RUclips. Em đang sống ở miền nam hay ? I am trying to write in Vietnamese, please correct my spellings and sentence structure if they are not correctly in order or reverse, thanks
Cà phê của mấy anh cảnh sát đắt cắt cổ
omg you bribe the police 😲😲😲😲
Second part, How to not respect the law 😅
In Australia is a criminal offense. 😂
tipping
bribing
There is no such custom in Japan.
日本では、この事例のような習慣はありません。
いやいや全然違います
財閥,政府など裏金がいっぱい
補足しました。
礼金is considered as a kind of robbing by many foreigners, it is one of the most hated Japan's culture
It is a joke to compare VN to Japan. I left my cell phone at a restaurant in Tokyo once. The staff kept it for me until I came back the next day. My sis forgot her cell phone at a restaurant in SG, she went back immediately but the staff said they did not see her phone. When her friend dialed her number, her phone rang !! It was found in a drawer by the cash register. 🙃
This is an interesting story.
this video may be removed/blocked because of the bribe )
Bribery is allowed from top to bottom in VN, from the minute you land and go through customs until the time you leave and pass customs.
Why don't women in Vietnam drink coffee, is it only seen as a male thing? I am assuming that homemade coffee is, but starbucks is not considered coffee in Vietnam. Perhaps more women prefer milk tea
what bribe? it is called a tip okay! It is not corruption, it is called lobbying.
There is a very fine line between tip and bribery in VN.
At first, it's really worrying that people bribe at hospitals. But that's coming from a background where you expect medical staff to be uniquely 'good' people. Which, as I suppose many people know, is not true---no matter which country you're in.
dude, just had to reply on your grammer and choice of wording in that phrase you use. on top of the fact that you used well placed commas.
@@MrMwurm Haha, many thanks. Very kind! I love a good comma or two.
In VN you have to bribe everybody in their public hospitals, from the doc to the nurses.
