I think this is a good example of uncanny valley as well. In some scenes of the trailer the character honestly doesn’t look too bad, but anything aside from a neutral expression looks very off.
i mean did they SAY they were trying to make the character look EXACTLY like her? Because you know Kratos does not look like Christopher Judge. If they got her mainly for her acting abilities, but wanted the character to look different, then I don't really see the issue.
I guess the fact that there's an actual "actress" means that we won't simply be able to create our own characters which kind of sucks as that's a thing I love to do in RPGs. Past that, the main difference that stands out to me from the two images is that the in-game character looks to have lived a hard physically demanding life. Like, if you took the IRL actress and made her into a boxer who just got punched in the face a bunch over the years and who also worked construction outdoors and was thus incredibly more tanned. I can understand why they would go in this direction even if I don't personally agree with it and so I'll just quietly hope that even if we don't get a fully customizable character we at least get to change a few things about them to make them more unique to each person.
@@Void-Knull Never played fable before but apparently they had a system where your appearance changed depending on the moral decisions you made, what stats you chose to improve and the kind of food you ate. Fable doesn't usually have a character creator and the food you eat/weapons you use/etc. can change your build (drastically in the case of Fable 2) so it's really not unusual for that series.

They picked a fairly average model and you expect results that resemble something incredible? The photos are conveniently flattering images of the actress, if you look at other images of her she isn't far off the game character.
Its designed that way its a British fantasy comedy game its British humour. Leave it to the Americans to not only not get the joke but be offended that the main character is not good looking. Its very common in British humour to have either a not good looking or just normal person as a main character I will give you some examples, in book the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy the main character Author Dent is just a normal guy in a dressing gown. Many of the main characters of the Discworld series by the late Terry Pratchett are flawed or not good looking, in fact only a few are stereotypical "heros" and have a reason for been like that rather than standard. Lastly and this is the best example. In the Sci-Fi show red dwarf we got Dave Lister the last human alive, he was created to be an ordinary person, a slob, out of shape, crude, lazy and well as far from the standard good looking action hero type that was in other shows at the time played by Craig Charles. There was an American attempt at the show Dave Lister was played by an American actor called Craig Bierko other than there first name which is weird its the same there are completely different in style. Take a look and it explains everything that is happening with Fable right now.

Damn, the irl actress is pretty, and she doesn't look like 90% of the generic women that appear in video games, they could have left her real appearance and she would have stand out anyway, i don't know why they changed it like that.
And then he immediately changes subject after this clip as he realizes he's swimming in dangerous waters
did the studio gave the modelers low res 2AM reference images?
Asmon always has the best analogies. 😄
Her in game model looks like Freyr from God of War.
I mean they look almost identical
They also did the same thing with Forspoken 's actress
She isnt ugly.
I think this is a good example of uncanny valley as well. In some scenes of the trailer the character honestly doesn’t look too bad, but anything aside from a neutral expression looks very off.
To be fair the first pic is probably all modify
And it is
People would still be mad if they copy her face 1 to 1 cus she ain't Main Protagonist worthy
i mean did they SAY they were trying to make the character look EXACTLY like her? Because you know Kratos does not look like Christopher Judge. If they got her mainly for her acting abilities, but wanted the character to look different, then I don't really see the issue.
Did you see the trailer? No acting necessary it’s all cgi with voice acting that most likely wasn’t the model speaking
@@dannymoontattoosThat trailer was in game imbecile
That's not a fugly stick, that's a continent.
I don't think Fable ever had a character creator did it?
I heard in some other vid about this that fable WILL have a character creator, but this is just the poster / trailer girl default setting
@@Void-Knull Never played fable before but apparently they had a system where your appearance changed depending on the moral decisions you made, what stats you chose to improve and the kind of food you ate. Which honestly sounds kind of cool and it makes sense for the trailer because with that kind of system is going to be really hard to end up with a good looking character 🤣
Fable doesn't usually have a character creator and the food you eat/weapons you use/etc. can change your build (drastically in the case of Fable 2) so it's really not unusual for that series.
Its probably just the default appearance of the main character they are gonna use for marketing and other stuff, like how there is a default male and female Shephard from Mass Effect used for marketing/ game covers etc.
So the game is centered around a medieval fantasy version of england......and people are mad AF that she looks....like a common medieval londoner.
Other Fable games had attracted, this is a abomination.
@samuelsouza3054 you know what the other games had too????? They released years ago. This is still being made. I'm not making "matter of fact" declarations of any product until I get the game in .y hand
@@zacharypickering-rust1889 What does the game being released years ago have any thing to do with the character being ugly? Are you admitting that modern female characters are ugly.
ITS. A. JOKE.
seriously have none of you played fable? Did you not watch the trailer? Hes calling heros beautiful chiselled people then she turns around and looks like that, thats the point, its a joke, a very fable like joke.
Not only that but it is also a mockery of the classic stereotype of the beautiful, spotless and fearless hero of fairy tales, because Fable has always made fun of fairy tales
So fable is body shaming attractive people? This sub culture is such a laughable paradox.
Damn am i the only one that liked the way she looked? Like THIS is fable, old and rustic with poor health care/beauty standards...yet the fan base wants....final fantasy?
Because its a fantasy game to begin whit???
Lmao what a clown opinion 😂😂😂
I'm convinced nepotism played a role in what happened to that jesus painting
Lmfao, gg editors for showing the example given 😄
All the characters in fable games are quirky and unusual looking. I feel the majority of people who are upset about this aren’t actual fans of the original games
I'd sue lmao that's just defamation
They legit beat the game character with an Ugly Stick.
I just want to make my own character
You will, fable you always make your own character. She’s just for the trailer she won’t even be in the story or game at all I can bet money on it fable trailers have always been that way
@@dannymoontattoos you’re probably right but Microsoft has a habit of hiring people who either don’t understand the original material or don’t like it just look at 343
Me personally, I hope that this is just apart of the classic fable attractiveness system and they are showing the lower attractiveness level.
why can't it just be stylistic ? the giant implicitly calls heroes pieces of shit and instead of a handsome shining hero we get an alcohol stealer dirty faced peasant , this is right through the British humor fable would do if you ask me.
WHY DID THEY MAKE HER UGLY????????? She's so fuckin pretty, what a shame. That was the only thing I was ever ACTUALLY upset about was the model was SO fucked up that the model was probably inadvertently taking heat for it, which isn't right.
You know what's the funniest part, I bet all the other characters look just like their face models, just like Aloy in Horizon being the only one ugly while everyone else just looks like their face models.
Are gamers really mad about the mere inclusion of an ugly character? Gamers rise up 🥸
I don't understand why anyone gives a shit about a character not being hot in a trailer? Fable is a game where you can create your own character, so why does it matter???
Xbots will still defend this. They are the biggest hypocrites.🤭
They will criticize Horizon FW but not Fable.
@@ldrockmusic
Exactly. These Xbots are just sick. They are now even defending Microsoft after they said that Xbox series X is their midgen console and no need for a pro version. The Series S is the base console. If this was Sony who said that, they been online bashing them non stop. Hypocrites at best.🤭
That’s not even the same woman 🤣
Dude. They made her ugly on purpose here. How was that not obvious? The dialogue during this scene makes it incredibly obvious they were joking with the characters looks since heroes are meant to be good looking, but in the game she appears not to be so. The model is beautiful of course.
Guess she didn't fit their body positivity standard.
Is it really not conceivable that they did this for other reasons like narrative or game play apart from "WomEn RuiNing VidyA gameS" ?
Most women don't want to play an ugly character and this was most likely a male making the decision
@@inscription8099 Funny how it's literally men complaining in the same way they criticise women not looking up to their standard in real life
oh Asmon be talking about Potato Jesus haha
The fable actress IRL is a solid 4/10 and the in game model is a solid -9/10
They've been doing this for years. I still remember Bioware's violation of Yvonne Strahovski.
The fact that you're STILL complaining about Miranda
Holy shit incels have ridiculously high standards
All according to plan. To normalize the “Troons.”
"It's ma'am!"
Companies keep doing this bs. Seems like they’re the ones who hate women…
They picked a fairly average model and you expect results that resemble something incredible? The photos are conveniently flattering images of the actress, if you look at other images of her she isn't far off the game character.
she doesn't look inbred like the game character does.
And let's not forget that even the old Fables had ugly characters, except Fable 3
And it's amazing that these people didn't understand the trailer and especially the old chapters of Fable
@@Dr_Piscatella The developers jumped ship.
I wonder what the people spamming "still ugly" look like.
Probably better than the in game model
Wow. From 5/10 to 0/10. Dirty indeed...
Today's Fact: The 'Black Dahlia' murder in 1947 involved the gruesome killing of aspiring actress Elizabeth Short, and has remained one of Hollywood's most enduring mysteries.
which movie is this from?
Wow so cool and random and whacky because it's so random
Its like Andromeda all over again.
That is fucked up the girl is pretty cute but nah we need to woke shit up so we gonna make her from 5 to 1
This character is actually hard to look at
the model is beautiful.
too bad the in game art is less sexually appealing than a cactus.
Damn Tate is so right. If that even considered "beautiful", people's standards really have go down in the West
That's actually insulting to the actress. Yikes.
they did the woke approach with her face. If you make her ugly that means you are good people, if you are make her like she really is or more beautiful you are bad person.
What does that have to do with 'woke?'
@@hihihi1q23 representation? make a female character uglier than the real model in order to represent people who are not very represented in games, give more prominence and by doing that feel that you are doing something good for your personal gratification.
intentionally uglifying female characters.
@@hernangodoyyanez8785remember, can't make those ugly feminists on Twitter and in the gaming industry feel like they are the only extraordinarily ugly women in the world!
It’s just a face, man. Medieval aged women aren’t super models.
@@davidlauderdale7147 bro, the real girl model is not a super model, so what they want to achieve making her ugly? It also clearly that beautiful girl are more appealing to people so...
They pretty much did the same thing with Horizon: New Dawn's MC...
This has happened to all woke female characters in recent years. The infamous start was probably with Mass Effect Andromeda with female Ryder got a wacked job 3D model.
See? yet again some devs with their hair in different colours doing "their best" for a project/universe.
To me the two photos of this woman look like different people with different levels of beauty. So I don't know, maybe faces are just hard? Did they really try to make her unattractive because they're woke, or did they just mess up trying to duplicate her face.? Well then again, if they were trying to duplicate her face why are the characters eyebrows clearly closer together than the real person's?
Considering Richard awade is like a 1 to 1 it was on purpose.
This is like with Mass Effect Andromeda with what they did to Sarah Ryder! The actress was beautiful but the devs did her character dirty!
Lily Nichol is her name
If anyone thinks that a straight shot with lighting and a crew looks like real life... it doesn't.
She's actually pretty similar to the game model more than people think.
The game model is about 10% off.
Google her.
Looks about right to me, they edit the fuck out of these headshots
I'm guessing they purposefully uglified her for woke points and made her aware of it because if not I'd be quite insulted if I were her
They did.
It is sexist to have good looking characters in video games apparently.
So they decided to make a ugly character, so that the 3 women who kept bothering them about it would shut up.
Great plan tho, went from 3 people crying to thousands of people complaining instead.
