    I'm with you on not being fond of rails. Especially on carry guns. The whole gun light trend has gotten a bit crazy. One on a home defense gun might be acceptable, but that's about it. I'm also not a fan of red dots for carry. Hard to pick that little dot up when I'm not in a hurry. Much less when I am. They rank up there with lasers in my book of rarely useful. I had high holes for this pistol. Seems even CZ can make a mistake here and there. You are correct, that mag issue is just crazy from a design standpoint. I'm a big fan and owner of many CZs and Dan Wesson. My DW Discussion in .45 is a tack driver.
    Keep up the good videos my friend. Always informative.

      Thank you for watching and adding your thoughts. About once a month the training staff at my local range holds a four-hour Introduction to Red Dot class. By the end of that class, finding the dot is easy and natural. But it certainly is challenging at first.

    I bought one of the first ones with a serial number in the 1200's and had it milled for an RMR. 3 years ago, I wanted the DWX and the DWXc so bad that I couldn't stand it. And like you I bought other 4" pistols in the meantime, WC EDCX9, DW ECP and TCP and when the DWXc finally became available, I hesitated for a second, as I did not need any more 4" long barrel pistols. After that second was over, I ordered the DWXc and it is my favorite by far. I have never had any sort of malfunction and it's a tack driver. Now I want the DWX, but I don't want a rail on it, so unless they come out with a version without a rail, that one is on hold. Great review of the DWX Compact.

    Another excellent review Harley. Have you addressed the “terrible”trigger in the Girsan?
    Also what about inherent accuracy between the different pistols? Like out of a fixture or off sandbags? For that kind of money Id expect 1” at 25 yards. Out of that group if you could only have one which one would it be?

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  6 дней назад

      As always, thank you for watching.
      1) I haven't taken the time to work on the Girsan trigger. I want to like that gun, but there are so many projects that keep me from spending time "gunsmithing" the Girsan.
      2) I rarely shoot from bags or a rest, unless I have difficulty hitting my smaller plates at 50 yards. I'm guessing that the Wilson EDC X9, Kimber KDS9c and Dan Wesson DWX Compact are all capable of 1" at 25 yards - with the right ammo.
      3) I really want to love the DWX Compact. However, after a friend shot it yesterday and found the front sight to again be "self-adjusting" after only two mags of 115gr ammo, I'm afraid I'm going to have to send it in for warranty work. In the mean time, the Kimber fits my hand better than the Wilson, but the Wilson just exudes quality - and oh, that trigger. Decisions, decisions.

    The gun community is funny. All the other RUclipsrs bitched and moaned and whined that the DWX Compact didn't have a rail. 🤣

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  10 дней назад +2

      The gun community is like most others - driven by trends and fads. Right now the trend is for weapon-mounted lights. That's great for law enforcement and military, and for some, it's tacti-cool. But in my not-always-so-humble opinion, there is no reason to hang a light - or anything else - on a carry gun for private citizens, so a rail is just added weight and drag. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    You mentioned that you found postols better than the edc x9. Would you share what they are?

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  9 дней назад

      "Better" is totally subjective. I have a few basic criteria for "better" for me (in order of importance to me): 1) Function/reliability with all ammo; 2) Trigger feel; 3) Accuracy out to 50 yards; 4) How it feels in my hand; 5) How well it conceals; 6) How well it's made, including finish. For me, the Wilson EDC X9 hits all the criteria except #4 - it just feels blocky in my hand compared to the KDS9c and DWX Compact. Both the Kimber KDS9c and the Dan Wesson DWX Compact feel better to me in my hand than the Wilson (though my wife prefers the Wilson). All three guns function flawlessly, have great triggers, are wonderfully accurate (though I'm still testing the DWX Compact), and conceal well. The Wilson is tops in fit and finish, with the DWX right behind. The Kimber is a little lacking in that category, but not by much. So, in the things that are important to me, it looks like the new DWX Compact will top my list (once I get the self-adjusting front sight issue fixed), with the Kimber right behind, while my beautiful EDC X9 will sit in the safe. "Your mileage may vary".

    Slow down! When you give us a peek of another gun as an example, please let us have a few seconds to drool. Where did you get that brown grip for the KDS9C?

      I agree that I need to slow down some and I recognize that when I am editing that video. It's a bad habit I haven't worked hard enough to break. Thanks for pointing that out. As to the KDS9c grip, I ordered those off the Kimber website.

    I wonder how this compares to the Staccato C. I've been saving my pennies for the Staccato but I might divert towards this if it feels and shoots better for me.
    Thanks for sharing this with us.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  10 дней назад +2

      I like Staccato 2011 pistols and my daily carry gun is a Staccato C DUO (the single-stack model, not the newest C double-stack). However, the blocky grip on Staccato double-stack pistols, including the newest edition of the "C", isn't as ergonomic or as concealable as the CZ-style grip on the DWX, or even the Kimber KDS9c. I have a Staccato C2 and I've shot the CS, but neither feels as good in my hand or conceals as well as the DWX.
