- As we continue our journey to attempt to use the DWX Compact in the IDPA Compact Carry Pistol class I'll show you the good, the bad and the ugly of what I've had to endure to get aftermarket parts and info about this awesome pistol. IT WASN'T EASY !!!!
Literally drooling here....sexy gun!
I just googled "what sights does Dan Wesson DWX compact use?" and the answer that came up was Novak cut.
I am interested in changing the front and rear sights myself.
Dawson has them. @@williamrandolph1566
So what I am hearing is that you are mildly disappointed that a _carry_ pistol is not a _competition_ pistol. In turn, you have optimized the DWX Compact for competition which is your intended purpose.
Does that sound like an accurate assessment?
You sir, might be the only person that is displeased with the DWX. Others, despite its minor intricacies and/or lack of features, have nothing but high praise for both the full size and compact. While it is good to hear that some have found fault. It feels like those "faults" are more personal preference rather than poor design.
Nevertheless, I appreciate your candid approach to such a unique pistol. Your super sleuthing will, no doubt, help others along the way.
Stay classy my friend.
Yes. I was searching for a 1911 style pistol for CCP in IDPA and the choices were few. However, it has worked out pretty good so far. Another update is coming!
Thanks for the in-depth analysis of the DWX compact. I’m not a match shooter, I’m just holding off until the optic cut models come out. (Subd)
CZ 75 compact grips do fit
Sorta. With modifications.
So you’ll disassemble and tune your mainspring but won’t mod grip panels?
The LoK palm swell brass or aluminum for cz compact fit absolutely perfectly…and brass adds nice weight to it…fits better then stock ones
Lots of good info! Thanks for sharing!
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. I was looking at this for a carry gun. Are you still planning on doing an update as I saw you mention last week?
Hey brother thank you for doing the leg work! How did you go about getting the dwx logo red on the slide ?? Love it
Thank you for the great info
Did you paint the DWX on the slide red or did it come like that? Mine is not red but I have the version with rail optic ready.
Thanks for the video!
I put a 17 pound hammer spring in mine. I also cut 1 coil off the hammer spring. I played with the sear spring and I got my trigger down to right at 2 pound trigger pull
have you tried using the 16rd mags with the standard non- metal baseplate (p01 example) to see if it fills that gap in once the 16rd mag is in the DWXc?
I use the old school rubber base plate from the older CZ P01. I wish I could send a photo.
Thanks for being the IDPA pioneer on this gun.
I was surprised the 16 rd mag fit in the box.
Once you overcome your training issues, I don't know of another gun that would exceed the accuracy and trigger you've created with this in the CCP division.
Do the current grips affect your windage? If not, why change them.
I had the same problem with my Dan Wesson ECP when I wanted a fiber/tritium front sight. My local gunsmith custom fit a Trucks sight for $25 ! I will change my rear sight with a Novak titanium rear sight for a24/7 sight for my ECP. DW sure doesn't make anything easy
Anyone know of any holster companies that make one for the DWX compact?
Tucker gunleather
The thin mags will warp after continuous dropping on hard surfaces…then will cause malfunctions
Thank you for your detailed journey. After watching this I’m gonna skip the DWX compact and stick with my shadow 2 compact
Could have called CZ custom or Cajun Gun works and saved you a lot of time
He did call CZ Custom
Im disappointed with my DWX compact w/Rail! …. It slides okay, but the slide feels loose, & wiggles {Sideways & up & down} on the front OUT OF THE BOX 🤬. My P07 is tighter then this POS ! The DWX trigger is NOT worth $2,000.00, ESPECIALLY for Concealed carry…. I Waited so long & then spent money, only now im regretting it so much that i dont even want to Shoot it! I called Dan Wesson & they say its normal as long as the Barrel Locks up with the Slide ! 😡. BTW remember its brand New & the bottom of the Barrel has gouges & pitting, that the DLC finish clearly did not take too! There No way I could have seen that before buying it! I THOUGHT DAN WESSON WAS SUPPOSED TO STAND FOR QUALITY, & I THOUGHT i was getting a HIGH END FIREARM!…. Clearly i wasted my money
lmao your able to do more research about this then ameriglow, dawson, and dan wesson! wild
Doesn’t look like DW put enough effort behind this project, which is a shame.I like the DWX series and want to see how it evolves.
For a $2k gun you shouldn’t have to tune it…. Plus where is the Optic cut?
He is tuning a carry gun for competition. So what’s your point again?
He bought 1 without the optic cut, would it still fit in his box if he were to put an optic on it?
Seems like it would defeat the purpose of his build!
Good to know, Thanks
