I can see how filming a video with Jenna might be weird and have weird energy but I honestly think if y’all just did a podcast and had a serious conversation about like being mature adults on RUclips and life and stuff it would be cool. I think all of you have good insight and wisdom

the portions of this podcast where cristine addressed her general anxieties, with socializing and how that impacts her filming, as well as setting a clear timeline for her "breakdown" in a saf collab in relation to threadbanger's illness really meant a lot to me. thank you so much for your honesty and being so candid. until now im not sure i ever knew that rob being incredibly sick was happening parallel to you stepping back from filming and the holo taco launch date. so again thank you for being candid with us.

@@ca-ke9493 I used to be very awkward and afraid of people and criticism of any kind. I pushed on and now I work as a teacher and interact with students, parents and colleagues all the time. But after work I always need some time to unwind and relax.
I tell all my students that it is OK to be quiet or socially awkward. I say that it is the whole class´ responsibility to make everyone comfortable giving a presentation in front of the class. So, the one who is doing the talking is the one giving feedback to his/her "audience". The audience does to critique the presentation.

Their friendship with threadbanger is so genuine and sweet, you can tell how much they care. They even flew in from Canada when Rob was in the hospital (they mentioned in a video I promise I'm not creepy lol)

Christine and Ben were hanging out with J&J when they were in LA for Saf & Tyler's wedding and they both love each others' channels. I wonder if maybe this is one of those situations they were talking about where the friendship is there but the onscreen chemistry just didn't work? Idk. I imagine it would be pretty nerve-wracking knowing you're going to be on Jenna's channel because it's so huge!

I've found that adult friendship often means accepting different levels of interaction from people with different communication styles or needs.
@rando yeah sometimes it's tough when you want more from a friend who doesn't have more but I've been on both sides and tried to learn to be understanding about it

In college/college age so many friendships are because you go out to parties, or live near each other and are trying to kill time on a budget.
As an adult you have to make time around your responsibilities, people are in relationships, people have kids.

I loved the part where Cristine explains she records several hours of footage , because its mainly her redoing sentences. That made me feel sooo much better about my work! Im a trainer and ive been recording audio for training tutorials. The amount of times i redo audio and splice audio is insane. I just want it to sound perfect. Ive always compared my work to youtubers videos and how they edit. So i just thought oh i suck! Im too anxious and clearly all youtubers can do a video without redoing parts over and over . From a fellow anxious canadian, thank you Ben and Cristine !!
It's like how I write - which is why I hate writing.
When I had to write papers, I'd end up staring at a screen then a flood of words come out. But before that is was all a bunch of redos in my head - over and over. I'd be in brain lock until I could accept something.
I still hated everything I wrote, even though I got good grades for my Masters degree. Every single one of them were dozens of re-writes of every paragraph before the keyboard was even touched.

Cristine replied to a Jefree Star tweet and used the word snowflake not knowing the political association of the word about 4 years ago and still to this day, racism pops up anytime you search simply on Google. People speculate that she backs Jefree and is racist etc. She cleared the air about it in this podcast.

@@ceciliatapioca I'm not an expert on this, but I know that it has been used to describe people deemed "overly sensitive" the people who use it often mock those that use trigger warnings, proper pronouns, demand safe spaces and things of that nature. Cristine mentions that the term snowflake was tied to the alt right movement. The alt right are basically viewed as a bunch of racist neo nazis.

Honestly, personally, I'm not that into RUclips collabs. Every once in a while is okay, particularly when it is just two friends hanging out. But I'm not into channels that collab all the time with different people and it's clearly a business transaction.
It's different when people have channels that are based on interviews, etc. Those are interesting, but watching people pretending to like each other is.... Uncomfortable.
That’s why it’s fun to watch Cristine and Safiya. You can tell that the four of them genuinely like hanging out together.
Yes, I really like the dream smp like regular videos because they are all such good friends and it’s so genuine and funny to watch.
You can tell there's a genuine friendship between the Simply's and Safiya and Tyler because they literally went to Safiya and Tyler's wedding. They even got to hang out with Jenna and Julien lol (also threadbanger but I forgot to type that initially. Also wow this has a lot of likes)

Connie Ha also the fact that she remembered Safiya mentioning slightly about a sentimental gift she was in awe of & Cristine buying a 2k+ version of it for her when Safiya never said “i want one” but “i love the concept of it” shows Cristine really cares for her & listens to everything she says & is there for her.
They also went and stayed with Corinne Leigh, a friend and fellow RUclipsr, when "Threadbanger" creator Rob Czar died and was resuscitated . They seem to be really good and caring people.

Ravenclaw Love hi! I see you like Harry Potter. I love Harry Potter too. I also love the concept of spirit animal but now I call it Patronus. I recently found out that spirit animals are actually really respected and looked at in high regard for some cultures so it can be seen a little bit like mocking. I’m sure that is not your intent and it wasn’t mine either. I just learned it so I thought I’d share. Obviously I’m not trying to tell you what to do but since you seem to love harry Potter calling it a Patronus could make sense too. 🙂

aw, you can tell Cristine was on the verge of tears at the end. One of my favorite things about this podcast and her channel is they don't try and pretend that their lives are perfect. They are willing to broadcast their down points which makes it so much more relatable and I think they should do more of it.
Shane Dawson said something when he was on Jenna & Julien's podcast years ago that really stuck with me about RUclips collabs which was that oftentimes when two RUclipsrs are collabing and they're laughing in a video there is no joke that they're laughing at and its just them laughing at something 'random'
I think it just depends on the person and who they are collaborating with.

And then I think she broke up with or cheated on him, could be wrong. And she was more or less open about it but she played the victim a lot which is why people really turned against her.
A lot of people witch hunted her ex fiance and his wife, also.
It was really sad. Things didn't have to be like that. She was so creative and energetic and there was a lot happening behind the scenes.

That wasn't great for her image.
Let's be honest, the best thing that happened from your collabs is your friendship with Rob and Corinne. I love them and I love you and Ben. Together, you guys all give off real friendship goals.

Then again when you're feeling and are overwhelmed you don't always know at the moment where its coming from or even how to deal with it therefore why share. I love the response about Jenna. I love when anxiety recognizes anxiety, because Jenna and Julien have spoken about how she has a hard time saying no to things. That's really kind to recognize and not take advantage of that.
I honestly think the podcast is the perfect collaboration for J&J. Even their podcast has a similar vibe when they're not playing silly games lmao, but yall could do that too! Its a format that they are also comfortable and experienced with.

i actually got curious about the hate cristine gets for people's assumption of her being friends with jeffree. so i searched 'cristine rotenberg reddit', literally the first search result is 'simply nailogical being problematic?' on a r/beautyguruchatter subreddit, and omg literally the assumptions people have for cristine and ben are so infuriating, i actually got heated for a bit😅

Sharvari Kulkarni yeah. As far as I can tell, Cristine is an amazing, kind person. Jeffree is scandalous, problematic, hateful, quick to conclusions, and he says things without considering the impact. He send messages to James calling him a pedophile before there was any proof. He and Shane are also huge superpowers on RUclips, yet they consistently put down smaller channels. Jeffree is connected to many other problematic people, his customer service for his brand is terrible, and he is generally known as a nasty person to collaborate with. I seriously don’t see how these wonderful people are friends with him, as they are so well spoken and kind, but, if it works for her, that’s fine. I personally am strongly against a collaboration between Cristine and jeffree, because that’s just asking for drama.

She tweeted him once like 4 years ago, so everyone has misconstrued that has her being friendly with him and supporting him.

I remember being a bit confused about period products, then went down a DIY rabbit hole that led me to that timmy tomato or something, and then eventually to threadbanger. I found you through that holo car and was very, very confused. I didn't even know what polish mountain was. My first impression was that you were some weird lady, who is super obsessed with nail polish. Then polish and holo sucked me in and made me realise my closeted holosexuality.
It's cute how she blushes, I don't know if it is the lack of makeup or not being too comfortable bringing other people's names into the conversation, but it is just cute.

When I found out I had a progressive terminal disease I called a friend I hadn't talked to in a year, because life, and the next day she knocked on my door - 900km through the country.
That doesn't mean that my friends that I talk to daily or more regularly aren't great as well, but I needed HER in that moment and I knew I could count on her.
This podcast was really interesting! It answered questions I had for ages and things I never thought of.
I enjoy the ease and chemistry the two develop in this podcast. It becomes more and more natural and relaxed. 🤗💚

I would really love an episode about the question: "What is your road not traveled?" Meaning what were key points in your life where you could have done completely different? We did this at work one time and some said they, as a kid, wanted to be a trash collector. They planned their whole life to do this and then suddenly switched a year after school to become a analyst for a really large organization. It was really interesting to hear their stories or big decisions that they made, that you wouldn't normally hear.
What about a collab with jenna and julien on your podcasts? Think that could be interesting now that you can't have guests on. Think that would be funny. You could play a game or something that they sometimes do for their podcast if you're worried about what to do. idk just a thought I had while you were talking about collabing (or not collabing) with them :)

But I also understand what Ben said in the podcast that Jenna Marbles really doesn't do much collabs (and neither does Cristine compared to many other RUclipsrs).
At the end of it all, I would, obviously, be very happy if they collabed at some point, but if they decide not to, I'm absolutely fine with that as well and respect their decision.💖💖

I'm still seriously affected by Threadbanger, I've been watching them from their first videos. I cried for 2 weeks. Every time they go through spells of not posting I get so scared.
I remember that gut wrenching feeling that lingered for days after learning about Robb and Corrine's nightmare. And I'm not personal friends with them! It was jarring. Something like that would fuck anyone up. I was going through some terrible shit at that time too. My pug died, my boyfriend was diagnosed with prostate cancer, my parents got in a car accident, all in one week. 2019 can suck it... 2020 too.
I always love when I see other RUclipsrs randomly shouting out/fanning over Cristine or Ben. Jenna and her ramen nails using her HoloTaco one coat black, NerdeCrafter making a sculpture, or even Mia Maples randomly mentioning Cristine.
I especially love it when it's completely random. Like when Hyram watched a Safiya video and was just like, "Also she's friends with Cristine and we stan Cristine on this channel." Or when MatPat and Steph from Game Theory mentioned in a livestream how they like to just sit on the couch and watch simplynailogical videos all the time. Or when Evan and Katelyn livestreamed the game House Flippers and at one point while painting they were like, "wait no, you're supposed to put on a peel-off base coat first. Then you can add a Holo Taco."

I was today year's old when I learned that the people they apologize to at the end weren't actually scheduled guests that were unable to be featured that day.
Honestly, one of my favorite things about both of you is that you don't live in LA. For me it makes you seem more like real people instead of a part of society that's "off limits" so to speak from the average person. It's also helpful that you still have regular jobs, but the place you live really hits home for me more.
When they talked about Rob omggg I remember the feeling of watching the threadbanger video for very first time, it hit like a train 😭😭 I feel so much respect for Corinne ❤️ I'm so glad that you guys have such a genuine friendship

Here's the thing... if you do another "Teach me how to beauty" tour, you should pick some mid-sized but growing beauty folks to visit with. You might really enjoy doing videos with other people who still have day jobs and quirky personalities. You've got kind of a wry, dry, dark sense of humor that's part of what makes you and your content special. Look at Teresa is Dead, Smokey Glow, Abby Williamson, Nisipisa. They're all friends who've come up together at the same time, and they're all making beauty content that's incredibly different in tone, creative process and editing from each other. Or, alternatively, you could try to work with some drag queens who are the masters of illusion. I think it would be a mistake to limit yourself to doing a tour with "beauty gurus."
Based on personalities that would match well, Kathleen Lights is SO AMAZING, Rachel Loves (Canadian and also friends with Tati so that's a plus), I'd love to see Jackie Aina. Also I'd stay away from the toxic ones like Nikita, Brett, Laura, Patrick etc. Even Manny was a poor choice imo.
I genuinely enjoyed you working with Mykie, I've always hoped for another collaboration at some point in the future.
