Saw MF's band live multiple times, and have a picture with MF, myself, and my friend. Sidenote, MF also doubled on baritone horn, valve Tromebone, and multiple other instruments.

I have a similar experience. I just wonder in concert how it felt going from a trumpet mouth piece to a valve trombone mouth piece.... won't that screw up his embouchure? I don't know how he did it. And he did the circular breathing at a couple concerts..... I tried it but I don't know how he could play in the upper register and still circular breathe????

You are right! And I think Live at Jimmy's MF 4 and 5.... starts with Blue Birdland if I remember correctly. Did he end his concerts with Blue Birdland too???? If I think back....... Do you remember that too? Thank you for watching and your comments.

It's MF Horn 2, not MF 2, but I'm sure you know that. He used to open with Give It One but at a breakneck speed that sounded really hard to play. I guess it was a good warm up lol.

You are right.... I should have said MF Horn 2..... Yes Give It One was so fast...... I remember trying to play that opening run of Give It One.....I think it started on e flat....... and wow when they opened and played it so fast.... it was a wall of brass if you were right in the pathway of Maynard's trumpet bell...... loved going to his concerts! Thank you for watching and the comment!
