As an Xbox gamer I have always said that its ok for every company to have their in house 1st party titles as exclusives, that is ok. But when companies start paying for 3rd party exclusivity like a greedy dog. Sooner or later it's going to bite you in the ass. This is why many people told Sony gamers who were mocking Microsoft for supposedly not having games that Microsoft was going to have the last laugh. Microsoft in many occasions try to strike deals with Sony, but Sony kept saying no. So, Microsoft went to Nintendo and Nintendo said yes. And let me just say this. If Sega would ever decided to return to the console market. I tell you they would join Microsoft on a contract. Sony would be facing the world alone. Sooner or later what goes up, must come down. People have been catching on to Sony scamms and how they treat their gamers. If Sony doesn't stop with the greediness, they will be the ones making Pachinko machines.
@@JuanDiaz-jo1rw I wonder if spending all that money on third party deals by Sony also contributed to them not being able to spend on acquisitions as well since they are throwing so much money at those third-party deals. It doesn’t even show Stalker 2 for 2024 or Planet of Lana that was an Xbox exclusive from 2023. They purposely buff PS side and leave out games to make Xbox look weaker. Yeah, the media always buff up PlayStation more, play do si do around PS negative news and coddle them. The media and fans got PS believing they are a strong force when they aren't.

Yep, which is why Microsoft finally woke up and decided to acquire entire publishers. To ensure it had content for its platform that Sony could no longer money hat from them.
Those Sony lists are overly generous. Some games in the 2024 bracket haven't come out or were also released on PC so calling it an "exclusive" from the fanboys view is wrong. There are a lot of problems with this list it was definitely made by a hyper Playstation Fanboy who has no logic
Yes and it deliberately omits many of Xbox's exclusives. Lots of indie games hit Xbox and Game Pass exclusively every year, and this image omits almost every single one of those games.
After the remedial measures imposed by the CMA during the ABK merger Xbox might not be able to outright purchase Ubisoft. Possibly they could buy a lot of their shares.
The chair of the cma was just pushed out likely because he was focused on stuff like this and not breaking actual monopolies, gas water etc so those rules could probably get rolled back.
Microsoft cannot purchase Ubisoft for a period of 15 years. As far as I know, the CMA has never gone back to change the provisions in a prior decision. But besides that, I think it would be irresponsible to purchase Ubisoft, as Ubisoft's main problem is the amount of employees they have. Ubisoft has around 20,000 employees, spread across a dozen different countries. That's significantly more employees than ABK has.
I believe that Sony thought they could push Xbox out of the industry at the start of the current generation. Early in the generation, I felt that Sony was irresponsibly over-spending on 3rd party deals. The only way it made sense to me was if they anticipated that their main competitor would leave the market. The amount of deals has been excessive. And notice how for 2025, they have yet to announce this year's third-party timed exclusives. Keep in mind that these deals are usually struck a year or two in advance. Meaning any timed exclusives they have for 2025 were negotiated in 2023 or 2024. Every year prior, by January of the next year, we already knew of at least a couple of third party exclusives. But none have been announced for this year. Why is that? Have the third party deals dried up or has Sony pivoted to a new strategy? I'd love to hear the internal meetings happening at PlayStation.
I have several questions. Like what is the difference between Death Stranding and Hell Divers. Both are made by third party studios that Playstation doesn't own. Next Predators and Spider-Man, we see that theses are IPs that Playstation pays to use so is that worth it. Last, we can use Austin Studios for this. Should Playstation be making their own stuidos, who mainly do single player games, do live service games. People were up in arms when Austin, who makes single player games, had to do live service. Like how WB made Rocksteady do a live service game.
Third Party and Second Party are all about how the money is used. A third party game is a game that doesn't need Sony to be made but Sony pays the developer/publisher to only make it for the Playstation platform. A second party game is a game that would not exist without Sony *BUT* Sony does not own the developers. So Sony acts as the publisher of an independent studio with certain deals in place. Death Stranding and Helldivers 2 are actually both second party games. A better comparison would be Final Fantasy before the recent philosophy change from SE and Helldivers 2. SquareEnix does not need Sony to make a Final Fantasy game. But they took money to stay exclusively to Playstation. A strategy that is no longer working.
@@breezy3176 why I am asking that is because Playstation doesn't own the IP but just the publishing rights? It has been mentioned the reason why there is no remake is because of FromSoftware doesn't have the time or may not want it to be lock down to one console. It seems like something like this happen with Death Stranding. So could this happen with Helldivers as well?
It's your money, spending it how you want to. If Sony had spent all those "money hatting" dollars on picking up a Square, Bethesda, Capcom or Ubisoft they would own the IP which would play well with their cross media plans. Ubisoft are in trouble now, Bethesda were in trouble when Xbox acquired them, Square are not in a good place, Capcom were in serious trouble before Monster Hunter World became a hit. Being a Japanese company gives Sony a huge advantage Microsoft don't have when acquiring Japanese developers. Imagine what Sony could have done if they owned the Square IP, movies, anime, merchandize on top of the games. But no, money hatting on IP that's not yours, buying bungie to compete with Activision and then cancelling like 12 games. What's the cost of all that ridiculousness? $79 billion, probably not but i bet it wouldn't be too far of the cost of 2 publishers the size of Square. What's popular isn't always what's right.
Sony doesn't have the cash to be able to leverage a Japanese or otherwise developer. They should have been investing in their own ip and they are now at a stage where their investments in 1st party are largely wasted.
@ Yeah, that was then, this is now, they are losing money, the platform isn't growing and they cannot afford to borrow because they lost money on so many projects. They aint got it like that.
I wonder why Microsoft didn't do this sooner honestly. Not having a first party stable really was their downfall their first three console generations. They money hatted games instead like Sony is doing. The biggest problem with that is once those publishers no longer want to make their games exclusive to your console, you're empty handed. Microsoft ran into this issue last generation and now Sony is dealing with it as well. Meanwhile their first party studios are still trying to finish games. This is how Microsoft ended up with dry spells at the end of the 360 generation and the Xbox One Generation. Sony money hatted to try to put Xbox out of business. Microsoft acquired publishers to keep Sony from money hatting big games off Xbox. Luckily for Sony, Microsoft is willing to share.
One can maybe also compare this to the total number of games which came out in each year. And then one will probably see that all these exclusive games also compete against many other games which were available on both platforms. And I believe that this is one of the weaknesses of Sony's money hatting strategy, that the attraction they want to achieve towards their own platform doesn't work, or at least loses its efficiency. If Black Myth Wukong not available, one can play the upcoming Wuchang: Fallen Feathers or Khazan, The First Berserker games instead (both are Soulslike games). At the time when Astrobot came out, I played Epic Mickey Rebrushed on the Xbox. Not quite the same, but also a very nice remake of the original 3D platformer. And, well, it looks like a Stellar Blade-like game comes out today on all platforms (Disorder game). Side note: the list of games, at least on the Xbox side, is not fully correct on the poster shown. For example in 2024: there was also Stalker 2 and MS Flight Simulator. Avowed will come out this year.
Looking at the chart, it reminds me of the spongebob episode where Spongebob was Neptune in a cookout. While Neptune was making ALL the krabby Patty's with his magic, spongebob was taking his time and make 1 krabby patty. Now reason i bring that up is because Playstation is spending all this money just to lock or keep games off of xbox but as we can tell it hasn't been working out with Playstation in the long run. Like they're throwing their money on "remastering" or "remaking" last generation games instead of bringing back their old classic titles like killzone, sly cooper, jak and dexter, and so on.
That image is a bit deceiving because it's not comparing apples to apples. You can't just focus on 1st party games from Xbox and lump in 3rd party money hatted timed exclusives for PS. Realistically, Xbox money hatted a tonne of games for Game Pass. They were released first on Game Pass and stayed exclusive to Xbox for a while. Why aren't those included? Why isn't STALKER 2 on that list? It's exclusively on Xbox at the moment. Why is Avowed in 2024? There is no much wrong with that image it makes my brain hurt.
They did include The Gunk for Xbox, so they aren't excluding 3rd Party exclusives. It just seems to be a really incomplete, low-effort list; possibly made from memory.
Y’all gotta remember that these publishers are really looking for money right now, that’s why we have talks of game prices going up. Switch 2 is gonna be another potential money making platform for them
I honestly believe that even if Sony did things right & invested where they should've to gain all the profits for reinvestment they probably still would only end up being a drop in the bucket compared to the vast amounts of resources available to Xbox because of Microsoft so I don't know if they could even compete.
The only one studio that i would love to see Microsoft purchase is Namco. I would love to see a remake of Ridge Racer Type 4. And one special purchase i would love to see Microsoft do, is to buy the character of Spawn.
MoneyHatting, really does hurt developers more than they realize or rather than we realize. As I said on another video advertisement is very rarely run a second time and after that first time the hype tends to die down quickly. Add in people looking up videos or spoiling themselves and barely a month later most of the hype is gone 3 months 6 months it'll barely move a needle. A year (Sony's typical time exclusive contract) mostly wont help bump up number at that point. Unless a lot of people buy it initally(I doubt it) it hurts more than helps. Not to mention building and cultivating a fanbase. Something Sega has been good at doing and Square has squandered for Sony and you get a mess
PS did invest money in their first party studios, to make live service games, which is why they acquired Bungie. PS also had to burn money on third party exclusives so that their customers felt special and had something to play. Now PayPonies are gonna buy every game Xbox provides because they're starved for first party games. 🐎💵💰🍽️
Sony strategy is so outdated that when they realize that it would be too late. They mocked Xbox for not having games... Years later they were crying in court about COD. So much money throw out the window just for their logo shown first and temporary exclusivity. Xbox at this point is making PS users to pay full price so xbox users can enjoy game pass day one for a subscription. They are paying the xbox users part.
You can never trust a list made by a ps fan. They list every single small thing that could count as an exclusive while for xbox they only list 1st party bigger titles.
That infograohic is very damning. It now makes sense why it's hard to sell moneyhatted games on Playstation. Games get flooded into the ecosystem, whose got time to play all those games? 12 months in a year. No need to moneyhat all those games!! The sheer greed. 😂😂😂 If the studio decided to make it exclusive to you for whatever reason, that's cool. But don't just go throwing money around just to say you got exclusives. Then no one buys them.
Microsoft's approach is why rent the milk when you can just buy the cow? Why they didn't take this approach from the start is baffling, because they probably could have spent PlayStation out of business.
Sony spends exclusivity on 3rd party games instead of focusing on IPs is what I’ve seen at this point Sony should probably just go from developer to publisher or maybe I’m not using the right words honestly not sure I care ever since they started censoring games with anime aesthetics I lost interest in Sony for the most part I never or rarely buy games on Sony anymore.
Man purposely left out third party exclusives on Xbox🤣 where's Palworld? Stalker 2? Dungeons of Hintenburg? Those are the few I remember from last year in game pass, there will also be games that weren't in game pass. Would be nice if someone did an accurate list cause it did look interesting.
Palworld wasn't immediately out on playstation because they don't allow early access and Xbox does. Stalker 2 was the Devs own decision because Microsoft helped them relocate because of the war. Not sure Dungeons of Hinterburg but you can do your own research on those as you clearly didn't on the other examples. Xbox doesn't moneyhat as confirmed by Phil previously.
Where’s the medium in 2020? Why are they putting out death stranding in 2021 because they released a directors cut like it’s a brand new game? This is purposefully falsifying the data.
@@TheBean87 these dudes will list DLC as full releases, they they did it with TLOU 2 remastered, that wasn't a remaster it was just a next gen update with little DLC.

That’s someone else’s list on twitter, so that pretty much sums up why you’re confused they’d purposely left out Xbox games(and padded PlayStations lists)
You’re essentially implying that Sony money hatted every single game, including Black Myth Wukong. And this isn’t accurate. Have you ever considered that the developers might not have wanted to release their games on Xbox? You can’t hold Sony accountable for Microsoft’s failures. Instead, blame them.
The developers advertised their game as coming to Xbox and then all of a sudden, right before launch, they removed all Xbox branding from their game. Now that we know Sony as the kings of the money-hat, my immediate suspicion is them. I'm not drawing any conclusions, but it would be naive of anyone to think the devs just out of nowhere, decided otherwise to leave money on the table.
@ I’ve just noticed that you’re an Xbox channel, so I suppose that explains your biased views. I also assume that Microsoft putting its games on PlayStation is Sony’s fault, and has nothing to do with the Xbox hardware business collapsing. 🤷🏽♂️
Black myth Wukong has a PC port. Xbox has a storefront which serves both however you can publish a game on one or the other, PC or Console if you so wish. There's a PC port of the game on steam. Game Science could have chosen to publish their game on the Xbox PC storefront. But they haven't. They even kept it from the Xbox PC store app. So in my view there is no reason to do this, so it's a moneyhat. Lastly, Game Science made 20 million plus bags of gold right after launch. They say they haven't the experience to complete the Xbox ports (although the PC port exists which uses direct X and the Series Consoles use direct X) and it will take them 10 years to learn. That's pure deflection. Why haven't they hired anyone in all this time. Why have they had time to learn how to optimise for the PS5 Pro so quickly. There's no excuse to be honest.
Just saw a trailer for Phantom Blade 0. I'll admit it looks good, and I'll definitely nab it on PC. But this is what Sony needs to lean into instead of a bunch of live service crap.

About that list ...it needs the day one Game Pass drops on there for Xbox...that's where we play
PS did invest money in their first party studios, to make live service games, which is why they acquired Bungie. PS also had to burn money on third party exclusives so that their customers felt special and had something to play. Now PayPonies are gonna buy every game Xbox provides because they're starved for first party games. 🐎💵💰🍽️
you need a proper infograph to look at the one sent to you is heavily skewed
😂😂😂
If the studio decided to make it exclusive to you for whatever reason, that's cool. But don't just go throwing money around just to say you got exclusives. Then no one buys them.
All ps4 games in 2020 from playstation nothing on the level of hellblade 2 from sony
@fvjtfjnx6535 I wasn't referring to money hat games, I was just talking about the list in general in terms of console exclusivity.
@@fvjtfjnx6535 oh I just realised you're assuming I'm a pony🤣 I'm actually an Xbox fan.
30 percent from third party microtranaction and ps plus is sony money maker
Xbox console exclusives haven't existed for years. Looks like whoever put that together it only backfired. Make it again but only include 1st party. The Horizon game still being made will either be cancelled or it will flop.
Alot where money laundring on PlayStation to make it temporary exclusive
Imagine paying 900 for a console and there is no real new games im happy i stuck to the slim and dit not upgrade i get a upgrade on the xbox tho and cant wait for switch 2
I want to see this list but keeping it 💯
Mark down which ones are first party, which ones are remasters and which ones are money hatted timed exclusives, also dont be a piss baby and purposely take out games that have been timed exclusived for xbox dawg have some integrity
Your list is off. Is it finished? Cause your 2024 list is wrong for Xbox
That’s someone else’s list on twitter, so that pretty much sums up why you’re confused they’d purposely left out Xbox games(and padded PlayStations lists)
Lul talking out of my ass here, Microsoft should buy Sega. So the Dreamcast could come full circle. 😅
More money hats?
@AlvinWillistonDavis No, games that are actual games, if they're smart they'll do day and date pc
Xbox hasn’t had a good year since 360 era! Ps has one the hearts of gamers what they do with that is on them
