Ex owner here. Great bike, top speed 145mph stock, but at those speeds it's pulling your head off. Great handling to be honest, awesome power, and quick. My only drawback was rear tyres got eaten because of the torque if you ride it hard. I was going through 2 rears a year and one front, 12,000 miles roughly give or take. Had mine for 2 years, and switched to a Ninja 636.
Enjoyed the review. I didn't realize these were SACS engines because the polished fins and cam cover ends make it look different to the Bandit. One of the best engine designs ever.
The missus kicked off big time when I sold mine. Best pillion ride ever, pulls like a train even two up. I had the FE with the Akrapovic end can. Still miss it!
Suzuki's nearly always have great gearboxes. 250kg wet weight isn't all that heavy, especially for 1400cc. It is a formula that has worked for Suzuki since the late seventies. UJM with a big under stressed motor in a simple and comfortable chassis. I hope you enjoy it if you do get one.
At 67 years of age I have had many bikes, currently have a black 2008 GSX 1400, best bike I have had ever, get a Haynes manual and only go to dealer for tyres, do the maintenance yourself.
This bike was my first ever road bike, and after 10 more modern bikes under my belt, it’s still my favourite . I prefer the k1 as it has a slightly different paint scheme with white wheels. Unfortunately the tanks seem to rust quite badly inside over time, so prone to injector issues but easily solved with a bit of work .
Check out the Suzuki GSX 1340 B-King! I ride a 2009 model daily and love it. The GSX 1400 definitely looks sharper, but the B-King's extra power (185 bhp vs. 105 bhp) is a major plus for me.
The Bandit 1250 was a tank but these things are whales. Terrible handling and so heavy they are a liability. Look nice though! I ended up buying a GSXR-1000 instead and LOVED it!!
If you bought a gsxr then you were simply looking at the wrong bike mate. These are muscle bikes for cruising not ragging round bends. People who own these have a bike for life.
The old muscle bikes still had proper pillion seats and fixings for a rack / top box. Actuall real world useable bikes that still look right.
I have a k2 GSX 14...yoshi cams,free flowing exhaust,radial brakes etc...love it.....the best bike i have ever owned!!!

And you never showed the 11 litre under seat space! I’m on my 3rd gsx 1400,about 140,000 miles so far, superb.
