@@agni1962 the only compromise I can think of for the Omen 15 is the limit with the 1660ti card. The 2060 version is already available in some markets and in the USA end of July, the issue though being it's an 80w one.

Ultimately, when I made this decision, there was less information. The A15 was preorder available with a 2 week eta (ended up being a month), while the G5 was "not this quarter" TBD. The data said a 1660 Ti runs cooler than a 5600M. I could get $0.03 Conductonaut, Kryonaut & fujipoly upgrades covered by warranty with the Asus TUF A15. I know in this video you mention as 5600M close to 1660Ti, but what I read had it as better than. I suspected that 4800H + 5600M was going to have a higher price tag, than the 4800H + 1660 Ti. Now with experience, the pros of the A15 are the 90 WHr battery, being able to just select integrated or dedicated graphics, $999 vs $1199, being able to undervolt the gpu, cooler to the touch, , 64GB RAM ceiling and the speakers. I do slightly prefer the A15 keyboard, in spite of it being more clicky, but don't like the delete key position. As for the G5, I prefer Dell customer service, its design, sd card, screen, & performance. Biggest con of either one - Windows 10. Both needed a fresh install, for different reasons.
I got the Dell G5 SE 4800H option. As I use I mainly for editing photos the superior screen gamut and the full size sd card slot makes the choice easy. You you do need to update the AMD software so the computer can use freesync. I am hoping we will receive even more performance over coming months when they fine tune the shift feature.
Thanks for the great video as always! Getting the Tuf A15 with the 2060 and 4800H on sale for $850 was a great deal even with the heating. BTW if you can deal with the screen and heat compromises activating the hidden power management menu and switching the Power Performance Boost mode to Efficient Aggressive is one way of getting a great fix for nervous laptop owners. I lost on average 1.5 frames while reducing max heat from 95.5 c to 77.4 c on average. For instance F1 2019 at turbo with out of the box settings running the in game bench mark at ultra - 82 min, 102 avg. , 127 with a max temp of 94.7 c. With the Efficient Aggressive setting with all other settings the same - 81 min, 101 , 124 with max temp of 78.9 c. This was the worst run for Efficient Aggressive against the best run for stock but all runs were basically margin of error. However the Efficient Aggressive setting is not magic the hit comes to the CPU being severely limited in its boosting capabilities while letting the GPU run free. Cinebench 15 for instance saw a reduction in score from stock turbo of 1870 to 1445 in Efficient Aggressive and in Time Spy the score went from stock 6375 with graphic - 6099 cpu - 8577 to Efficient Aggressive Time Spy score of 6215 with graphic - 6059 and cpu - 7283 (worst run). I would imagine the same can be done with the Dell G5 series so its good for all budget laptop owners with a 4800H that can spare some CPU power to get a little peace of mind instead of a space heater while not messing with broken warranties or modding.
Oliver Brooks-Stephenson nice, what games do you play? I’m looking into getting a laptop but most of them skimp on the trackpads and I use photoshop in bed quite often and my MacBook Pro trackpad lets me do that.

I'm actually torn between laptops right now, especially since prices have been down on a lot of laptops, razer blade 15 (2019) and the msi gs65 stealth (2019) are under 1400, along with the y540 and tuf laptops, and the gl65 has a rtx 2070 and is also under 1400 on amazon
Good video my dude. Awesome comparisons as always, but is the amd combo better than the 2060 GTX as a value perspective? I'm quite on the fence about it, since amd tends to be quite cheaper than nvidia's stuff...
Just got the A15, loving it, Dealt with the heating issues by disabling "agressive boost" for the cpu which limits it to 2.9ghz when playing a heavier game for longer, saves the sketchyness of ryzen controller
Great video. AMD's website shows the g5 15 se and the TUF A15 coming with the new 4900H cpu, do you know if they are delaying this release or any ideas when they plan to release these?
Thanks for the comparison. I recently purchased an Asus Tuf. It hadn't been on my radar, but I found the 2060 version on sale for $899 USD. I do have a question about adding a second ssd as I am close to filling up the 512 gb ssd that it came with in less than a month. I had an unused 2TB hhd so installed that. @@benjyyeoh276 i dont really have any advice but if you can get the se and its in your price rang id say get it . i havent had a single problem with mine
I just using G5 SE 4600h and this is what i think about. I'm a professional designer with a tight budget this year. I pick this guy like a week ago and testing for its performance. My result is... first, cooling pad is a must. If you're going to rendering or playing games. Second, this laptop is so heavy compare of my previous laptop + tablet surface 5th gen. But when you're done with your work and playing games, this thing is a beast. Just remember to always set your RX5600M on while playing games, cause in small cases they pick your integrated gpu to run the game and cause a lag issue.
Do not under any circumstances buy the G5 SE, it is plagued with issues, most prominent being failures of the mosfets a Or IC's on the board some of them literally exploding as it happened to mine just a few days ago , I suggest before you buy any laptop along with looking at reviews look to online tech forums and reddits on the laptop model, reddit will usually give you an indication of what issues are most common on what laptops
Same here, my se is absolute trash, crashes are out of control, the amd software deadass deleted itself after a system restore and now dell doesnt even have what i need to download anywhere online, forums are all but useless, lots of games dont even recognize the card, not to mention dell almost certainly just said fuck us and gave up support on the card entirely. Fuck dell. Fuck the g5. Fuck amd. Fuck the 5600m. End of story. Ive never had a more infuriating time using a laptop.
I would highly recommend repasting on the Dell G5's. Engineer repasted my Dell G5 i7 10750h RTX 2070MQ and I am getting 10-20 degrees lower temps after this! Turbo Boost gives me 80-95 degrees and turbo boost off 70-80 degrees whilst gaming with about a 10fps advantage whilst using turbo boost.
I want to buy a new laptop. Should I buy this dell g5 SE amd ryzen 5 hexacore ? My main concern is about heating issue.I am very scared of it. What should I buy then? Or Is this ok?
In India Asus tuf A17 (1tb hdd+256ssd,ryzen 5 4600h ,8 gb ram and 4 gb GTX 1650ti,120hz) And Dell g5 se( 512 SSD(no upgrade options),8gb ram ,6gb of 5600M,120hz) are at same price which one can I choose pls reply back soon...?
Been in a thread on reddit with sirsquishy67 and he's noticed that the G5 seems to kick the CPU into a mad power mode where it draws over 80W when the 5600M is in use, not a sensor reading wrong as he confirmed it with a watt meter. I was only able to confirm with HWInfo as I dont have a watt meter here, but running an all core load didn't break 90C until I started a game, the moment the game fired up to the menu screen the CPU package power jumped from around 40W to over 100W and CPU temp immediately started to climb. Sirsquishy67 thinks its a firmware bug and to be honest I'm inclined to believe him, I would blame smartshift but the CPU was already at 100% before opening a game and if anything I would have expected the CPU to back off on power when the GPU started using some. Still not entirely sure how the CPU could be using 100W but that was what HWInfo was reporting.
Dell has good support, esp. if you spring for their pro support with accidental coverage. In my mind, that tips the scale for Dell. I know many gaming laptops aren't built for longevity (they easily overheat, easily age, battery can cause issues, become obsolete, etc.) and are replaced quickly. That having been said, I tend to keep my laptops for at least 3 years before upgrading, and in when doing so Dell has come through when issues popped up. I get that many aren't willing to shell out to get the warranty or keep their laptop for very long.
Hey, I was wondering if you're going to cover the HP Omen 15 2020 as I'm considering it as well as these two for my daily driver. It's more experience but I'm wondering how you think it compares.

Is there a good place to get battery life specs on these machines? How long they can last on Netflix, RUclips, web browsing, basic Microsoft Office functions...etc.?
The Dell with a 120hz is usually $2000AU and the Asus laptop is $1750AU on Amazon. I think they may be newer models but with the same specs except for the Dell G5 Screen. What's a better buy?

@Heavy Potato I probably would liquid metal it eventually. However, with everything being online for the foreseeable future, I won't be needing a good laptop anytime soon. If I was going back to work/school this fall, that is what I'd pick, mostly for the screen for photo editing. I'd definitely get a cooling pad for home use.
I don't game that often, and rarely play AAA titles, but I want decent power when I do play, but again, the screen is more important between the two here.

Dude please make a best budget gaming laptop list man just use your old data and make a list please, love your videos btw so wanan know it opinion
just look around on ebay and amazon, youll find some great deals

@@phantomberzerk9486 then try ebay, used might be cheaper then, i bought a razerblade 15 with a 1070 there for around $990 usd, and the rrp for that model was around 3k usd brand new, the laptop worked fine and way better spec and build quality than any other laptop for that price, infact if you have less money to spend ($600 or even like $500, $400) you can find a laptop 5x better in terms of performance and spec to some of the new laptops for those prices, and i doubt the laptop prices will be double on ebay too.

Hey Jarrod.. can you review Hp Omen15? I really want to see your review of it.. have a good day~
I'm actually torn between laptops right now, especially since prices have been down on a lot of laptops, razer blade 15 (2019) and the msi gs65 stealth (2019) are under 1400, along with the y540 and tuf laptops, and the gl65 has a rtx 2070 and is also under 1400 on amazon
Definitely gonna go with the *Dell G5 SE*
Just because of the Value in relationship to the Price
yeah, with that price ,people in Asian especially india will go crazy for it for sure
And later they will cry due to heating issue. Dell vs omen .... nightmare. Better just like desktop we could have build your own laptop ....

How did you did that. Can you explain me in details. Your insights will be very helpful. Thanks
nice job! hoping for a review on lenovo legion 5 soon
great video ... i felt good with my purchase of my A15 {but @11m.07s ... was that CS: GIR?? } Zim?
Great video. AMD's website shows the g5 15 se and the TUF A15 coming with the new 4900H cpu, do you know if they are delaying this release or any ideas when they plan to release these?
Amazing review as always. It is an absolute pleasure watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
How long do you think they would retain their performance? I want one to last me through college.
However, would there be any problems if I were to add a second 512 gb m.2 ssd, since I've already added the hdd?
I just bought the dell g5 se I love it so far
Bro which variant did you buy? what is the battery backup
It's the exact same as the one in the video.
hey how is your Dell G5 SE do far ? I'm planning to get myself a budget gaming laptop and hope to get some advice
@@benjyyeoh276 im on it right now i love it has been great

Very informative video mate......your way of presentation is vey easy to get....waiting for the HP Omen 2020(AMD) vs Legion 5 (AMD) now.....
The G5 doesn't run its fans at max. To get more FPS you need to manually crank the fans on the G5
Tis got to be one of the most detailed comparisons ive ever seen
I just using G5 SE 4600h and this is what i think about. I'm a professional designer with a tight budget this year. I pick this guy like a week ago and testing for its performance. My result is... first, cooling pad is a must. If you're going to rendering or playing games. Second, this laptop is so heavy compare of my previous laptop + tablet surface 5th gen. But when you're done with your work and playing games, this thing is a beast. Just remember to always set your RX5600M on while playing games, cause in small cases they pick your integrated gpu to run the game and cause a lag issue.
Dell G5 and thanks so much, amazing comparison video, very detailed !
Wich do you prefer ,legion 5 or asus tuf 15 1650??,please reply i want to buy these laptop next month... please
u made my day i was just looking for such video
Do not under any circumstances buy the G5 SE, it is plagued with issues, most prominent being failures of the mosfets a
Or IC's on the board some of them literally exploding as it happened to mine just a few days ago , I suggest before you buy any laptop along with looking at reviews look to online tech forums and reddits on the laptop model, reddit will usually give you an indication of what issues are most common on what laptops
Ive never had a more infuriating time using a laptop.
i have always watch your videos now wondered i have hit the button yet subbed kudos bro
I'm new to laptops and pcs. Can someone tell me what exactly repasting is?
@@melvincotto6402 putting paste for the cpu(?) if im not wrong
Is that for both the CPU and gpu
@@danthelambboy Yes
The temps are now even less using a laptop cooling pad
Thanks Jarrod , can you do a review of the best gaming laptop quality/price 2020? after so many, i don´t know which
Hey Jarrod, please do a comparison video on Acer predator helios 300 (2020) vs 2019 model.
I am torn because of the option for the 90whr battery option. Thoughts?
I want to buy a new laptop. Should I buy this dell g5 SE amd ryzen 5 hexacore ? My main concern is about heating issue.I am very scared of it. What should I buy then? Or Is this ok?
In India Asus tuf A17 (1tb hdd+256ssd,ryzen 5 4600h ,8 gb ram and 4 gb GTX 1650ti,120hz) And Dell g5 se( 512 SSD(no upgrade options),8gb ram ,6gb of 5600M,120hz) are at same price which one can I choose pls reply back soon...?
I really wish Jarrod can teach how to undervolt a AMD CPU using Ryzen Master.
That’s not supported for AMD mobile.
I don't think the software does undervolting, just power limit modification.
Now that makes me think twice before buying that laptop...😓
@@shuflie I wonder if the APU on the ryzen 7 4800h is kicking in?
Jarrod, I'm currently planning to buy the Asus ROG Strix G531G-TAL236T, can you tell me wether it'll be a good value for the price ?
I don't understand. There is so many bad reviews about the a15 cooling yet it seems to be doing better than at least some of the competition..
Nice video man. I have a question...
Which one will you advise me to go for in HP Omen 17 & Dell G5 15 5590? (latest models) I will love to see you give me a pretty good breakdown with convictions please.
Hey there!
Could you make a video on maintenance of Gaming Laptops? Like, when should we clean them and at what times should we use them while charging (gaming or normal tasks). I will be buying an Acer Nitro 5 soon.
Have a good day. Love your videos :-)
Is there a good place to get battery life specs on these machines? How long they can last on Netflix, RUclips, web browsing, basic Microsoft Office functions...etc.?
Dude, when will u be reviewing the legion 7i and HP omen 15. (preferably the 2070 super models)
Yes, just no certain date for when they will turn up.
Give him some time to enjoy 😁
Hey jarrod, really liked this one. Can you please compare A15 with HP Omen 15 2020 Ryzen variants. It Could help me in making a decision.
Hey jarrod , what do you think about msi bravo 15? Will you reviewed it soon?

The Dell with a 120hz is usually $2000AU and the Asus laptop is $1750AU on Amazon. I think they may be newer models but with the same specs except for the Dell G5 Screen. What's a better buy?
I just bought an Eluktronics mech G3. I saw your video on performance which makes me believe I made a good purchase lol. Thanks for your videos Jarrod 😎
Juice WRLD Vault i have a dell G3 and i have hinge issues. I bought that laptop in 2020 beginning. Good luck with hinge nightmares

What fans you recommend for 15.6 inch Jarrod ? I'm getting the Intel version 2070 max q of the Dell g5 5500 are you reviewing it, thank you for what you do as always.
legion 5 with the 120hz screen, I know it gets criticized a lot but that's the only display option I can get. I want to know Jarrod's opinion on it.
@Jaime Beauchamp It's not the refresh rate that's the problem, It's the color accuracy only reaching 45% NSTC and a a max of 254 nits.
Don't bother bro... It's awsm and some guys keep freaking commenting that doesn't matter and even i have 65% sRGB and 100% sRGB display but I don't see much of a difference.....Juat enjoy your Laptop 🙂

Should i go for the entry level G5 Se
Or now a days is there anything better within the same range?

Nice vid. I'm not looking for a laptop cause I have a good pc (2060 R5 2600) however it was quite interesting for me. Thanks for your work and effort you do to make your vids quality better. Have a nice day/night.
Hey Jarrod
Can u do a review on the MSI Bravo 17?
Thanks in advance
hey mate got a question for you if u dont mind
so im willing to buy my first laptop and i came across these 2 options wich one do u recommend
first the omen 15 i5 9300h + gtx 1660 ti
second the msi gf65 i5 9300h + rtx 2060
i kow the rtx is better and has ray tracing but im worried about the cpu bottlenecking
tnx in advance
I"d get the 4600h G5 with the 144hz screen option. That seems good to me.
What cooler did you use & what was the impact on gaming performance with the lower GPU temps?
Best review n compare channel. Thanks for good videos.
Jarrod would you prefer either of these two over the lenovo ideapad gaming 3?
Dude really love your works.👍♥️

I'd choose the A15, the G5 have an horrible design for me. Also hight temps will cut the chip's life time
Well too bad, overall G5 was better and A15 was not recommended. 😎
