Yea, that's really weird to me. I think it was just an excuse to not have to deal with them. I've seen this in other hot car deaths, they'll say "oh, I just didn't want to bother them, they were sleeping". Uh, it's 100 degrees outside, you'd have to be brain dead to even consider that. He just left them outside so they didn't interrupt him playing his precious video games 🙄

To me, it comes across like the father felt he had hit the jackpot marrying a doctor but was only going through the motions of having a family, and not actually wanting one/kids. yeah, based on mother’s repeated instruction, upgrade to 1st degree, and “59 times” I’m thinking this must have been an intentional routine that went wrong. Could have been just for the summer-like “oh he picked us up from camp and always left any of us who fell asleep in the car.” And MAYBE they could get by in an air-conditioned garage, but the Peloton showed up-so he continued the behavior with the car in the driveway. Reminds me of the wife in the Ross/Cooper Harris case, comforting him after he left their baby to die in the hot car. First thing she said when she found out her son never got dropped off at daycare was that her husband must have left him in the car! That’s what made me most sick to my stomach was the whole arguing about the shower. I’m not a parent but if I was or even if it was anyone I love…. Idgaf about a shower, I want to be with my loved one….and it was just so entitled it made me sick. You’re the reason your daughter died in the hot car and you are arguing about taking a shower? I know!! If my daughter had died in a hot car due to my negligence I would want to die, too. I would want the police to shoot me or something. The mom knew he was negligent and reckless with the children more than once, and continued to leave them with him. As an educated woman, she should’ve known better. As an anesthesiologist she had enough money and sense to leave her kids somewhere safe. I’d be damned if I left my babies in a man’s care that sped over 120 miles per hour, drunk, with them in the car. There are several text messages and they are outrageous. She will have to live with what happened which I guess is punishment enough. That ooor little girl and her sisters who have had their sister taken from them in such an awful manner.

To me, it comes across like the father felt he had hit the jackpot marrying a doctor but was only going through the motions of having a family, and not actually wanting one/kids. With the mother, it's like we're all supposed to be convinced she's a great mother and responsible adult because she's a doctor. I don't buy it. Like you said - something is off.

His oldest daughter from the other relationship is 16yrs old, and she said he left her for hours without a food in a car, and she has diabetes type 1. I think she said dcf was involved in a point. I believe we will hear a lot from him until the end of his trial.

yeah, based on mother’s repeated instruction, upgrade to 1st degree, and “59 times” I’m thinking this must have been an intentional routine that went wrong. Could have been just for the summer-like “oh he picked us up from camp and always left any of us who fell asleep in the car.” And MAYBE they could get by in an air-conditioned garage, but the Peloton showed up-so he continued the behavior with the car in the driveway. Hugely unnecessary risk-but he had programmed himself to be okay with it and became distracted one way or another.

I grew up around alcoholics and a lot of them can’t take any accountability for their actions. Plus most long term alcoholics have some type of brain damage or alcoholic dementia, so it is very likely that he did forget about his own daughter.

Exactly. My 70yo mother wanted me to leave her in the car while I ran in the store. She could open and close the door but was not able to walk very far. I told her no ma'am. You're coming inside with me. She thought getting her wheelchair out and getting her settled was a burden. Losing my mom because she was left in a car would have been the burden. She's in heaven now and I miss all our outings. 😢

I doubt he wanted the child to die. Let’s not be dramatic in trying to make a point. What we have here is someone careless, selfish and incapable of accepting responsibility, hence why he lies. But lying doesn’t mean premeditated. It just means you’re not willing to accept accountability for the consequences of one’s actions.
Which is no shock, he’s a man child, he wanted to play his video game but didn’t want to stop what he was doing to be a responsible adult. In his mind he probably was like “oh she’ll be fine, I’ll keep the AC on,” and since he’s gotten away with it so many times before, he underestimated the risks. Also, it just goes to show how wasteful he is, his wife is the breadwinner, yet he just thinks leaving a car on for hours on end is no big deal since he’s not the one paying for gas.

Reminds me of the wife in the Ross/Cooper Harris case, comforting him after he left their baby to die in the hot car. First thing she said when she found out her son never got dropped off at daycare was that her husband must have left him in the car! Read recent article. He had a terrible history of how he treated all his children. Including his older daughter by a former wife. The neighborhood talked about it. He has various addictions. Strange why his wife put up with it. The kids should have been removed. No one was surprised this happened.
