Based on your video ,I did a quick search of JFG s track record on line .Everything from ThumperTalk ,Reddit,Facebook,RUclips and everthing in between . Yikes .. Quality and a solid reputation does not seem to be hallmarks of this company . Good on you for taking the time to give an honest up close look at this particular product and its failings .Hopefully it'll save others from a similar fate .Cheers to you good sir.
I've used handguards from JFG, they do the job. A few trees and fence posts have left their mark on them. But yeah, hardware is super cheap, the aluminum is soft, wouldn't trust it for critical parts. *edit- I tend to use IMS shift levers, they do cost more but like ASV levers they just work better/feel nicer.
I have the same bike, same year and same color. I bought the jfg lever right after I saw your video installing it and same thing just happened to me 3 days ago. Had to ride back all the way to my buddies house in 3rd gear. Back to my original shift lever. 😅
Another reminder that I need to make one of your tool kits. Of course I probably won't until I need it and don't have it🤣 Nice work swapping over the spring tip. At least something was salvageable 🤘
@@linksgarage1985 🤣 That's right! They don't even come with a factory tool kit, because you never need one🤣 I've got an '05 DRZ400SM w/40K miles and Chinese bikes, so less confident there🙃
I bent mine looping it but I kept it cuz it’s still useable I ride with it on long rides just in case but I put a moose racing lever on mine and have had no issues
Off topic, but I see you switched out mirrors. I was getting ready to switch out my OEM mirrors for something else. I’m guessing you see better with your current set up?
Man, that's some pisspoor mechanical engineering 😂 Glad you had the original one with you! (Must have been cheaper to make that insert sleeve. Regardless that they never tested it for failure! ) Great video and explanation!
@@phistry810 fuck that. I’d rock a traditional style shifter with straight splines. This design is garbage. We’re taking a proven design and modifying it for no reason. I wouldn’t do it brother.
Thank goddd I watched this videooo, I have the exact same shift lever as the one you had, I'm gonna have to make sure mine is alright I don't want that happening for sure
Have had numerous problems with JFG products!! Starter cover, front sprocket guard, and more!! Glad I caught this.
For sure!

For sure. We have to document it all. Not just the good stuff. Just a poor design. Pitiful. Thanks for watching as always. I appreciate it.

That 1911 is gorgeous and shiny I like it
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching!
Are your foot pegs JFG/Chinese as well?
I believe they are nice CNC. Zero complaints. Still love those pegs.
Have you ever done a tool kit video if not highly interested in what you keep on you when riding.
I got you covered. ruclips.net/video/xbINaLNmGqw/видео.html
You should do a video on your tool kit you take with you

Tried to warn you!!!! Glad all is well.
Have you had any issues with the jfg foot brake? I just ordered both and came across your video afterwards 😅

Decent for a back up. But I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
And moose makes great stuff!
How bout NICECNC? Any issues with their products?
How much space do you between the new shifter and the case cover? Does it rub at all when you shift?
glad you had your oem with you brother
Me 2! I would have Macgyvered it somehow. I never give up. 💪🏼
ur tusk lever fit on no problem? i feel like mine is a bit too small. it doesnt slide on like the JFG shifter does
Mine fit with zero issues.

Great video and explanation!
Thank you! Yea, bullshit design man. Live and learn.
So do you think the JFG one with the set screw in it would hold up fine?

How's the JFG brake pedal holding up?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Double cursing! Damn that sucks. I put one on my rm250 taking it off now haha
Double cursing for sure!
what tool kit is that?
I made it. But the bag came with my Klim Nacsac back pack.
Here you go. ruclips.net/video/xbINaLNmGqw/видео.html
Wow lol that happen to me last night and on first gear.
I bought a metal one is better!
Yep. It sucks!
Too bad a spare tire won't fit in your kit :P
It will. A patch and a plug. Ha!
I'm laughing at you, not with you. Wait a minute, reverse that. Man do I hate shit parts.
Yep. Sucks. Other parts I have actually look nice. The solid CNCd parts. This was just a piss poor design.
