Dude! This same thing happened to my 2019 450 XC-F. I watched this video and fixed myself. Much thanks! Seems like Hann worked on more than one bike that day.
Living dangerously unbolting small parts with a pan full of oil under the bike. When I do that, I always end up dropping (at least) one bolt in the pan and have to go fish it out. I guess that's why you are a pro :-)
Helllllllya brother. I've been thinking my 450sxf was going to need to take the motor out. Just checked this out and had it fixed in half an hour. Thank you.
Awesome video man! I have a 2020 zx6r that will only shift down into first and won't go back into neutral unless you kill then bike. you explained so thoroughly and I'm hoping my bike has the same problem. THANKS
Just came across you today bud. Very very good. I'm thinking about starting a page myself fixing, reviewing, giving tips etc but a looong way off your standard.
Shoot man thanks so much. Mine went off a ledge the other day. Used this video 100%. I broke a peg off the shift star. The shift actuator was kinda bridging the peg broke so I coasted home. Rough day on the bike man haha. The wreck is on my most recent video. Suuuucked super bad.
@@highlandcycles that's what I've learned over the yrs man I've been thru the gauntlet on these things. Love it tho. Thanks for the daily shlogs brotha your a animal.
Hi awesome video, hope you can help I have recently rebuilt a 88kx80 on the bench it had all gears (casing off) now back together in the bike I only have 1st neural & 2nd but when selecting those gears the selector is stiff up and down once in gear the selector dose not spring back up? Could you shed some light on my issue? Thanks
Hi I love your video! Actually I have a similar problem with FS 450 ‘16: the gear that was loose to you is completely ruined (consumed) on mine. This consume is reallly atypical since there’s rolling friction on it. Do you have any guess? 😢 Ah bike has only 20h
Stuck in gear usually comes from a broken shift fork, broken idle gear that caused the soft detention not to reset properly. Or the case broke off with the shift rod dowel where it sets into. Not usually only a KTM but some Suzuki and Honda.
Great video, thanks very much. Had the same problem with my sons 2018 450sxf. Unfortunately went into neautral over a jump and he is now nursing a broken femur. The bolt was almost completely out and gear spindle had slipped forward and off the spring loaded mechanism.
I got into an accident with my KX 450 so the shifter bent and it's stuck in second gear so I think the shifter shaft is bent on mine I'm just trying to figure out how to fix that hopefully this helps
My tc 250 had this happen and it was the shift drum was loose and it was 3/4 to a full turn out. It sucks because i got knocked out and it happened on the face of a jump. I broke some ribs and my collar bone got jacked up.
This is super awesome thanks so much for sharing this. I have pretty much the exact same bike - 2018 FX 450 which is the Husky version of the XC-F and Sunday transmission decided to not shift higher than 2nd. After stopping and wiggling I got it to shift past 2nd for short road ride back on the road will take the right side off and check it out. Fingers crossed it's the same thing.
This was a very interesting and detailed video. I am not as familiar with mechanic aspects of auto/motorcyxles, but you explained it nicely. Thank you!! I bought a Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 recently and it is with the dealer for a fix. My problem was that initially every now and then, 2nd to 3rd would not happen easily. Then 3rd to 2nd acted up. Last week, 4th to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd was huge issue...i had to stomp it to make it shift. Is that be a very similar problem to this? In your case, I even with stomp you could not change it out of 2nd, right? Just curious.
Hey great vid so I’m on my first rebuild on a 07 ktm 65sx so I put a new crank in it and I’m having trouble when putting the cases together I can get them together with no case Bolts in and the transmission moves freely, when I tighten the case bolts the transmission shafts won’t move at all even when in neutral. Have any idea would love to direct message you for a couple questions.
Hi, i have a 125sx 07 and i just rebuilt the motor. My problem is that it takes a lot of force to shift. It shifts every gear tho. Do you have any ideas?
So i guess this problem is pretty common because my 2012 KTM 150XC was shifting rought from 1st to 2nd and almost always going straight into neutral. I had a look at that selector arm and the bolt was loose!
Occasionally my bike seems to get stuck In First gear. Takes a whole bunch of revving and moving it back and forward before the gears clunk up into gear again. I don’t know if it’s something to do with my shifting or if there’s a problem.
Hi, my KTM EXC 125 cant go in first gear, actually my first gear is gone. Now I have 5 gears so neutral-2-3-4-5 and I can ride perfectly but I do not know the problem.
Hey guys My ktm 85 has been laid up for awhile and I needed to get my carburetor cleaned as the jets got clogged and was a bog noise when reving . So now that's sorted I took it for a spin and basically when I put it into first gear it conks as soon as I leve out the clutch but yet when I run with it kick it to second it goes perfectly. Plz help 😢
@@highlandcycles you used blue loctite in your video! I am guessing that you use 271 red and 242 blue? The manual calls for 243 on some things but it is not common
@@scottphillips445 ok. I honestly can’t remember. That was a long time ago. I use Wurth thread locker so it’s probably not the “right” stuff. But in my experience, some thread locker is better than none
Dude.
Without RUclips, I would be doomed.
Thank you for posting videos like these.

Thanks

I'm guessing the shift drum came loose, or is damaged
