DIG Drip Zone Head Assembly: Connecting to a Faucet

- In this video we will cover the creation and installation of the "head assembly," which is the beginning of a drip system. The pieces used in this video are hose thread so they will attach to a faucet (also called a hose bib). If you are connecting to a pipe, be sure to get pipe thread fittings.

The timer sold at HD has two female ends. Your instruction book doesn’t illustrate which part should connect to hose faucet and timer.
Any tips for leaks at the center of that filter. When I open it I notice there is no o-ring, is there a size/product you can suggest that might seal the leaking drip?
Hey swampThaang, sorry for the late reply. You are correct, the leaking is due to the missing O-ring. Please send us an email at dig@digcorp.com and we will send out a replacement O-ring. It is a custom size so unfortunately this is the only way to replace it.
So, at which point do we connect the timer? If the timer has a dual outlet, do we need an entire rig for each outlet, or does all of this go between the faucet and the timer?
Hey Nic, the timer is installed first, always upstream of the pressure regulator and filter. And yes, if a dual outlet timer is used, a regulator, filter and adapter should be installed on each outlet of the timer. Hope this helps! Please let us know if you need anything else.

It leaks.
I have 75ft of garden hose before getting to 100ft of DIG drip system. Do I still need a pressure regulator given pressure will drop significantly traveling 75 door hose. I am concerned that dropping to 25 psi using pressure regulator will leave very little pressure for the 100ft DIG drip irrigation system
Hello, yes we still recommend using a 25-PSI pressure regulator in this instance.
Can't put a back flow component and a pressure regulator into the timer? That's a long heavy length of expensive parts hanging off that faucet ready to be broken off.

Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, there can be a lot of complications when including those parts into a timer assembly, so generally timers are made without those additional components. We are always looking to improve our timers though and will consider the suggestion for future models.

The only filter sold at my Home Depot had two male ends. Is there a female to female coupling to fix that.
Hey Nic, there is a PVC female adapter in the plumbing section but Home Depot does carry our #D57A screen filter which is female X male hose threads. Here is a link to more information: thd.co/34qlqgN

If I will connect the pump at the inlet of this system, then how I can recirculation of water?
Hello! These parts are not for a recirculating system, they are for a drip system that connects to a faucet. We believe you may be looking for a hydroponic system.

When using a multi-outlet time make sure you install the backflow, filter, and pressure regulator after your timer on each outlet.

I just bought the ML50 and was wondering why isn't the filter included in the kit? Does that mean its not necessary?
Hey Victor, the swivel adapter has a small screen filter inside, so the additional filter is not needed for this kit.

Can the filter use miracle gro or fertilizer?
You can use any granular water soluble fertilizer with this filter, unfortunately no liquid or powder fertilizers. For liquid fertilizers i would recommend using our automatic proportional fertilizer injector the AFI 5016-HV. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
@@DIGCORPORATION if a 1/2 pound of granular fertilizer can fit inside for instance, how many gallons of water and how many emitters would this provide for? I plan to run numbers on all of these but I would assume you have data already. I have a 2,000 ft long .700 od of tubing connect to multiple tanks. Would love to know the max amount of .5 an hr droppers max should be connected and the amount of tanks should be to last 3months of dry season
@@burnettn7 For .700" OD drip tubing @ 25 PSI the max flow would be 220 GPH and the max length you would be able to run would be 400 feet. If you were to use only .5 GPH emitters in your design/installation you would be able to run 440 .5 GPH drip emitters on 400 ft of .700" OD tubing. As for how much fertilizer to use that would depend on the fertilizer brand and type you choose. we always recommend you refer to the application information on the fertilizer packaging.
